Havn't readen em, but know Dune from:
playing 4 games with it and seeing both the old and the new version of the movie aswell as seeing part of the Tv-Serie
I absolutely love Asimov's works. I began to read them when I was 17 and I was totally hooked.
Lately, I read Tuf voyaging and I must say it's also a blast; Martin is still good, whether it's SF or fantasy that he writes.

I love Dune - Frank Herbert has the same thing as Tolkien of being able to create a completely different but completely believeable world and I really admire that. Also Duke Leto is love :p
Sirius by Olaf Stapledon is amazing
I also really like Cities In Flight by James Blish (I think that's his name, I don't have a copy to check)
Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke are always good.
I also have a thing for the cheap old science fiction paperbacks you can buy for like 50p in the back of second hand bookshops...trash, mostly, but some very good stuff

Ender's Game and Dune, hands down.
I haven't finished reading those yet, but I like what I've seen so far. Gotta pick those up again. Only got through the first few chapters of Ender's game and man, was it intense.
Oh yeah and 2001: A Space Odyssey wes excellent.
Edit: Also, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, better known as Blade Runner. Book is better IMO. :D

Julian May's Saga of the Exiles is truly awesome if you don't mind it being very "soft", as in, being totally fictional, with very little in the way of actual workable science.
