The television continued to blare despite the crackling flames that were devouring the house from the inside out. Hadano Tomomimi stumbled over the burning carpet, baby girl in hand … the child had just been born three months ago, and now it seemed that it would perish along with everything else in these terrible flames. Life was simply too short sometimes …

“Takeda-kun? Yuki-chan?” She called over the baby’s wails. “Wake up! The house is on fire!”

No answer. Mimi feared the worst, but she continued forging a path up the stairs, only hesitating to flinch at the many burn marks on her skin. Her brother and sister were the only things that had ever brought meaning to her life, and if she lost them she wouldn’t be able to live anymore. Not that she had very much of a chance – a burning beam had fallen over the front door, leaving a small window as the only medium of escape for her family.

“Takeda! Yuki! Please, answer me! Mama and Papa are dead, and the Nishimuras and Sakudas are too, it was on the news! Everybody’s dead … “

She coughed as a copious amount of smoke came out of the children’s room and entered her lungs, nearly causing her to lose balance and fall back down the stairs. She staggered on resolutely, pushing past the door … only to see the burning wreckage splayed out over her siblings’ immobile bodies. Unable to take the sight any longer, Mimi dropped to her knees and sank into the welcoming embrace of insanity before asphyxiating to death from lack of oxygen a moment later. The baby fell to the floor headfirst and her screaming stopped, the only remaining sound that of burning wood.

Sougen Sakado screamed and screamed for her dead family, their home, and their lives ... everything they had ever owned had just disappeared in one stroke of a match. She clutched desperately at their bodies, trying with no avail to return to hers. The overwhelming despair was too much for her, and her chain of fate practically exploded as the darkness engulfed her. When it dissolved, in her place was wraithlike hollow with elongated claws that were easily as sharp as any sword.

She stared at everybody in the vicinty - the shinigami and her family as well - and hissed hungrily.

Hadano Tomomimi was so intent on seraching for her lost brother and sister's souls that she didn't even notice the enormous hollow walking up to her. She had noticed that her movements were restricted by a chain that was connected to her chest and was trying her hardest to remove it. When the hollow attack, she shrieked and fell backwards just in time, bringing her chain of fate directly into the path of the hollow's snapping jaws. It snapped right at the end, which slipped off to reveal a hole to the other side of her body. Instantly, darkness enveloped the soul, and a torrent of reiatsu appeared in its place.
The darkness cleared, and a slim, almost delicate-looking hollow stepped out from within it.

The acid didn't leave a lot of room for attack however, so she settled on forging her own path right through it.
(COUNTER: 600 Cost, 1200 Attack - 700 Attack = 500 Direct Damage, 50 + 700 Speed)

The newborn hollow was just drawing back to admire her handiwork, when her opponent suddenly charged at her, presumably trying to bite off a limb or two. She quickly twirled out of the way (449 Speed), and back into a fighting position, grinning broadly at her prey.

Pharos, when multiple souls congregate, you may only eat one every 24 hours, unless you win a fight over them. As you have not, I can't consider your challenge to this hollow as valid.

The hobo had been drunk and soaked in alcohol when he burned to a crisp, and he remained inebriated in death. Because of this, he had developed a strange fascination with the chain attached to his chest and was now attempting to pull it off. Unfotunately for everybody involved, he actually managed the feat. The darkness engulfed him like it had for the last two souls, and out of it stepped a hollow, one who had not fed for the past week. He'd already been hungry enough to resort to cannabilism while he was alive, and now there was the added bonus that technically, it was no longer cannibalism. He stepped forwards to confront the two shinigami, licking his lips as he did.

This is going to be DELICIOUS.

Far from weakening Cronoa, the attack seemed to have made her only more excited. Far be it from me to say that Tomomimi had some creepy masochistic fetishes during her time as a human, but other explanations are a bit lacking in existence.

She reared back and pulled the timestreams to a stop completely, bringing all motion around her to a halt (Tranquil Storm: 300 Cost). Coasting up to the other hollow, she gave a wide grin and stabbed it right in the shoulder with the sharpest claw on her body (100 Direct Damage, 1 Speed), before doubling back behind the hollow. Now that her mind was rather exhausted from the necessary concentration of timestream manipulation, she resigned herself to lunging straight at the hollow, claws bared to attack (100 Attack, 100 Speed).

She thrust her hands forward, and the flame erupted from them like a cannonball, searing through the acid in its path as it engulfed Julia (Cost: 500, Damage: 1000 - 500 = 500 Direct, Speed: 50 + 450)

... well, that one just hurt like a bitch. The acid came flooding forward too quick for her to react, and she took the full brunt of it, instantly gaining several new third-degree burns and shredding her uniform. Still, her zanpaktou managed to deflect a reasonable amount of it (215 Defense, 185 Reiryoku), enough for her to remain conscious, though the burning sensation was like a thousand red-hot pokers in her body.

Shit ... need to start reminding myself that arrogance isn't a bloody superpower.

She managed to dodge the tackle (200 Speed), albeit barely, and retreated from the hollow, leaning heavily on her zanpakuto, completely out of breath, and leaking blood profusely from where the acid had penetrated particularly deep.

"Shit..." it seems he was getting an alert from headquarters, looks like Lexi was in trouble. The message included her current location and status...

He looked back at the souls and hoped they would be okay. What a way to start off my first day as a fukutaicho...

"Hey there, I'm going to have to ask you to step away from the girl hmm?" he said calmly as he drew his zanpakuto.

Lamentress charged headfirst into the spew of acid, claws drawn to excavate as much of the spider's innards as possible. Despite the acid burning away her flesh, she tore deep into the spider's abdominal cavity (Desolation: 20 Cost, 149 Health + 68 Reiryoku + 34 Attack + 34 Defense, 17 Speed + 35 Reiryoku) before succumbing to the acid that had already penetrated to her vital organs.

After killing Lamentress and devouring her body, recovering his strength, he went in search for more souls... Arrives at souls 7,8 and 9

Azul ate the last soul and moved on...

"Move". The spider hollow looked vaguely familiar, but the sour flavour of the last souls made her rather volatile (Imagine Azul as being menopausic)

Initiates fight with Arachnee

Arachnee watched at the inmense hollow in front of him.

"This is not good... OH LOOK!! A THREE HEADED GIANT MONKEY!"

With that, he swiftly left for souls number 10-12

[Kolbertt]

"For the better" Azul thought.

With that, she ate the souls, and left for the nearest presence in the area... slightly disturbed by an odd feeling in her mind.

Arrives at soul number number 14

"Let's just end this quickly"

[Pharos]

Arachnee ate one of the souls, and swiftly trapped the others in his web for later consumition.

[Kolbertt]

Azul devoured the soul. At this point, there were almost no souls left from the fire, and the spiritual pressence of shinigami's and hollows was quite low.

"Well... It looks it's almost over. Almost..."

She then flew to souls number 11, 12, where she met with the familiar hollow.

Fight initiated with Arachnee over the remaining souls

"You know the game right?"

"Geez... Annoying ain't you?" Arachnee escapes for his life before being squished to nothing

That's right. After all that had happened, Azul had forgoten that under her feathery neck, a chocker made of spider-web remained. And surprisingly, it had survived both the battle with Adapalane, and the sudden growth in her body.

"Can it be? Arachnee!!" Azul realized who this hollow was, and almost felt sorry for treating him like that. Almost :p

"Uh... sorry I guess, but it's time for my meal" With that she devoured the souls trapped in the spider web.

A portal opened, and an interesting plot thread began.
