Newest Gundam after the SEED Cosmic Era, Gundam 00 (Double O) takes place in the Anno Domini timeline in year 2307. During this time fossil fuels have become scarce and the major solar power sources are held within the hands of three major powers: The Human Reform League (present day India, China, and Russia), The Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (present day USA), and the Advanced European Union (present day European Union). The Earth is a war-torn place with the nations fighting for energy resources. As a result a private military organization called the Celestial Beings was created to stop war on the planet using Mobile Suits called Gundams piloted by 4 Gundam Meisters.

The Protagonists:

The main protagonist is 16-year-old Setsuna Seiei who grew up in the impoverished and conflict-filled Middle East. He pilots Gundam Exia.

Twenty-four-year-old Lockon Stratos isanother pilot whose parents were killed by terrorists in Ireland. He pilots Gundam Dynames.

Nineteen-year-old Allelujah Haptism is from the HRL and has a quiet disposition. He pilots Gundam Kyrios

Tieria Erde is a cold mysterious beautiful boy. Not much is known about him. He pilots Gundam Virtue.

It airs October Sixth on TBS. The first season will be 25 episodes, then a break, after which Gundam 00 will continue and eventually finish in 2009.

Episode 1 was so great :wtf

It lacked a bit in drama because it took some times to introduce a lot of plot points and characters, but I'm sure we'll soon get to know more about their lives and the way they interact soon (we'll probaly get some flashbacks of the pilots meeting for the first time too).

I agree that Episode was really good. I loved the opening so much, way better than the previous SEED and SEED Destiny ones. And although it was a bit slow, I liked the fact that we got to see a variety of characters.

It's also interesting to see a variety of factions, plus individual organizations, trying to control the order of the world. It'll make it more interesting.

I've watched the first episode, and i must say the art and animation quality is really good. So far the story seems okay i think, it didn't grab my attention like gundam seed did. I also don't really like all this "we're celestial beings and we're here to stop war" holier than thou vibe. One guy practically says Hallelujah....:lmao But we'll see how it goes and whether or not it will upstage gundam seed as my favourite gundam.

I was also wondering why Setsuna sounds so familiar....so he voiced Yagami Light as well eh. I find it interesting that this role also involves "acting like a god" to eradicate wickedness. :cool:

Welcome, Lchan!

I agree that the first episode of Seed was a lot more dramatic and emotional, but I like the fact that this Gundam is lot more political with different factions and sides being introduced at the forefront. Hopefully, we'll see more character development and emotional storylines as the episodes continue.

I like the "holier than thou" aspect because it's inherently problematic and we're going to see the problems the "Celestial Being" organizations are going to run into. I think we'll also see some of the pilots question their loyalty to this organization as well.

Don't hate on Setsuna just because he played Light. :cry :cry lol :P

@Byakun, I really liked the second episode. It was really interesting to see current ethnic conflicts be touched upon, in this case the Tamil/Sinhalese conflict in Sri Lanka.

Apart from the interesting politics, Graham totally wins the second episode. I also liked the fact that Setsuna showed some confusion and rebelliousness. He's not a carbon clone of Heero Yuy, the perfect soldier.

Yep, but at least it's being replaced by something interesting in Code Geass, I actually like Gundam a little more since I think CG is overrated.

Overall Gundam was the only series that I was actually interested in during the winter season. The spring seems to have a lot more to choose from than stupid harem shows which seem to be the norm right now other than Gundam.

Gundam has turned into a very good series, hopefully it keeps chugging along.

so how the hell are they going to continue this story? for now we got the mothership pretty much ruined, almost all of the gundams are badly damaged if not destroyed, and that mobile armor is pretty tough.

there is noway that the bad guy will lose like that, he still tottaly unknown, i think that the good guys will be defeated and then someone will take them and they will retreat back to jupiter( or whatever place that made the furnaces) and return after several years\months with the earth under control of some dictatorship that spawned after that final fight in space(most likely with that UN guy as the leader or his family)

Well they still have Ian for all the tech jobs, I'm sure they have a base where ever Lasse got the gn arms from. So I'm assuming CB will be totally defeated in s1. And in s2 we see the main three villains Ali, Alejandro, Ribbons in charge. And CB makes their dramatic comeback as well in s2 with new advanced gundams.

I hope their will be a little time gap between s1 and s2.

didnt they said that the furnaces can be made only in jupiter or something? that mean that there is some base over there right? i agree that they will lose in s1 and when they will come back with new gundams (i guess that feldt will also join or something) they will try to undermine the new world order that the UN guy would make. this would also give enough time for saji to join and pilot a mega evil mecha one day to kill all gundams (this will be the first time that a a gundam series will keep an eye on a bad pilot from the start making him a much more sympatic 'bad guy' especially when i understand his anger.

As for Saji it will be interesting to see how he plays out in s2. I think their is a possibility for him to stay good once he sees what the world has become after CB has disappeared. Which will propel him to search for them.

as for the jupiter base, i doubt they built ships on earth side, then sent them to jupiter and then made a base or something to create the gundams or furnaces, and then bring the base back, they either abondened it or brought it back which seems a little stupid.

i dont think that staying in earth side will work for the good guys, even if they win in this little fight they will still be badly wonded, their ship is destroyed, their powers are almost completly destroyed (1 confirmed dead, one is unknown, one is still in combat with severe dmg, and one fighting the mega boss) and the enemy still have hundreds of mechas that can beat what left from CB.

I think clearly Alejandro has some evil intentions for the world, so under his dictatorship I don't think anyone can be considered good. And their base is called Lagrange point 3, and by no means would it would be logical for their base to be in jupiter. The distance from where their at to jupiter is too crazy to have a base.

Concerning Saji, when he finds out CB has been defeated he will have no reason to be angry. Alejandro's dictatorship or whoever is in command of the united forces will definitely stir up controversy. Saji is a morally strong individual, so if he is witnessing something going wrong with the world, i don't think he will idly stand by and join its forces, especially considering CB will look to be destroyed by the end of s1.

its not that kind of base, its more like a shipyard or factory, to make such place work i guess it will have other facilities so that base was abondened years ago by CB when they finished the gundams\furnaces (keep i mind that i include the option that only the furnaces were made there)
as for working for the UN dictatorship, every1 already work for them,the 3 super powers already joined.
its likely that a martial law will be forced on the earth to 'defeat' CB who would be considered as terror group (tanks to the thrones).


i think the plan was this:
CB were made to destroy war, only 4 gundams and thats it. alejandro made 33 fake furnaces, 3 were given to throne, 30 were kept at the side.
the thrones make CB look like terrorists, and then the 30 furnaces are gave to the three super power who form an alliance, those 30 units beat down both thrones and CB. but CB is still considered alive, the UN secreat groups keep black ops that make it seems like CB are still around carrying terror attacks and the 'alliance' is forcing martial law and super hyperactive patriot laws to 'combat' the CB while they are played by the UN. in reality the idea is to bring the 3 super powers under the UN control to combat 'CB' and to force martial laws who will make the people look at the UN alliance as acceptable evil until the bad guys are beaten.

if the new dictatorship mission is to beat CB then its possiable that Saji will join only to beat them and to make the martial laws stop with the destruction of CB, two birds with 1 stone for saji.


when CB will return from their long trip to jupiter and back they will find a diffrent world, united, with alot more super mecha's, against them.

Good start to the new season, good to see that the technology has improved, but we aren't too far into the future. Visuals are still great, good pacing, good reintroduction into the world. Just a very good start. I am very much looking forward to seeing this every sunday instead of Code Geass.

Yes the Exia was beaten, but we have to remember this was as someone else put it in another forum Hobo Exia, it was a Exia that was using a damn tarp to cover up on side of it, so I don't think we should be too surprised it was defeated. Really I hope the Gundams struggle, because really they were too over powered in the first season. What I mean is that it was obvious that the gundam pilots weren't actually that good, it was just that they had ultra powered suits.

Epic episode is epic. I think that it´s Lockon´s twin brother, Lyle. I think that from all characters, I´m surprised with what they did to Allelujah (he reminds me Hanibal in the Silence of the Lambs). I also wonder what are Wang Liu Mei’s intentions. For the most part of the series, she has been neutral.

And I guess that the guy with the mask is Graham? Can´t wait to see the next episode.

Chinese girl I think her name is Wang is such a freakin bitch, she just goes to either side on a whim, all in the name of ending war, but really pick a fucking side or at least have a very good reason for switching sides, I hope her bodyguard betrays her at some point.

As for Setsuna he isn't as bad as Kira, he doesn't cry when he kills someone, he isn't invincible as Kira, and well again he doesn't cry every third episode.

As for the new Lockon, I think it's sort of frustrating that they gave him the exact same face, I think if they had had a bit of change of appearance, but a nearly similar voice it would work out better, as you said it's almost like Lockon never died, I'm sure they will keep reminding us that this isn't the same person, but still he looks and speaks the same, it's almost as if they did this to appeal to fangirls who liked his character.

Finally for CB, well what can you say, their intentions and reasons have always been flawed, so I can't say I'm really surprised that they would not stop, though this time I guess there is some justice in the fact that there is people being oppressed, before it was a lot more complicated, and thus I always felt that CB was being too simple minded, here it seems as if there is a very simple reason for fighting, which is to fight against a unjust world government.

Gundam 00 has some flaws, but overall I really like it still.

i remember in the first episodes when they got into a conflict between two tribes and blew up both their mechas...good..now the weak side is defensless and the other side will just kill them with guns instead of giant mechas...you didnt stopped conflict, you simply forced the two sides to use fists instead of sticks.


and when you do reach the situation where the world is peaceful you decide its not alright? dosnt fit your world view? did it mattered to you that the world you created didnt fit in the view of many people? when will you stop blowing stuff up? when everything is bunnies and rainbows?

well in that case they would most likely blow up the bunnies for provoking the foxes to eat them...for once i want to see a realistic hero in gundam (i actually liked some but its usually those short shows of less than 20 episodes)

I totally agree, a lot of these issues could be related to our world today, and really the are, especially from a American perspective.

CB is just plain stupid for thinking they can simply stop war by intervening in the wars. I mean when two sides have been fighting each other for hundreds of years they aren't going to stop just because a larger power tells them to, they will simply find a way to do it without getting caught.

Gundam male leads always seem to be characters that I wish I could like and root for, but usually there are a couple of traits that make me:facepalm every few episodes, whether that be a self righteous attitude, near invincibility, or incessant crying. Though as you said it's more a trait of the leads from the epic length versions.

While the situation now is one where you have to feel frustrated with CB for deciding on their own that this is not the world that they want, and simply going against what they first advocated, I do like this setup then the past one, at least here they are going against largely a singular entity, I think it might work better in the long run.

for example, africa, there are hundreds of orgz called ''the something liberation\democratic\freedom of something'', and all of those groups are killing and raping and slaughtering civilians...rebelion isnt always the good guys.

it would be really boring actually if the new UN is evil and wish to declare that cyan kid as the first emperor of the earth empire.

I think that's where we are headed though. I kind of think the writers just decided that they would simplify things and make this a rebellion type series. I get the feeling that the UN is a pretty brutal regime. Not just because of the mining and prison stuff, but because of the whole rebellion group, it just seems as if there was such a group that there would be a good reason for it. My guess is that all the smaller countries in the UN are being exploited by the larger countries, and that the A-Laws is the force that keeps them under control. Now all of this is just pure speculation, but Gundam shows seem to like to pull of these types of stories, the whole underdog and fighting the oppressive regime and stuff.

I also was bit weirded out by Soma and Sergei's arrangement, I guess he basically made her his daughter, but still it seemed a little weird to seem them sipping tea.

Finally got to watched the episode today the episode was pretty good. Seeing Louise piloting one of those new suits reminded me of Stella just because she was kinda breaking down when she saw the Gundam and then popping pills afterwards. Every character seem different especially Allelujah. Anyways it was a good episode and it's a nice start for the second season.

Wang Liu Mei is just doing her usual thing, that is trying to be too smart for her own good.

As for Setsuna basically fixing the 00's problem, it was a pretty convoluted thing, but I guess it goes with the whole "I am Gundam" thing.

The new Lockon is just doing everything so that it will help Catalan, it's pretty obvious that at some point CB will go up against Catalan and Lyle with have to choose between the two.

I've always thought that among the gundams of 00, Alleujia's was pretty much the most useless of the bunch, so it could transform... wing zero could transform also but it could wipe out a colony with ease. I'm not feeling anything from that orange gundam...

Exia and 00 pwned, Lockon's was a sniper= super long ranged pwnage, Tieria-chan's gundam had super firepower, plus that Nadeleh form pwned, even though it might've been impressive if it wasnt linked to veda and could affect any mobile suit, (making it now worthless against any newer suit; but it's still better than the do nothing orange gundam :learn

overall its the most useless design...not pilot.

sure it transform but dosnt really do any role, after all, all of the gundams beside virtue were super fast and for example exia close quarters combat...this was also useless cuz all gundams could do that.

the two most uniqe gundams are virtue and sniper...but the sniper have this annoying robot so its a fail.



a side note about shin. if you look at the first episode of GSD its clear that the show started as shinn centered and his vengance against kira (looking at the firing angles its clear kira killed shin family. they could have made shin kill kira halfway and take his role as defender later on and the show would have been much better but instead the show ended being an exact copy of the first.

shin isnt the cause of the show being bad, he is the greatest victim of it.

Yes, he was a victim of the show, but he was a also a character that was never that great.

Really I think the whole thing would have been better if we had just focused on cool characters like say Yzak or I don't know that Wadtfeld guy, just not emo Shinn, useless Athrun, or Jesus Kira.

As for the Krytios or whatever it was called, I guess it's only thing was that it was fast, but as was said before Exia is fast and had better weapons. I guess it was just good for shooting down planes and stuff, but then again any gundam is good at that.

I was fortunate today to find the gundam model kit i've been searching for. :yay It was difficult finding it locally, and it ended up being at a place i had called earlier in the day but they said they didnt have it. I was planning on checking another store nearby and it ended up being closed so i went to the other to see if it could be ordered and :zomg there it was on the shelf :zomg :yay

I purchased the 1/144 HG kit for Gundam Exia and i had read somewhere that it takes about four hours to complete the kit, and they aren't whistling dixie. :laugh it's been three hours now and i'm not finished yet. but i'm astonished at how complex these kits are. I used to build many of the gundam wing and G model kits and those were so easy compared to this, i could do those in my sleep. Then again, they weren't a tenth as flexible as the exia, just the leg itself has three articulating joints.

What's nice about the HG is that it's more flexible, and comes with all seven blades.

I was also considering purchasing the roll out version of Exia which is not colored at all, it's some kind of promotional kit for a Nintendo DS game based on 00. But it only includes two of the seven blades.

anyways, I'll post a picture of the completed model when i'm finished.

Why is it that the A-laws people are so much more likeable? It's funny even now I am still rooting for the "bad guys" CB sucks, they have no one interesting, and their reasons for doing things is just terrible. I mean the way that they and Kataron think that using Automatrons to kill is just silly, I mean why shouldn't the A-laws use these machines to defeat the enemy? It's stupid, it's like the people think they shouldn't be attack despite the fact that they are a anti-government organization.
