New Final Fantasy Game Announced For Wii

It's been announced at Nintendo's Fall Conference that Square Enix will be releasing a kooky spin-off of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles on the Wii. How is that kooky? Two reasons: one, it's a Wii Ware exclusive. So it's download-only. Second is that it sounds like it has a definite strategy vibe to it, with the player building and governing their own land. Sounds interesting. And different! At least one thing's old-fashioned Squeenix, though. The name. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Small King and the Promised Country. Ungh. Should be out in Japan in March.

Building and governing their own land eh? that sounds like those rts games. the fact that this has an FF tag on it intrigues me....

Crystal Chronicles is by far the worst game i have ever layed of FF. Though its good to see there stretching their horizons more on different platforms. Strange how its download only though.

@emoloz None of the final fantasy crystal chronicles have been alike. I would also say that Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding, and Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus were the worst final fantasy titles. I'll give Dirge of Cerberus it's awesome cutscenes though. As for why it's download only, it's probably because it's a title to test the waters. It's a country-building rpg. It's not an established genre in the general gaming world or in the crystal chronicles series. As such, it makes perfect sense to make the game a downloadable title since it's less risky for Square, and it allows the developers to be creative. Edit: Just so no one's confused. The other Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles title announced last year is still coming out so that makes two Final Fantasy titles planned for next year on the Wii. Also, Dragon Quest Swords will be out in America next year.
