Complicated anime/manga personallities

Anyway ever experienced some anime/manga characters that you just had a hard time understanding?


Well to a lesser degree i have a hard time understanding Yagami from Death-Note but mainly corse of how he can do all that with so few clues.


The one i really don't understand is Cain from Trinity Blood. He likes to hear about Abel(his brother) doing well having a good time etc. But he loves to kill Abel's loved ones and angering him:headscratch


Whom might you have a hard time to understand?

Well Droped FLCL after 1 ep so i can't say. I just found the show to strange to be fun.(Even though other random series might do good)

Lain- Serial experiment Lain

She talked sooo little that at times you had to guess what she was actually thinking. It was a miracle if she happened to say more than three words together. Add that to a multiple persona disorder and a lot of creepy stuff. But despite all this, she seemed to have deep feelings, like love or friendship (the last scene in the anime shows this)-

I really would like to see that serie again, maybe I'd be able to understand her a little better now

I can't think of a specific character at the time, but there is one common anime personality trait I just can't understand.

The villain revealing his evil plan, not killing the hero when he can ect, it may be crucial to the story for this to happen, but it is used so poorly

There are decent ways to write a story that reveals the villains master plan/ or has the villain not kill the hero, but most authors just go ahead and write the stereotypical villain.

So in a sense, any/every anime villain just confuses me:D

Mamimi from FLCL. I love the her to pieces, but she confuses me - I still think that the parts with her might be the best ones in the whole anime, but still I don't get her at. All. It'd be easier if I knew the exact psychological disorder she has, but as I don't, I'm baffled.

Priscilla from Claymore. I'm just @___@ WTF at her, no matter what she does, and I don't even know why.

And finally, Yuuji from Shakugan no Shana. HOW CAN ANYONE BE SO IDIOTIC. >.< *facepalm*

Mugen from Samurai Champloo. You really couldn't tell which side he was on, or his real intentions. When I seem to have some sort of understanding for him something throws me off-kilter (like the episode with that mysterious girl who grew up with Mugen).

I totally agree with the Lain thing.
Then again, when I started the show, I was about 13 years old.... Not to mention I missed an episode or two.
You can't do that with Lain. Your mind will combust with the confusion. o.O

Almost all of the akatsuki member in naruto... All of them like to commit sins without having any sad memories that can altered their personalities...

I have some CLAMP characters in mind, but they are more sadistic than complicated..or probably misunderstood.

Interestingly, the only character I can think of that I can't understand is Urahara. It's impossible to figure out what's motivating him, despite how much we know of him.

i agree with Lain too...she's one of my fav~ and nakajima yoko from Juuni Kokki. she's a confused and emo character, which i can understand coz, unlike ichigo who willingly accept the concept of shinigami and SS, imo, youko took some time to adjust and was getting paranoid most of the time due to her reluctant-ness to accept the new dimension that she lived in~

Aren't NGE characters complex also? I think they are far more complex than Kenpachi.

Hmm... I'd have to say Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Much of what is said about his character/personality are all very subtle; I've yet to fully understand him!

I'm really surprised nobody's said this yet... Griffith from Berserk. Well, his personality might not be complicated per say, but his character as a whole. And the ending (of the anime)... I totally didn't see that coming.

Pretty much all of Air gear, that series moves a little too fast with enemies who were once allies popping out of every hole for seemingly no reason at all.

Unlike Light's megalomaniac personality that I definitely understand, I don't understand his detective counterpart. What drives L to do detective work aside from the knowledge that he's good at solving mysteries? (Other than serving justice to those who need it) What makes him tick? What makes him do all those things he does? Was there an incident that drove L to be like this? What weird and intellectual gene combination does he have? Why does he look so hot even though he looks freakishly weird????

I agree with the Tousen Kaname and Ichimaru Gin part. I don't understand why they're like that. The flashback chapters were too quick. They focused to much on Urahara, Aizen and the Vaizards. I wanna know Kurosaki Isshin too. Was he a former captain??? I mean, with that outfit he had when he fought his wife's killer and a very powerful son, he's got to have some big stuff to pass on! :D

I totally agree. I love L (He was my favourite Death Note character), but he's a total enigma to me.

and other than that is Suoh Tamaki....sometimes he's so predictable but sometimes he just so damn secretive.....:(
