You know there are fans of this series, it's just too adorable.

Plot Summary: This is a story of a young and tragic love, set in the aerial city of Neo Verona. Tyranny rules this island in the sky after the Montague family took control 14 years prior. The disparity among the wealthy and poor is apparent in the present state, the earth dries and water stagnates. The sky itself is wrapped in a deep dense fog. Both Romeo and Juliet's lineages are of present and past ruling families of Neo Verona. Romeo is the son of the current Montague dictator, Juliet (a beautiful woman) masquerades as a man (Odin), she's the last descendent of Capulet the previous rulers who were killed by an assasin's dagger 14 years ago. Her true background is not to be revealed to her until her 16th birthday while being raised by her sister. The cruel hands of fate introduces 2 people who will become "Star Crossed Lovers".

Romeo Montague. (ロミオ)
Romeo is the son of Lord Lae heir to the throne of Neo Verona. His full name is Romeo Candorebanto Montague, and he is obedient and kindhearted. As a nobleman, he rides and owns a ryūba named Cielo. For political reasons, he has been forced into an unwanted engagement with Hermione, a young noblewoman, despite the fact that he has fallen in love with Juliet after two meetings: once at the Montague Rose Ball and another in a field of irises. He later accidentally discovers her identity as Odin, only for her to break up with him after the Montague efforts to crackdown on the Whirlwind leads to the death of one of her friends.

Later, after reexamining the graves where he first met Juliet (as Odin) and consulting with his mother Portia, he realizes that Juliet is the last daughter of the Capulets. Following a chase through Neo-Verona during the Flower Festival, he reaffirms his feelings to her despite her family only to be rejected when Juliet gives him a handmade handkerchief and runs away; he is also punished by his father for failing to show up to the fireworks celebrating his engagement with Hermione. For worse, he is told by Benvolio about Montague trying to wipe him and his family out *and* sees Tybalt embracing Juliet soon after this, so he starts thinking that their love is hopeless, but another encounter with Juliet gives him his hope back. Just before this, he unsuccesfully tried to stop the attacks on the Capulet faction, by speaking out in the council, telling his father's allies that if the Capulets before him were tyrants, their sins were already purged by their deaths, so their vassals shouldn't be persecuted.


Juliet Capulet. (ジュリエット)
The last member from the House of Capulet. Her full name is Juliet Fiammatta Asto Capulet. She dresses as a boy, Odin, in order to avoid being caught by the usurping House of Montague, who still actively look for the Capulets. An excellent swordsman, she also masquerades as a vigilante, the Red Whirlwind, in order to aid the people oppressed by the Montagues.

Initially, Juliet has no recollection of her troubled past and chafes at being forced to dress as a boy. The truth of her heritage is revealed to her by Conrad on her sixteenth birthday. Her memories of the fateful night fourteen years ago float to the surface soon after she unsheathes the Capulet Sword. Even so, Juliet at first claims that she has no desire for revenge.

Juliet first meets Romeo as the Red Whirlwind when he rescues her from Montague guards. She then falls in love with him after attending the Montague Rose Ball dressed as a girl in place of her friend Emilia, only managing to introduce herself when they meet again in a field of irises. Juliet learns that Romeo is a Montague when he saves her once again during her mission to rescue Lancelot. She later meets him disguised as Odin and accidentally reveals her female alter ego while drying off from the rain.

After Lancelot sacrifices himself as the Red Whirlwind in order to stop the persecution of innocents, she breaks off her relationship with Romeo after confessing to him that she was the real Red Whirlwind, despite him giving her irises and a kiss in the Flower Festival. Juliet later gives up on her Odin alter ego and pledges herself completely to the Capulet Restauration, attempting to assume her position as the daughter of the wiped clan, but deep down she still struggles with such a bloody legacy and has very strong qualms about killing.

I have not watched this series I was planning to join I have a question though

I heard about this back in Nov I was expecting a neo setting or mechas meets R&J but the character designs were Victorian so I had second thoughts ...So the question is how shojo is it like OHC or like Furuba or Worse ? . Sorry if I am sounding rude . I am little apprehensive when it comes to shojo

@Geta Boshi- Actually I'm not sure that it's shojo, it never really mention anywhere, unless I missed something. But if it is, the shoujo-ness isn't like OHC or Fruits Basket; more like a DNangel-type.

It feels a bit shounen to me though, with a lot of love.

Quite different from what I had expected. I liked the settings Victorian/Roman it’s a wonderful how they have combined this together effortlessly adding an extra touch .Crimson wind aka Juliet reminded me of Don Juan Demarco’s costume for 90s movie .I did not know there was fantasy mixed in this there the Pegasus Romeo used was awesome .Hats off to the Animation and CG The scene where Romeo and Juliet escape was mind-blowing

It was amusing to see how well they have mixed Shakespeare into this with the playwright being William. Must be a tribute of sorts by the manga ka . His Seiyu has done an excellent job makes him a very interesting character. Character designs are good each character is unique also can’t be clichéd as Shakespeare characters the Seiyus chosen compliment the and add to create well rounded characters . Mercutio was slightly different from what I had imagined and thought off but it’s a positive

R&J being an intense drama its nice how the manga ka has added humor to dilute the drama i.e. Odin as a sheep and better Odin happy being a sheep . It was rejuvenating to see how love was expressed and asked . The naïve question by Odin the refusal by Romeo Though Romeo has lot of traits common the original Juliet is niche . I liked this one to the Shakespeare one . This Juliet is more believable and adorable its feels like a real person then a cardboard cut out

Even though I know what’s going to happen I want to see more sure signs of a great show. Even if you know the story you can see the anime just for art or the wonderful characters created . The op was melodious while the ed was rocking

Ep 2 : This music has been the highpoint of this series and this episode was no different The first meeting between Romeo and Juliet was wonderfully handled. Though falling flowers is cliché for time standing still it was refreshing and I wasn’t bothered by that as I was caught up in the scene . The background designs are really intricate and detailed which feels as though you are transported into that realm This episode was slightly bitter sweet first love at first sight only to be shattered by the engagement

Juliet sounds and looks really cute when angry this Juliet for me anyway I prefer this angry version of Juliet to the emo version in Shakespeare play but I did have problems getting accustomed to Juli-etto to plane ole Juliet feels strange . The chase scene is spectacular they have managed to match up the Pegasus scenes from episode 1 The appearances of Crimson Whirl wind felt like a combo of Don Juan and Zorro

What happens at sixteen was rather intriguing as it doesn’t feature in the original Was delighted to see my other favorite character after Juliet, William it’s a humorous tribute. The interactions between R&J are sweetly handled feels as though poetry in motion . Japanese society has a cherry blossom Obsession it’s been nicely incorporated into the anime replacing the type of flowers

I thought of Zorro first time the Crimson Whirlwind came on screen, thought it was very very weird at first :p

This version of Juliet is alot stronger in character than the original play, at times I even feel she is over powering Romeo. Still, it's great to see that she's not just a flower vase, and is carrying alot of responsibilities on her shoulders ^^

I haven't noticed any use of Cherry Blossoms in R x J ... ( maybe I'm blind o.O? ... ) I did notice the repeat appearance of Irises in the anime though, not quite sure if they are supposed to symbolize anything. The only thing which comes to mind is Iris being a native flower of Italy. I'm surprised that Roses are not being used as the main theme, since they ARE the symbol of love and all :p

I am not talking about sakura , animes usally have cherry blossoms falling down or blowng away with the wind . Here they have used other flowers though in a similar fashion ^^

RxJ ain't one of my favorit animes, but it's clearly the best new anime from the past ½ year imo.


So could anyone tell me from what source Shakesbear had that sentence "Wherefore art thou Romeo"

Makes me wonder, what leanguage "Wherefore" is originally.
I know here we use "Hvorfor" as why and "Hvor" alone is the same as where...

Could someone tell me did't Shakesbear take more scandinavian or is it some other old language? Else is it as simple as old english like we also have "Forvel" here insted of the english farewell

So... much... irises. I swear, in the first several episodes, I was already expecting Romeo to say, "The scent of irises..." or "Irises..."

Yeah it seem early for the cosplay, but if theres a manga and its futher in the story... i suppose its understandable.

Good fanart, at first look the series animation and this drawing seem to be more towards females i suppose...
Still there's likely lots of other guys out there who enjoy this show as a healthy change, from usually watching shounens.

Those two episodes really don't go with the original plot, though. It's far from it, if compared to what happens in the play.

Well, im not using Torrents anymore, i prefeer the usual faster dl of Direct dl.
Still it's to bad having to wait a few extra days at times.
I really hope they won't get to a point where they rush the big emotional stuff.

Like with for instance the Full Metal Alchemist anime, the manga had some emotional strong moments, but they were tuned down in the anime.

Well the art style of the TB manga is more shoujo style then Shounen i'd say, though the anime is more Shounen style(or rather seinen as you said)

Reason i say they're more shoujo(girl like) in the manga is mainly the eyes of mainly the female characters.
Such as Ester, I like her look in the anime, but im not much for her manga look

^ Yeah, the art of manga!TB is very, very shoujo-like. A bit... Ouran-esque, but more touches of shoujo in it. And yes, Esther's design in the anime are much much better than the manga's. She's depicted as not as strong as she is in the anime, a bit weaker. o.O;

Not yet. I was trying to find them at the nearest bookstore; I only found vol. 1 and 2 of the manga, and the anime series. But not the books. :(

Oh and i bought the first novel of Trinity Blood yesterday together with Bleach V 19.
Had hoped the novel was the red mars project, but rage against the moons seem good aswell, to bad the 5 chapters i've readen this far all happend in ep 1 of the anime(just with more details)^^

Personally I proffered the character designs in Manga to Anime . The manga was more dark and brooding

No, no. The mangaka isn't dead. The original novelist is. He died after announcing that the anime was going to be made. The mangaka's style of art looks so shoujo, if you've seen vol. 1 and such. O:

No new season makes me sad. :(

AS for TB: I discovered it when it were at around ep 2-6 and followed it weekly till ep 10-11 where it got licend and the translations stoped for awhile... So i began giving the raws looks... And once the serie startet up with subs again i gave em a look aswell, also seen the 24 ep of the dub(clearly one of the best dubs i've seen, just a few voices i need to get used to like Ion & the pope)


Sounds like you guys havn't heard that there will likely come atleast 1 more Novel.
One of the authers friends whom is also a writer have been rumored to having picked up the notes of his friend to finish his work.

I have watched the show I somehow managed to get fan subs but that was really sweet of you appreciate it . Did you watch Black Blood Brothers its not cool as TB but I liked it more than TB . Ya know TB did feel a lil hurried . If Naruto manga or anime it would have crossed 100 episodes

I was under the impression the Capulet family was disbanded but they are still there Now we finally got to see Capulet’s coat of Arms flutter in full glory . I must say the sword looks uber Cool Xp

The animation is top notch it transports the viewers into the anime and the architecture is pristine they have taken care of even the minor details . With every episode I am finding more and more reasons to like William , it was funny how he said Mama . Julietto’s Akai kaze adventures are well known William’s mother is the very shrew and one of the most normal people seen in this show . Just like William I find her amusing and she also is in touch with reality

Juliet’s Seiyu has done a wonderful job she handles the seriousness that is Juliet and the Innocence that is Juliet with amazing ease. Nice voice modulation she is perfectly suited for the role Romeo’s mother looks very graceful Romeo gets his kindness and noble nature from her. Juliet as Akai Kaze looked really cool. The Romeo vs. Juliet duel was unexpected. The canals they have even replicated canals of Venice.. Romeo’s diaglougue was classy “ You not going to thank me for not saving “ and with these words I declare Romeo to be actually good enough to be with Juliet

The Hana-Kimi Jdrama is the only drama I'm concentrating on a lot right now. It's too funny. :3 I really do wish Nakatsu and Ashiya had gotten together. Sigh. It's so true, what you said, Tessa, Sano is a bit... bland. Especially in this drama. I haven't seen the cdrama, so I can't comment on that. o_____0
