View Full Version : How fit are you and exercise

What type of exercise do you do? How often? Are you a computer/anime nerd aka. noble existence:p?
I have 2 hour basketball training on Tuesday afternoons from 2-4 with the Uni team. Then my game is on Thursday nights.
I ALWAYS walk fast, so I think this would keep me fit enough. I've always had some form of sport to keep me healthy even if not fairly fit. Last year was hacky sack at school, YAY! ^_^
I cycle randomly and always end up sprinting for the train or tram XD never on time so that helps my fitness too.
Scientists (always credible of course:rolleyes:) found that people who fidget and shake, like just light shaking of your leg when sitting, that can keep you healthy enough even if you don't exercise much.

I'm in between 7 & 8. So I chose 7. Although I hate exercise, my exercise-freak friends get mad at me because I'm skinnier and I can still beat them in running. Ha!
But I can't be as fit as Chuck Norris. I bow down to his excellence.
(You know, I think Chuck Norris is quite popular now in BA. Ha.)

I try to go to the gym about every other day.

No one comes close to as fit as Chuck Norris...
I voted that I exercise regularly; I hit the gym on MWF and take tae kwan do classes around 3-4 times a week; if my work shift interferes then I practice downstairs and kick the crap out my punching bag. lol my dad made a mini-dojo in the basement...

6 i exercise regulary. I have my own like fitness regime for everyday just doing a few different exercises everyday. I tend to walk a lot as well so that helps. I also have a good dance everyday too.

I would have voted the first one just because it's hilarious! It used to be "walk to the bus stop", but that's nothing to laugh at where I'm from 'cause the bus stop is uphill from where I live. However I'm back to doing my yoga regularly so I voted option 6. I want to have abs of steel someday...or at least aluminum. XD

Voted for #5. I don't have a car so that means that I walk everywhere and run behind buses for them to notice me. I also dodge cars and mad shopping cars in parking lots. I tackle college students for the last water bottle in the cafeteria and proform mental endurance in the bus when standing next to a sweaty hobo.
What means exercise is right :p
If you count shopping as a form of exercise, then I do plenty of that ^^;
Well, I never go to the gym or anything but I do play hockey and surf a lot. I'd say I'm quite fit ;p

I live in london, so just getting to work with 1 bus and 2 tube changes is enough, plus i eat "healthy" Dorset Muesli/ Bread and Meat / Sub of the Day, no sugar or sweets
Ye , so i'm "I walk to the bus stop"

I go kickboxing for 1 1/2 hours every wednesday so im not exactly un-fit.
I'd say something between 5 and 7 xD
When I still had school, me and my friends always play some sport (for about 30 minutes maybe?) during lunchbreaks. I also had gym class 4 days out of 6 so i guess that makes for lots of evercise? But now... um, i'm done with HS so the amount of physical activity i'll do will probably be much lesser.. I'll try to do exercise this summer though..

i say i'm a 5 since i only exercise when i need to.
I'm gonna say 7 because I do Bollywood (modern Indian) dance regularly and it shows. ;)I also do yoga and because I live in New York City, I walk everywhere. Plus, my mom has gotten into health recently and she's making me eat things like yogurt and bran cereal, and I eat roughly half the meat I used to eat a year ago. What sucks now is that whenever I eat the occasional junk (damn you Domino's Pizza!!!) I feel like crap afterwards. Ahhhh c'est la vie.
EDIT: I fidget a lot. It gets me in trouble sometimes.>>

Oooh Bollywood! Thats cool =D you perform infront of huge crowds and all?:p
Dominos Pizza! We hates it! They once gave us a pizza with this blue plastic bag in it, the manager didn't wanna give us a refund, they gave us a replacement and then we complained directly to Dominos and we finally got a refund. Then even sent us this lame coupon.

Ocassional junk food is alright. You need fat to survive:p good excuse! But if you exercise enough you can eat anything.

Perform? Not as of yet, but I'm currently learning a routine to a very, very famous Bollywood song. Once I start performing, I don't need to pay for lessons anymore, thankfully. Luckily my teacher is really good, she's been dancing for twenty years (since she was three), and I've done other kinds of dance too (African and Jazz).
Ahhhh, Domino's, that evil tempter. I love their thin crust pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. Yeah, I know it's bad. :p Even if I was stick thin (i'm not) I wouldn't eat junk all the time, because I want to live for one hundred years, like my great grandmother.
Anyhow, it's amazing how people you gave your money to hate to help you.:D

I'm trying to get back into shape after hitting a "i'm at home again" depression.
But i try to make a point to work out a little bit every day, ideally. Otherwise it's like at the very least make myself do 3 times a week.

*sympathizes with Ness* Yeah! We are the pedestrians, shouldn't they stop for us? It irritates me so much, there I have 5 lbs of books on my backpack and 1 on my hands trying to get across a busy intersection with a faulty stoplight (that only stays on red for 0.5 seconds) and they have the nerve to honk me! Do they want me to stand in the intersection! Those *enter dishonorable titles*, they sit in their AC cars and I walk in 90 degree weather for 6 blocks! *fumes*
Bright side is that I get nice legs, and I would be great for dodge ball. :)

Exercising is more difficult if you just say "OK! I'm going to exercise!" that way is so hard to do. I need to play sport in order to get my exercise. Just wondering, by the show of posts, how many of you people take time your of hectic schedules to work out? I've been trying to work out but for some reason it seems like when I pick working out back up, that's a night I usually go drinking later on >_>
It's such a bad habit that I'm trying to break but how many of you guys and girls work out on a consistent basis or at least try to? Today I started back and I'm taking it lightly since I only worked on my Abs and did HIIT today. My goal is to tone up for the Summer, so I'm going to be going hard for the next 2-3 months.

I can't exercise at the moment and it is DRIVING ME BAT**** INSANE. There's no rowing machine at the local gym. My prison cell of a dorm room is too small for even basic exercises. I can't run until my knee heals properly.
I go crazy when I'm not regularly exercising. I've been known to wake up at 4 in the morning and go running around the block to satisfy my endorphin cravings.
Of course, no personal exercise will ever compare to the awesomeness of rowing in a crew...

Sadly, I'm inclined to vote for the first option... I'm probably the second laziest person I know. xD The only exercise I get is walking to and from school, hours of DanceDance Revolution and In The Groove when I go to the arcade a few times every month, and the whole leg-twitch thing... :p
Luckily I don't have to worry about gaining weight because of it since I've weighed the same for years and am already underweight, but I worry that I'm too weak, so I do wish I could get more exercise... My lack of it is probably why I have such a weak immune system.

this year i havent hit the gym at all. the last jog i had was early this year (hmm, i dunno. the assignments we have now really taking its toll on me. that might be an excuse, but still >.<)
for the last 2 years, i had been on treadmill for 4 days a week, 30 minutes per-day. then i usually cool down with 50 crunches and lifted 2.5kg dumbbell on both arms. which sums up to 1 hour per day at the gym.

3. does walking to the bathroom count? :rotflmao
Well, I'm not very fit but I don't get fat that easily so I can eat as much as I want. And that's a LOT thank goodness 'cause my mom's food is so delicious and I get hungry easily at school teehee... But I don't really like the fact that I'm not really fit at all, so I go to the gym once or twice a week to exercise or to (street)dance. But lately I've been so busy that I've only visited the gym twice a month or so:o

depends what you mean by fit. my cardio is extremely lousy because i need all my calories to put on muscles. i hit the gym 3-5 times/week so i'm very lean and my muscles are well-defined but my cardio is non-existent.

Just noticing, most people seem to be going to gyms and all to keep fit. I'm personally of the opinion that actual proper physical activity where you're doing something is much more fun! Like playing sport!:yell
You're meant to run around because thats how the game is. Not just running on some machine doing nothing:noes
Or you could just go for a jog in a park where you go somewhere and see different scenary, not just whatever's infront of you. TV or blank wall or whatever:yell
You don't need to pay to friggen exercise.:hm
That's a bad culture I reckon.
i popped a blood vessel in my neck today and the skin under my right arm is getting very thin and peeling x.x im slowly starting to work out too often and not stopping when im supposed to... i love the pain though, the more it hurts the better and i can never stop ;x lol
up until maybe this year, i had never worked out seriously... only weight lifting for several weeks randomly throughout the year then quitting... early this year i started running at nights with my pup and while i still cant run until my legs are tired (bad heart and lungs) im able to run almost 3 times further than i used to~ (even the heart is a muscle than can be trained)
when I started watching Eyeshield 21 recently, it really pushed me into overdrive ;o now I workout 20 minutes before leaving for work, then like an hour while watching more Eyeshield when i get home or watching taped episodes of Ellen ;x lol I'm still a big boy... but i'm getting tons stronger... my 40 pound weights aren't even that heavy anymore... i remember when 20s were heavy... long-term stomach clenches too are making a huge difference... im slowly getting abs by holding in the pain and flexing my stomach for like 20 minutes straight while watching anime x.x lol

@luhy; pain= pleasure? O.O when i flexed my stomach too much (long time ago :P) i had difficulty to laugh, i want to but just can't. it hurt really bad.
@speed; agreed, but it depends on the weather for me tho. if it's raining or too hot, i prefer to stay in the gym. i do play basketball, but since there's no tournament for the time being, and no one practice in the court... i pass. and when jogging, i need to make sure that there's no thunder or what so ever, coz i usually bring my mp3 player with me. i know there's a slim chance that i'll get strike by lightnings, but who knows... >.<
therefore... gym is always the safest place ;) (though i hate it when some ppl switched on the air-con, coz we're supposed to sweat not chill).

Woow! Go basketball!:p
The weather forecast is good enough to predict whether you'll get struck by lightning haha.
Indeed:yell! Bring on the sweat! Nothing like being dripping with sweat from running like mad!
My exercise consists of playing basketball for about 3 hours on Mondays during a 4 hour break I have at uni. Then my Thursday night competition game.

hmm... well many people also go there for ze "strength developing machines" methinks.... at least I HOPE it's one of the main reasons (going to a gym and PAY to run?? me likes running outside better...)
and yep me agrees!!! sport is better, but a balance of both is good too I'd say. depends of what you wanna develop (like strength? endurance? overall condition? ,...)
I usually play hockey in my garage whenever I have time or when I'm really stressed out (relieves stress)... sometimes weights, sometimes running too (but not too much). some kicks/punches too.. really random exercising lol but oh well.. better than nothing xD

Tari, give something like boxing or kickboxing a try. It's a hard workout, but it gets you in very good shape very quickly. Try and avoid diet pills, they're mostly caffeine and amphetamines.

lol i'm like a 5/6-ish?
sometimes my schedule doesn't allow me to go swim everyday, since i'm in a lot younger than most on ba, and i'm serious and not to make anyone feel bad D:
most of my exercise is done at school during gym, since we have it everyday, and when i go outside with my friends. We walk from one end of town to the other and back and yeah. We sometimes go to play tennis at our local court. >>
So I guess i'm healthy enough, but i can't say i exercise regularly all the time. :lmao

As much as I don't like to work out at times, I do it out of habit because I've been big before so I know how that feels.. I'm still big (just look at my bad resume pic in the post your pic thread :lmao
Anyways, I try to run often and I try to workout often but to me I think it's more mental to do it at this point then physical.. I'm going to give another shot of getting into shape but this time this would be my last push since I guess I've come such a far way but laziness kicks in.
So I give myself a 5-6 right now but it could be better.

Yes and no.
I write full time, so I'm sedentary a lot, but I have cardio and weight-training equipment in my basement which I use, and I also practice my kickboxing.
