Oh! Himawari and Domeki are in the first volume. Himawari is the girl that Watanuki is in love with, and Domeki is his friend whom he has a love-hate relationship with. You'll meet "the black pork bun" Kuro-Mokona in volume 2! :D

Okay, I only watch the anime, haven't read the manga (laziness). I'm a fan of Clamp's works so thats how I got interested in this.

I hear that a second season is going to be made. Is this true?

I doubt the anime is in english. A friendof mine had seen a little bit of it and she says they keep up with the cool art. There was also a movie. I doubt it will be dubbed in english for a few years yet though.

I just read volume 2
Wow Sakura ans Syoran showing up with those other 2 guys and the 2 little toy thingies!! What an intense start to volume 2!! Maru and Moru have no souls? Is that going to be explained further? Also a new guy in the series Domeki (Poor Watanuki). Also it looks like there is gonna be trouble with getting into a relationship with Himawari - chan. Oh Fudge. Also I at the ghost story ceremony I am curious about what Yuko meant by how all the players are there but didn't mention the part of Himawari-chan. Also Domeki has some mad skillz. I wonder how working out a friendship with him is going to work.
I can't wait for volume 3

There is an anime (with only 23 or 24 episodes) and a 1 hour movie called "xxxHolic: A Midsummer Night's Dream"

The episodes are completely out of order in the manga. Himawari and Domeki don't meet Yuko and don't find out that Kuro-Mokona is a living, breathing, talking thing, at the 100 Tales of Horror like in the manga.

The anime goes up to Volume 6 and consists of 24 episodes I believe and yes it's out of order. The Tsubasa references have been removed and a few fillers have been added in. Also certain characters have been thrust into greater prominence then was given in the manga (e.g Ame Warashi and Zashiki Warashi)

As for where to get it I think a few torrents are still around of the whole thing.

As for the second season. It will probably debut next year.

It will feature the Spider-Arc...yay for Douwata!

They also expanded on some of the manga stories in the anime (like the snowball fight one)

What I really hated was how they didn't have Himawari there when the woman who kept lying about everything was hit by the truck in the 1st volume. There was no "Had you not been with Himawari you might not have seen the accident" line from Yuko. Also didn't really like the fact that she lived.

OK I wanted to ask for help for something. Does anyone know a good online site buy a the Tsubasa xxxholic calendar from? I have been searching for like 2 hours!!! It just came out on the 23 and it's like no one has it!! What did they do, print like 5 copies or something? Are calendars like that easily available in Japan? If so it is not beneath me to beg someone to buy it for me and I send them a money order!!

I wanted to ask, for the colour pages that come with some of the volumes is that only in the first printing of the book? I wanted to try and buy all the manga with the colour pages of each volume, but I can't find colour pages in volumes 1-4. Is there any type of indicator? I asked the publisher and I got no response.

Hello is anyone awake in this FC? I went to the Library and got volumes 5 to 9. I read them all in a couple of hours.

Watanuki lost an eye for Domeki!!!! Now they got half an eye each. Dang. Now also Domeki can see what Watanuki sees!!! I didn't like that Watanuki didn't fight for his eye. At least that sweet spirit girl tried to get it. She must really care. Also was there importance of drinking that nectar? Also I wanna know does Watanuki have eyes of 2 different colours?

Poor Watanuki, sucked into some dimension and have to give go give some girl who stole chocolate a gift poor guy!! I find myself saying poor Watanuki when I read the books. Also I kind of don't know why Watanuki was so willing to sacrifice himself for other people (willingly getting the spider to take his eye instead of Domeki, or give up some body part to rescue the spirit girl), does he have low self esteem?

About Tsubasa I finally decided to start reading it while I am still reading master of the clow. I know the stories are different and the characters aren't the exact same, but I wanted to finish Cardcaptors first.

Also there is one character who is a rain spirit. Does she have red hair or blue hair? Are they two characters or one?

Also how come no one has commented on Watanuki's eyes?

About Watanuki's eyes I meant how come no one in the manga has commented. Like Himawari-chan hasn't said anything. Have any of the teachers? Other students? You'd think if some guys eye spontaneously changed colour someone would point it out.

I am now reading the scanlations of volume 12. I read volume 11 online and volume 9 and 10 in the bookstore (they let you read books at the store) and the rest from the library. i have heard the anime has been licenced in North America and it will be coming out sometime next year dubbed. I am thinking though I would like a nice place to check out some subs if they are any good.

Here is a good Question can anyone explain Hitsuzen? I think I think get it, but only sort of. Something like, all actions must be deliberate and not coincidence or else it would not cause a causality to bring a person to their destiny? *confused*

Also I wanted to ask, how many volumes do you think xxxholic will have. Do you think it's nearing an end? (I am kind of afraid of that since several things that were mysteries in the begining were answered in chapter 10)

We've only seen Watanuki interact with Yuko, Domeki, Himawari, Maru, Moro, Mokona and those who come to the shop. Maybe teachers did bring it up? In the manga, all the unimportant people are usually white so not to distract you from the focus of the story or character. I'm sure Yuko told Himawari about his eye after the accident.

"Hitsuzen" is just basically "fate", "destiny", "inevitable" etc. Everything happens for a reason. Basically what you already think ^_^

OK I halfway in volume 13. I will bump up this thread for now and give some of thoughts later tonight.

(Also I will say, that reading Tsubasa really gives a lot of insight into Yuuko's character).

What the heck is up with Kimihiro wondering if he is real or not? I think he able to go into the dream world and get out of it. But he is very real since he can interact with other people (like the people at the apartment he has, they did sort of look after him.) Maybe his abilities are changing after all he has been through. (Although forgetting his parents names seems pretty freaking serious.) He sees Sakura and Syaoran? Looks like there is some trouble there (I am not yet caught up with Tsubasa). I think it's so sweet that he wants to grant a wish of Yuuko's. I kind of sped read the scanlations so I am sure there is something I am missing. Also, now Watanuki sleeps in Yuuko's bed (with Mokona (black)). I think something very dangerous is happening and Yuuko is trying to sheild him from it. I think they both know that although they both play it off that Yuuko just wants an early breakfast. I really like this student mentor relationship, and Kimihiro is so sweet.

Also we finally learn that Yuuko is unable to give anything to anyone, except her feelings. I guess that is the price she pays to have the powers she does.

(What the heck is up with the is Second Syaoran? I still don't know what he paid to help Kimihiro when he fell.) I need to re-read some stuff.

Now I am off to read Tsubasa to see if I can make any sense of what is going on. (I am only at volume 15 for that)

Does anyone know if it's true that this year will be xxxHolic's final year? (along with the TRC final arc?) Wiki says:

At the conclusion of Volume 23, on the last page of Chapter 182, the authors of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle announced the manga was entering its final arc. It is expected that TRC and its sister publication, xxxHolic will end prior to the 2009 publication of CLAMP's new shojo manga.

Judging from what I have read in Tsubasa it looks like it makes sense. I was hoping that they would continue the stories into 2009, with their new Shojo project, since I would like to see Holic have 15-16 volumes but I guess not. This sucks.

At least they intend to finish it. Look at X, or even Gohou Drug. Incomplete and the fans hoping for it to continue

But Nanase(no longer Ageha) Ohkawa is pretty strict on herself. She doesn't over-stretch a story beyond how she planned it. I admire her for that at least

And just because XXXholic and Tsubasa are finishing this year doesn't necessarily mean we won't see the cast in other CLAMP works

Holitsuba Gakuen for one could be a regular feature.

Also Gohou Drug might be another manga that will make a return.

Umm the fact Watanuki's eyes changed and no-one comments on it is tied to a very important plot point revealed in volume 10-onwards (i think)

xxxHolic is one of my favorites, also like Tsubasa Chronicle which goes with it, i like how Clamp has mixed the manga together like, characters will be here and there in many of its manga.

I followed Holic first, then Tusbasa. Always felt that storywise Holic is stronger. Tsubasa has all the epic, dramatic stuff. Holic is more subtle.

Anyway anyone seen XXXholic Kei yet? It's now up to episode 2 and I can honestly say, the quality of the animation has improved! But most importantly the studio stays true to the manga (99%) and it's just amazing!

Recently i have heard the new Season of xxxHolic has come out in Japan called xxxHolic Kei. Shinsen subs (http://www.shinsen-subs.org/) is subbing it so pass by and take a look. Episode 2 just resently went up.

I haven't been reading the scanlations recently so I am a bit behind.

A couple of weeks ago, I went shopping at this anime store and I was stunned to find so little xxxHolic merchandise. Especially the lack of posters (me wuvs posters). Does anyone know who holds the rights for xxxHolic merchandise in North America? Whoever has them, I was gonna make a request since the art is so exquisite it's a shame for them not to be easily available when it seems as if xxxHolic is growing in popularity.

I know English scanlations are done of Furuba, but it's still new to me and I want that "newness" to last as long as possible. I know it's done in Japan but there are still 5 volumes to go before it is done in English. Usually just after the English version comes out, I read the english version and then the scanlated corresponding chapters just to compare. I want to the same thing with xxxHolic. (Especialy since I think I was halfway through volume 13 of xxxHolic before I stopped reaading the scanlations.

It's been mentioned a lot in the manga that Watanuki, Sayoran, and Sakura have an important bond.

Anyway I was looking at some xxxHolic Pencil boards (Shitajiki) and I was wondering how many of them have been made using manga cover art. I know of at least 6,7,9 and 10. Also I know some pencil boards have been made from colour splash pages. ( I know they do that with some of the clear files which I am interested in too. If anyone knows about any merchandise please post about here as some xxxHolic merchandise is sort of few and far between. (also I can study up for Anime north).

I just checked and Shinsen subs has done 5 and 6 now. :) So Enjoy!! I got back from Anime north on Sunday. It was so much fun. Although there wasn't much xxxholic merchandise. I did make some requests and there is one guys online shop I have to check out. Also xxxholic was represented in the masqurade twice and both entrants won awards. Although the announcer didn't claimed he couldn't read the title of the manga so I ened up screaming out xxxholic several times. I sopke to one of the Yuuko - sans and she said she did tell him it was from xxxHolic. Next year I hope to see some Watanuki's though.

I've just purchased volume's 10 and 11 and have since read all the remaining chapters after them. I don't really understand why there's such a difference between the anime and the manga,

and i can't believe everything that's happened with Kohane and Watanuki, it seems like the worlds of holic and tsubasa are coming apart at the seams, what is this final moment, and why are domeiki and watanuki linked to it?
