The Auther of the Cthulu Mythos and many other strange and scary novels.
Steven King's got nothing on this guy.
The man who created Gods and monsters. The one who first thought of the Necronomicon (Way before Evil Dead)
Some of The Gods of Old:

Lovecraft is great. The only horror author to ever actually give me nightmares (is it weird that I consider this to be a good thing?)

Wasn't he like a massive racist?

I don't know anything much about him himself - if he was, it wasn't obvious in the stories of his I've read...

I don't think he was. To me he was just a guy who could tell one hell of a scary story about Gods and Monsters

No, no...I'm pretty sure he was a massive racist......He even wrote a poem where he explained black people as primitive subhumans......So, yeah, massive racist....Never read his stories though...

I've only ever read his stories (and mostly the wierdest ones at that), so I don't know anything about his opinions on other stuff...I tend not to look that stuff up, because a lot of people, especially around the time he was writing, have/had pretty horrible real-life opinions, and then when I know that it spoils my enjoyment of their fiction.

@ Shadowblak
He did live in the early 20th century and racism was common then. American heros such as Henry Ford, and Charles Lindbergh were racists also.

Back to the subject at hand, I'v been trying to find some of his books, what titles would you recommend, and where can I find them?

Ahhhh, Lovecraft. I always get the weirdest idea's after reading Lovecraft. XD They start out 9,000 different types of awesome and spooky... then, because of Terry Pratchett, they degenerate into sillyness.

I have a bit of a Bleach fanfic written out that's based on... was it the Shunned House? I don't remember which story exactly now (and, as usual, it's evolved into something else).

Cheez: Well, Anything in the Cthulu Mythos. Such as The Call of Cthulu are great

He was a MASSIVE racist.

That being said, Ros and I are huge Cthulhu Mythos fangirls (although not of the racism, obviously). >___>;;; The Colour From Out Space and The Shadow Over Innsmouth were always my faves. NON-EUCLIDAN GEOMETRY IA IA CTHULHU FTAGHN~~

....*goes to read*

What's the title of the one with the cats? The Dream-Quest of ...something...
I like that one :)
The Dreams in the Witch House is REALLY good (but not to read before you go to bed - OH that gave me nightmares :P)
And the Cthulu Mythos in general is awesome. Colour out of Space is great, I'm not so keen on the Shadow over Innsmouth, though.

I like Nyarlathotep

CTHULU FTAGHN :D

Nyarlathotep was the best.
He has Two songs about him!
"The Thing that Should not Be" by Metallica
and
"the Dark Eternal Night" by Dream Theater

I love his short stories, especially those in ' Whisperer in the Dark' ( I think that's the original title) He is a genius at expressing the darkest horror, his stories are unique in the way they aren't so fearsome in their subject, but the means of expression are really impressive and creep me out (=
