You bring up a good point, but Pheshe (sp?) and Dondo had their masks ripped off by Szayel and they are still alive. Whose to say Ashido didn't rip off the masks of his opponents so he could make himself a cover.

Not really, but he seems familiar, so they might be recycling a voice.

EDIT: Actually, the more I look at Ashido, if you change his grayish blue eyes to green-ish blue, he has similar features to Nova.

The style of the eyes look the same...His hair style seems longer, but still a similar style and color, and I'd have to go back and check, but their voices sound similar too, though I don't think they are the same. It looks like they recycled Nova's design on this shinigami...The difference is we actually got to see Ashido's face =P

so far i like this filler arc a lot especially that new shinigami grew on me normally in anime the filler guys are drawn that way that you can easily forget them once the arc is over but they seem to put a lot of effort on creating him. (and as soon he spoke i thought it was kankouro from naruto i am kinda good on recognising voices;-)) Acid also seems to be quite powerful i mean he dispatched loads of menos and an adjucha in a blink of an eye. I guess this arc seems to be a lot more enjoyable than the bounto arc (eventhough i thought it was watchable). But please in the name of GOD studio pierrot get rid of this stupid bount soundtrack not becouse itis the bount theme but because it pales in comparison to the themes from the beginning and the ss arc. (i am just rewatching them)

Well im still a bit supprised at how well the Gillains work together, granded they didn't fight each other when Aizen left, but i thought that the Giant eye was the main reason.

what??? how do ou know that? i was hoping this was the case, but i though adjuchas were like completely covered in armor, the same material as the hollo mask....otherwise that means they just look the sane as normal hollows (lame).

not really :) i am the same all my japanese are from animes but as i am watching the raws once or twice before the subs i now understand a lot of what they are saying and i am usually right but i couldnt speak (apart from introducing, swearing and threatening to kill someone) even if my life depends on it.
I still want too learn japanese in the near future because i somewhat like that language

The Forest itself can be considered canon; an factual part of Hueco Mundo. But the little detour Ichigo and co. are taking in this arc is not canon.

I'm also surprised at how quickly I took to Ashido; his backstory is nearly tragic enough to make him a canon Bleach cast member. :) It doesn't hurt that he's quite good-looking too (I love the little tuft of hair on his forehead). I just have this terrible sinking feeling that he's going to die...

On an unrelated note: Did anybody else who downloaded the DB sub see the "5-second preview" for the 2nd movie? I didn't even know there was one until I checked this thread, so it seems like DB left it out.

Yeah, it's awesome that Rukia can use shunpo. It's cool how all of a sudden it seems like she and Ashido just clicked (not like IchiRuki, but..) This is probably the best filler episode I've seen for Bleach IMHO. I just hope they don't kill off Ashido like the nearly extinct Bounto (though they kept the mod souls).

I really like Acid, too! You can tell Kubo-sensei designed him because he's so freakin' hawt! Well, my hope is that he just stays right where he is and doesn't end up dead. He can't go to Las Noches, he doesn't want to go back to Soul Society, so I hope he just lives as the shinigami in the Forest of Menos.

Isn't it funny that he seems a little cuckoo? He acts like his friends are still alive, but I guess his psychosis is kinda cutesy...:o:D:glomp

It's kinda hard to come up with a plausible reason to keep him in the forest. For a shinigami with such righteousness, it'll be weird that he doesn't offer to join Ichigo & co. in rescuing Orihime.

Yea, I was just watching episode 32 for a reference and saw that too. I was like holy crap o.O Yea, they do look the same, it's crazy. I am not sure if it was intentional like they were really using that same character or if they are simply recycling random past Shinigami appearances.

The only way so far, as I can tell, the physical difference between an Adjucas and a regular hollow is that Adjucas have human like eyes, and not the yellow glows of hollows.

Somehow my eyes itch everytime someone writes fillerbishieRenchigo's name as "Acid". I know it's katakana but it looks so weird. So he'll be Ashido to me. Or Renchigo.

anyway i think i get the hollow forms when it comes to their looks now.

- hollows are human sized. any random shape i guess.
- gillianvery large all look the same.
- adjuchas can probably range from sligtly smaller than gillian, to a bit larger than a human. they are probably more developed and look indivual, which is like a hollow, but they're much bigger i guess. their eyes seem like human-ish, like the vizards hollow eyes.
- vastolorde are probably just human sized and human shaped. with human-ish eyes like adjuchas.
- so when any of these guys becoma arrancar they will all probably get small and human sized/shaped (will some wn't get human forms or zanpakuto, butthey still get smaller i think). with broken hollow masks. their skin colour can be a human skin colour i guess. once released i gues they stay the same size but gain armor that makes them look similar to their original hollow form. the armor is always probably that white colour.

i think its a coincidence since ashido states he is now hundreds of years in hm but in episode 62 when byakuya tells rukia about her sister he adopted her fifty years ago and he was married wis hisana 5 years before she died. the guy who gave rukia food was still back in her rukongai times so unless there wasnt a time gap from 150 years when hisane abandoned rukia and her marriage with byakuya there is no way that he is the same guy

Time passes differently in SS, you can tell - it's been 40 years since Rukia was adopted, and she still doesn't look like she aged more than 2-3 years. It's not impossible that the animators intend the guy to be the same guy, for "continuity" reasons, but fail at math. If I'm not mistaken, Renji and Rukia met around 10 years before they went into the academy, which makes the encounter with riceball shinigami not more than 60 years ago.

well not really just look at episode 40 in ganjus flashback were he was still a kid and rukia was a shinigami, adopted and already assigned to kaiens squad so much less than 50 years and look at him now. I think the aging process in ss depends on your spiritual pressure and so you are aging normal when you are not trained and delay (almost stop if you become captain class) aging when you enter seretei and become a shinigami therefore sharpening your spirit pressure i mean i didnt see any captain looking much younger in any flashbacks (except ukitake and shunsui which were the first captains after yamajii founded the academy 2000 years ago). just imagine what ganju would look like in 2000 years after he went from a nine year old boy to a middle aged man in 40-50 years
