Know Your Seiyuu

Ichigo's seiyuu is hilarious XD in the clips of them playing the Wii Bleach game!

My favourite seiyuu is Paku Romi since she is Hitsugaya, Edward Elric and Teresa from Claymore!

The more you hear your Seiyus in other animes, the less they have their individuality. For example Ichigo's Seyu. If you hear his voice, you know it's ichigo. That's why i don't like the voice of Hitsu, because i'm always thinking of Elric from FMA when i hear him speaking.

Or the Kenpachi voice. He has been really overused. I 've watched atleast 5 animes, where i heard his voice.

Paku Romi, for example, is great at imbuing emotions in her voice (and thus, the characters she plays) but she does sound a lot like herself in most she voices, making her easy to distinguish. This is a problem in, say, Sakurai too. Masakazu, I'm not so sure because I'm not very familiar in the anime he's voiced in.

Orikasa, though, wouldn't have registered to me as Pacifica or Kirara, despite having watched Bleach. And now that I know, she is still different enough (well, sometimes she can sound similar) that it is just really awesome. This is the same, for me at least, with, uhm, Kugimiya Rie and Hiroki Takahashi too. I had to vigilantly watch Rie in two consecutive anime (while being aware of who she voiced) just to see similarities and I watched School Rumble and Prince of Tennis but Harima Kenji and Eiji Kikumaru never sounded the same.

Then again, maybe I just suck at hearing Seiyuu. Or maybe I'm easy to manipulate. :p

Well I started watching Gundam Seed Destiny just because Masakazu Morita voiced Auel Neider (one of the coolest characters) and in my opinion he didn't sound like Ichigo at all...well..with some things you could hear that he also voiced Ichigo but that's because you know his work...and so you recognize it.

Same with Grimmjow's Seiyuu (I forgot his name!! argh...). I recently found out that he also voiced Sting Oakley (Gundam Seed Destiny) and he sounds so different..I would've never guessed it was him!

Takeuchi Junko and Paku specialize in young teens / boyish roles . Junko and Paku have done several roles like that Gon (HXH) Naruto (Naruto) Ed (FMA) Tao (Shaman King) etc etc

These two seiyus are at their best when it comes to these kind of roles . And its really hard to tell they are infact not boys

I have such a ingrained mental thing that Paku Romi always does boys that when she did Teresa from Claymore I thought it sounded too boyish but got used to it after a while.

One of my other favourite Bleach seiyuu is Jun Fukuyama who is Yumichika and Mizuiro from Bleach. He is most awesome in Code Geass as Lelouch, just incredible with the range of emotions and how deep it feels. Just a great seiyuu.

Bleach is actually blessed with superb seiyuus, that makes it a worthwhile anime for me :)

Orikasa Fumiko is one of the best.
Okiayu Ryoutarou never fails to amaze. He has a never ending role in the anime, same goes with Seki Toshihiko (Kaien).

I'm actually suprised when Megumi Ogata is voicing Halibel. I thought she quitted her job coz I can't hear her voice in the recent anime I voice. But I'm glad i was able to hear it again.

Voices I want to hear in Bleach: Megumi Hayashibara, Seki Tomokazu, Miyami Takayama and Aya Hirano. They're great, the first four are very professional :)

I'm an anime-crazed person who had almost looked into those voices i'm listening, and yeah, Bleach has got some of the most amazing cast..but most of then in supporting roles.

Take these as examples:
1. Konishi Katsuyuki voiced both Hisagi Shuuhei and Asano Keigo. If you werent informed, can you tell that their voices are actually from the same person? I almost thought that the seiyuu has an alternate alter ego when he switched from Keigo to Hisagi...

2. Try take a listen to these two songs - Naked Flower from Murder Princess, and Bokutachi ni Aru Mono from The Law of Ueki. Can you tell immediately that it is sung by the same Paku Romi who did the gruff Hitsugaya's voice?

For Paku Romi, i believe that she had been typecasted in her current roles rather than not having a range wide enough to cover all types of roles. Her roles are often boys (Ed Elric, Hitsugaya, Ueki Kousuke, Natsume Hyuuga...) or spunky ladies (Teresa, Oosaki Nana, Temari)...I was in awe when i actually watched her video in youtube for Bokutachi ni Aru Mono..Still cannot believe that she sang that...

I was watching zombie loan...and what the heck??!

I heard Kenichi Suzumura and Takahiro Sakurai again!! not to mention Kuwashima Houko.

I just noticed that Kenichi's voice is so recognizable >.< And his role character pattern is getting to me. But his best role for me is as Hikaru of OHHC. Can't help laughing :D

Takahiro Sakurai's is superb also, but I can't hear him anymore in Bleach, since it seems Kira won't show up in any moment >.< I still have hangover from Suzaku...

Paku Romi is just amazing! If you compare "This light I see" which she sang for Bleach Beat Collection and "Bokutachi ni aru mono", it's wow! I can't believe she sang it too.

Getaboshi thanks for info! I really like Suwabe Junichi, he does great job with Grimmjow, and he's pretty different in his other animes.

Orikasa Fumiko is one of the best! Wow, she just put life into Rukia's character. And in life, Fumiko doesn't sound even a little close to Rukia's voice. Moreover, her other anime roles are so versatile, and she does amazing job!

Oh, and yeah, I'd really like to hear Ishida Akira - he's very good!

@ fly_melody: Strongly seconded on Inoue Kazuhiko for Bleach. I'm absolutely in love with his Kakashi voice!

To add to the wtf factor of the supporting cast, Toshiyuki Morikawa voices Isshin, Tousen, and Tsubaki. I'm absolutely floored by his range - madcap daddy, self-righteous captain, and aggressive fairy. :)

@ Sensa_689: Paku Romi is amazing. I was very un-surprised when I heard she'd won a Seiyu Award. (Also not amazed that the other winner was Masakazu Morita for his work as Ichigo!)

Suwabe Junichi has a small part in "Saiunkoku Monogatari," a shoujo anime, but it's basically his Grimmjow voice. If you're interested, at least six Bleach seiyu also have roles in "Saiunkoku," and some sound pretty recognizable. It's a good series, and I had a lot of fun going "Hey, that's ...!"

all in all japanese seiyuus are in my opinion very unique and good since they have so much expression in their voice

I don't think about the seiyuus that much, so I don't realize who voices who.
And I don't make a conscious connection, like I'd never notice without having read it that Morikawa Toshiyuki does the voice for Isshin as well as for Tousen. And it often surprises me when I find out a seiyuu did a character in another anime I watch. But then sometimes I uncosciously make the connection, like when I was watching Fruits Basket and wondering why I kept thinking about Byakuya at random moments - the same person voices Byakuya as Shigure, as it turns out. But that doesn't always hold...like I never noticed that he's also voiced characters in three other animes I've watched (I looked him up on Wikipedia after I noticed that :)). And for every seiyuu I notice somewhere else, there are a dozen I'm clueless about.

I love a good number of the seiyuu in Bleach. Some of my favorites are:

1. Nobuyuki Hiyama as Ikkaku. XD His range of really deep vocals to the very high pitched shrills just get me laughing all the time. Very talented guy, I've heard him do very varied roles. And not to mention, voices Viral from Gurren Lagann and Link from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and that's just pure win.

2. Fukuyama Jun as Yumichika/Mizuiro. The emotion in this guy's acting is just amazing. In Bleach in particular, I think he makes Yumichika's character more dynamic and interesting. He's become much more popular lately and I'm hearing him in a lot of things.

3. Koyasu Takehito as Pesshe. :rofl I could not believe such a prolific voice actor was voicing a character like Pesshe. I'm used to him voicing pretty boys with deep, melodic voices but he does comedy so well.

4. Kousuke Toriumi as Szayel. Oooh he is so convincing as Szayel. I was a little worried at first that he'd end up sounding like Kiba from Naruto but I am very satisfied at his ability to be really evil and twisted.

He's one of my favorite voice actors. I love him as Joe in the King of Fighters games, too. He also did Mr.3 in One Piece and Jackal in TeniPuri.

I'm still wrapping my head around that one. And how good he is.

My other favorites:

- Toshiyuki Morikawa (Tsubaki/Isshin/Tousen) - His range is incredible, and he's been in damn near EVERYTHING. I don't know how he does it.

- Wataru Takagi (Ganju) - I love the energy and frankness he brings to all his roles.

- Ryotaro Okiayu (Byakuya) - This was the first role I heard him in, and he's been a favorite of mine ever since (though his Kaku is what sealed the deal for me).

- Noriaki Sugiyama (Ishida) - His nasally voice, and the way he screams, is absolutely hilarious. XD

- Junichi Suwabe (Grimmjow) - He did a stellar job with my favorite Espada. I also loved him as Atobe from TeniPuri, Greed from FMA, and Seymour from FFX.

- Toru Okawa (Kariya) - For singlehandedly preventing the Bount arc from being complete and utter failure. I only found out he was Roy Mustang and Ryu in Street Fighter III: Third Strike much later. (Fun fact: Wataru Takagi played Ryu in the other SFIII games).

The seiyuu cast is a big reason why I watch Bleach, and most anime in general (along with the music). ;)
