Can i ask what makes this game so darn intersting my brother sepnds hours and all he seems to do is run around. Confuses me.

As big fan of RPG games, its like that but instead of your party being static beings that are just there, your party consists of actual people. They talk back to you and interact with you. It's a whole other dimension to it.

Why WoW and not FFXI or EQ or those others... Having played the warcraft games, it just makes it all the more interesting because I know that story. In my own way I was part of the unravelling of that story and now I'm shaping how that story continues.

And it's fun. It's more than just hack-n-slash like other MMORPGS. There's actual strategy involved and that strategy can be blown out of the water on some random thing happen. Even if you're doing the same thing over and over, there's an element of surprise.

I won't bother listing my multitude of other chars that I never did much with since I was a mage addict. I was leveling up a shammy, I enjoyed her, but you know school happened. I also began to feel like playing had become a job of sorts. Log in...do the daily netherdrake quests, rape Karazhan, rape Gruul. I kinda miss playing now..all my friends tell me about the bosses they have beaten....I really wanted to fight some of them. Leotheras looked really awesome, as well as Kael. I mean...whats better than your shadow trying to kill ya?! The royal rumble phase of Kael just looks freaking awesome....

Anyone ever notice most women choose to play alliance? More specifically a nelf priest? When I started playing people were flabbergasted on vent when I spoke, they were like "A FEMALE?! On HORDE?! An UNDEAD FEMALE played by a real FEMALE! HOLY CRAP MY MIND ASPLODE!" It was awesome though..since 90% (I'm estimating) of WoW players are male they treated me special. I sort of had a few personal bitches that would do anything for me! Then I got my 375 enchanting and everyone was raping me for rare enchants....bastards!

Although I'm guilty of playing alliance i also did have horde characters on another server. The only reason why i played on alliance was all my friends wanted to be alliance. Nightelf rogues mostly...go figure...

Although it is beneficial to be a girl playing WOW I find some girls take it too far. I define taking it too far when you start dating half of the guild, most of the male population of your guild know how you look like naked, and inviting them all to "visit" you.

It's all good if you want them to do stuff for you, just dont sell yourself for less in the process.

@ Thantos - I think WOW is a great MMORPG it does it's job of entertaining people and offering new content, be it PVE or PVP. And some people dont mind pay the $15 subscription fee per month to be entertained. To be fair burning crusade only came out about a year ago and they have already announced plans for the next expansion Wrath. So I think blizzard is doing a great job with WOW especially for their first MMORPG.

Well... getting to 70 isn't supposed to be a big deal in the first place. The game really only just begins once you reach the level cap. :p And that is why I prefer WoW over free MMOs -- there is actual decent endgame content. Most free MMOs these days are nothing more than endless grindfests...

Anyway. After I started working last year, I had to stop playing WoW so much. I'm slowly getting back into it, but I don't have the time to raid anymore so my gear sucks... and I am also one of those female players guilty of making an Alliance NE Priest, although it's not my main. :p

Some people just don't like showing their picture on the net!

@Than WoW doesn't really suck...there's tons of challenges to overcome! The coordination and expertise required in some of the fights is really amazing and fosters great friendships. WoW is a great teacher of teamwork!

Aaah....I have the itch to play again...but not WoW. I'll check out those games Than suggested and see how I like em. I can at least play until my next semester starts....

Raiding is still a big part of endgame. The dungeons just aren't 40-man anymore, they're 25-man (or 10-man, but those are doable with pickup groups, Karazhan (http://www.wowhead.com/?zone=2562) for example). The raid dungeons post-expansion in order of difficulty are (discluding Karazhan and Zul'Aman):

12sky is a new game realeased in june this year...


and already they have had updates and massive improvments...


my main argument is:

World of warcraft is tacky, its all cartoony and crap...

the effects leave mutch to be admired

the monsters are more of jokes than monsters "not scary". >.<

and i think the items suck, yeah u can enchant them... whoopty doo^^

you can enchant item on every other MMORPG...


On games like silkroad, the highest level at the moment is 80... (im no where near^^)

and the same as wow the game only starts when you get to level 80...

you can be a theif, or a trader or a hunter and their acctualy jobs, not little "oh i think ill collect some herbs now" hobbies...


also the graphics are better = more realistic

the effects arnt just stupid glows... XD

and the players actually talk and make friends so your never alone like on wow when u are in the middle of a forrest on your own tanking mobs


15£ a month? or a free game thats actually better?

but the end of the day wow's still an ok game i played it for a while and yeah i got hooked aswell, then my payment ran out and i just found it dull and boring...

thats why i explored other games...


Trust me Silkroad and 12sky are the 2 best free games i have ever downladed...

you should give em a try.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. They are at Illidan now. I have killed everything but Archimonde, Sharahz and the Council. I feel so left out.

Btw, nowadays KZ is puggable, ZA is NOT. That place does not mess around. And I like it more than Hyjal (love Trolls.), but I can never get a super smooth run going.

Schn totally has it right, my profile == OP. WE have guild drama. But we're pretty laid back about it. It often goes 'Man I hate being on the bench. whine whie....oh well gonna go do something else.' That's our drama. I think that is both caused and cured by smaller zones.

Pinoy, it is so crazy...there really are people who have no life except WoW. Some people in my battlegroup were famous pvpers who were ALWAYS in a freaking BG and made it their life's work to own you over and over and over...

(translation for non wow player-a battle group is a group of servers where people can come together in a battleground-a battleground is a pvp event where you have some sort of objective to complete while killing people and trying to stay alive-pvp means player vs player)

In my opinion Frost Mages aren't really that effective against hunters, perhaps against rogues.

It doesn't benefit you to snare a hunter.
Hunters can get out of frost nova with bestial wrath.
Beast mastery hunters pets are a pain in the ass.

Who knows i don't have a hunter, but i find hunters hard as a frost mage. Now on my warlock i could deal with a hunter no problem ^_-

Frost Nova? They don't work too well with the shrinking of the dead zone. I mean, pop the nova and chances are I've already dropped a trap and can either shoot or melee you. And don't laugh at my melee, I've solo'd warriors and rogues. Ice block? Ok, I'll walk away and start casting aimed shot.

As for locks, lol...unless I'm not BM in which case it's a range game...and in BGs that's way not easy.


Meh, I don't arena much. Too lazy. But I did enjoy the UC 5v5 stage. Of COURSE I hate the bridge one. I'm a hunter. We always hate Arenas.

As for the Heilcopter. Nah, I have a Nether Ray AND a Nether Drake. No need to burn gold that I recently learned will be spent wiping to Illidan. Oh, did I mention I fought the Betrayer tonight? Needless to say, we were not prepared. Tanks have it so rough in that fight.

Saw it yesterday. :) A lot of people have been saying it sucks, but I personally love it. I've never played the Warcraft games so I don't know any of the lore, but Arthas' story got me interested and I've been reading tidbits on WoW Wiki. :3

I just came back from a year long break from WoW a few weeks ago. I've been playing since '04. Was a hardcore raider pre-BC on my Paladin, saw the vast majority of content there was to see. Really looking forward to finishing Naxxramas in WotLK, since I've cleared most of the instance in vanilla WoW.

I started out on Arthas (PvP), eventually transferred with the guild to Mal'Ganis (PvP), and transferred to Zul'jin when I returned because my younger bro plays on Zul'jin. It's nice not to have to worry about being ganked for a change.

Anyone else play on Zul'jin? And perhaps need to add a sick Elemental Shaman to their raiding team? Heheh. No matter how hard I try, I can't get raiding out of my blood. :D

Anyway, I've got 3 characters, I've bought the game the very moment it came out so it isn't that much tbh.

As to why I like this game, is because that (in my case) you can still be a focus, known and good player without "nerding" too much on it. Since, my main focus, PvP, hence, Arenas, after hit an high rating you just need to keep it, not playing too much nor too less, so gives you tiem for other stuff. I never had WoW as a priority, but whenever I played it I did my best on it for farming stuff fast and such.

And talking on BA's spammage while leeching AV is PURE FTW :lmao

Honestly, 've tried Silkroad, and it sucks ass. But, unliek you, I'll say, "that's my opinion".

I just don't find it fun that you take a whole day to do just one quest. I remember having to collet 50 items that had like 10% droprate. no fun.

Saw it yesterday. :) A lot of people have been saying it sucks, but I personally love it. I've never played the Warcraft games so I don't know any of the lore, but Arthas' story got me interested and I've been reading tidbits on WoW Wiki. :3

Honestly I find the cinematic both good and not so good at the same time. What I've always loved about Warcraft is its lore. Really. It has a great lore just like an anime itself :zomg. I don't like strategy games that much but played Warcraft just for the lore!

So, back to the topic, the voice that you hear, about a king bosting their forces and such, whas what Arthas father told him before he died. Yes, Arthas was a human once (and he actually still is, he's a death knight and fight for the undead, but he never died).

Like, in my point of view, the cinematic showed how great a king of the Humans Arthas would be, since he could accomplish what his father told him a great king needed to do, but his minions were undeads, not humans, as his father would expect.

I find it not so good 'cause I wanted some fighting there :p. Some gnomes kicking Taurens asses. Yes. We need gnomes in the cinematics :yell.

Hehe. 2049 ? Wow, that's quite good for someone who focus more on PvE. Haha 1 point from the weapon.

My best was 2300 with my Hunter, back then on season 2, yes, before no deadzone, before Mortal Strike Aimed shot and before Dispelling Arcane Sht.

Aha, Druid Priest Warrior is indeed a good setup. 2 healers team are quite used now in season 4. I believe that's 'cause, compared to the previous seasons, the survivability from the gear is a really high, making you ultimately outmana your opponents.

I honestly think PvP gear should be nerfed in terms of survivability and buffed in damage, because this is making 2 healer teams insane.

My favorite kind of arena is 3v3 : p. I like 2v2 with my mage now though. With my Hunter or Priest it was boring 'cause most of the games were about outmana. I've seen my bro playing warrior druid. Really long games :\. Though now with mage I play 2 DPS setup, making it way cooler :yay.

LORE is being a lot more important now in WOTLK :wtf. on BC it was so dumped. Illidan was not meant to die. ILLIDAN WAS NOT MEANT TO DIE :yell.

So... I just got Polymorph: Turtle then happened to see there's a wow thread here so I thought I'd brag about it :p

I play w/ my friend I've known forever (it's the easiest way we can hang out w/ both our schedules), we quit a couple times cause we got addicted, bored, etc. but now we just sorta fuck around and do whatever's fun (PvP >.> not seriously though). Chars are Zthill (70 mage and my main) and Tenonee (70 priest) on Scilla, nobody else has the names so they shouldnt be hard to find :)

Can't wait till WotLK, fire tree looks so fun XD

I can't bring myself to raid, it requires far too much time and commitment for me, I'd end up changing my schedule for WoW and that's a line I wont cross heh... I've heard from some people that some of the end game raids are pretty fun though...

Some raids are pretty fun, some are really tedious. It just depends on the fight. I wouldn't say it takes a ton of time, depending on the guild (I think my guild spends about 12 hours a week in raids), but is a commitment...For the early progression raids though, you can often find PuGs to do it with, some of them are actually pretty good. Gruul's and Mag's don't require a lot of time to clear.

Poly Penguin just changes the base spell. If you want pigs and turtles, you can use a macro to randomize which spell to cast. I'm pretty sure there's one on the Mage forums. :)

:devestated noo. Illidan didn't deserv death :XD. He did a lot of crap, true, but as you ear many times, "the ends justify the middles". All he did was to save the night elves or to kill Arthas.

I farmed it twice, me healing with my priest and my brother tanking with his warr. (It takes some time, but fish boss in ZG can be soloed by 2). Never dropped :cry. A friend of mine got it at his 1st try and sold it for 1800g. Lucktard :notrust.

And yeah, I think this is a level 80 quest chain. I'm tempted to make a premade character just to do it. It also wouldn't hurt to try out the new battleground, I heard it's really fun!

Edit: And yeah, Sylvanas was betrayed by Varimathras and Purtress. The Horde lose the Undercity, so there's a quest chain to take it back, which frankly is freaking awesome. Alliance don't have the option to do that, unfortunately. =( And the human King gets really pissy with the Horde because of the incident in the cinematic, even though it was not Sylvanas' fault.

Yeah, I think a Blizz person said on the forums that it was just a joke or something. :p But there IS a strong bond between Thrall and Jaina. I dunno if they'd ever add that in-game though -- Jaina true "love" is studying magic, and there's also speculation that Blizzard will make Garona Halforcen (http://www.wowwiki.com/Garona_Halforcen#BlizzCon_mention) Thrall's future love interest. =S

Sure, you're working towards fighting Kael and Illidan and so on, but there weren't any world-shaking events like this. The closest I can think of is Thrall in Nagrand, but that's pretty mundane compared to this honestly. It's just something I never really thought about as "missing" until we got it.
About this, I totally agree with you. I didn't feel as immersed in the world as I did when I first started WoW. Maybe it has something to do with Outlands being a whole different planet? :confused:

But anyway, I think TBC's focus was more on upgrading the level of gameplay from vanilla WoW, and not so much the lore. Which was great actually, as a Druid I was extremely happy with the changes. Even someone from the Warhammer team said they had to push back the Warhammer release date because of the quality of TBC.

I'm glad that WotLK isn't turning out to be another TBC, though. :D Blizzard's outdone themselves once again. And the bar for MMO quality goes up and up... I just hope they revisit and revamp the old world sometime. :(

I was thinking about the epicness of the Battle for the Undercity quest line, and it occurred to me that there wasn't really any plot shakeups while leveling in TBC. Sure, you're working towards fighting Kael and Illidan and so on, but there weren't any world-shaking events like this. The closest I can think of is Thrall in Nagrand, but that's pretty mundane compared to this honestly. It's just something I never really thought about as "missing" until we got it.

Vanilla WoW didn't have much lore either. 25 "random heroes" defeating Kel'thuzad... Though this was game's hardest boss. Still, some NPC's help should exist. But, they are correcting this by bringing Naxxramas on WotlK : D.

I have to disagree with vanilla WoW not having any lore. The Black Dragonflight's schemes, the rise of C'Thun and the backstory behind that...even with lower-level things like Gnomeregan and the Defias, vanilla WoW did quite a bit to expand on the Warcraft story. It just didn't build on the WC3 storylines very much.

I replayed TFT a few weeks back. Maiev really is obsessed. It'd be neat if she showed up again in a future content patch.

So how's 3.0 patch treating everyone?? I was dismayed at the Resto Druid changes at first (Lifebloom noticeably nerfed), but now I'm really loving it. Finally, Druids have an AoE heal! It's nice to see all those numbers on my screen during a raid. :) Also, Hurricane is way overpowered right now. During Mount Hyjal all I do is spam Hurricane during trash, and it'll put me 3rd in damage meters, as a healer. :heehee

I also went crazy with the exploration achievements and finished them all in one day. After that I was too burned out to try out any other achievements... :oops

I thought Sylvanas is supposed to be the really tough one? City raids are going to be near-impossible to do over the next month though with the levels of guards being bumped up. I'm amazed people keep trying.

Nah, after patch 3.0 Cairne is the really hard one. His mortal strike hits for like 17k on plate and he repeatedly drops aggro and goes around one shotting people, so you need like 8 tanks to chain spam taunt since most of them will be resisted due to his raised level. -.-

The guy who wrote a guide on wowhead says you'd need a full raid of 40 people with T6/S4/Sunwell gear in order to kill him. I can see why. On our best attempt, we only managed to get him down to 75%. :(

Aww, I'm enjoying most of the new zones. ^^ I liked Borean Tundra and I love what I've seen of Dragonblight so far. That zone is packed with quest lore.

On the other hand, Howling Fjord was a big letdown. The quest pathing was terrible and the writing vague... Really such a big waste for such a beautiful zone. Some of the quests were fun, though... (flying robot, harpoon surfing, etc.)

As for instances, I didn't really care much for Nexus. Utgarde Keep was much more visually pleasing, but still really easy. But Blizzard's genius really starts showing once you get to Azjol-Nerub, Ahn'kahet, and Drak'Tharon Keep. Those dungeons were amazing. I almost let my tank die a few times because I was too busy looking around, haha. :wtf

Borean Tundra was pretty fun. Dragonblight is boring at first, but the quests get better. I also am playing with all my school friends, so it's a lot more fun. Azjol-Nerub was pretty fun, Utgarde was pretty, Nexus is meh. Haven't done DTK or Ahn'kahet yet, but I hear good things. Overall I am enjoying northend, but as I said most of my close school friends play. Anyone who wants is free to make a character on our server and join our guild, we will help you level.

Ran Drak'tharon Keep last night on my 74 DK... It's amazing. It gets even better if you've got the Drakuru questline nearly finished.

After you kill Prophet Tharon'ja you get a chance to summon Drakuru, it turns out he has betrayed you and joined the Lich King. You get to go to Zul'Drak zone and start up a whole 'nother questline and kill Drakuru at the end.

Borean Tundra was fun, Nexus is horrible, Ahn'Kahet is fun, Utgarde is fun, DTK is fun, haven't done Azjol'Nerub, and I'm hoping to do Gun'Drak soon.

Hit 72 on my druid. Azjol Nerub is pretty interesting. Nice and quick. It's funny cause, I got two pieces of gear from boss drops, then replace them immediately after through two quests I completed there.

Been playing consistently since the expansion came out, and got my main char (mage) to lvl 77 atm. Pretty hard going since you need millions of xp to gain a level. Generally speaking I think Blizz have done a much better job with Wrath than they did Burning Crusade. Theres just so much LORE going on all the time.

Dragonsblight has been my highlight so far. Yeah it starts of slow, but my GOD it ends witha bang. Wont spoil it for those yet to do it. All I will say is I can believe its taken Blizz THIS LONG to have this kinda of in game ineraction and the game actually changes with your actions.

Like the Death Knight zone. Very, very cool has to be said. Level 77, and still quite a few zones to go.

P.S - As good as Dragonsblight was IMO, Brizzly hills is at the opposite end of the scale. I really do dislike that area :(

i finally bought the expansion and I for one really enjoy it. The deathknight beginning quest were really fun and quick, and it results in some badass armor. Although there are new islands i'm almost dreading getting my 70 to 80 due to how much time it took to get to 70. Well university is closed for six weeks so i guess theres nothing else to do lol

Got to level 80 in just under 10 days /played, which just shows how much of a "wow geek" I am ATM hehehe.

Still think the end of Dragonblight was amazing, but theres a quest chain in Icecrown that just about tops it. I just love that for once Blizz have put this much work into quests, into their lore, and actually tied everything in!

On a personal note, I think I had to be the luckiest wow player in existence last week.

Done my first ever heroic instance (for real) in Utgarde pinnacle, and got a rare flying mount drop. Done 3 more heroics since and got some pretty nice purples! The best bit is when I got the Epic mount, I didnt have the epic mount flying skill yet, took me 2 days of hard grafting to actually get 6000g for the skills :(

Still loving the game. Trying to decide wether I want to level a DK or Pala next :/

Go ret to level up then respec holy for the end game. That way you can get to enjoy ret for a while, level faster, but still fulfill the need for more healers.

I tried the new BG yesterday for a couple of games. It's quite good. A little messy, but as a premade it should be awesome. Lots of tatics can be put on play there.

A quick rant..

It's funny how stubborn people are when it comes to Death Knights. Most people think you have to be Frost to tank. For those of you reading this, I'll save you the trouble of being flamed: Each spec can tank and dps.

The talents required for a serious endgame Death Knight tank are Blade Barrier, Toughness, and Anticipation.

Any DK can tank leveling instances, but for heroics and such, yeah they should be frost. Also thanks Grey. Been dicking around now, since I don't have much better to do (since I don't like pugs, I need to wait for my friends to run heroics)

They don't have to be Frost, even for heroics. As long as they've got that 5/5/5, they can do whatever they'd like. Each spec has its quirks. However most people seem to go deep into the Frost or Unholy Trees for tanking. I've yet to see a Blood tanking build, although I'm sure they're some out there. (I'm thinking this is because the AoE and mitigation talents of Frost and Unholy seem a bit more popular for tanking than the healing abilities of Blood. I'll keep you guys updated should I find a deep blood tank)

Another subject that's been coming up a lot is Dual Wielding. It's looked down upon, by the majority, for tanking and DPS. It hasn't been tested properly though, so we'll have to wait and see. I personally never thought of Dual Wielding as a DK. I'd rather lug around a huge ass sword. :p

Oh, and if anyone is curious about when to use which presence, here you go:

Blood: PvE (Dps)
Frost: Tanking
Unholy: PvP


Here are the latest comments from Blizz Officials regarding upcoming DK changes.
We’ve had a lot of questions about death knights recently. This is a new class, and while we’re thrilled overall with how it's been received, we always expected to have to make more changes to death knights than the classes that have had their talents under the microscope for many years.

We’re not prepared to announce specific changes to DKs yet, but here are some general areas we are tinkering with. Most of these changes apply predominantly to tanking death knights, so I avoided cross-posting this thread, but there are probably items of interest to dps specs as well.

1) Death knights seem to tank well when they have cooldowns available and take too much damage otherwise. The change here seems obvious – boost Frost presence’s mitigation while reducing the mitigation of some other abilities, especially Icebound Fortitude and Bone Shield.

2) One idea we have for Icebound Fortitude is to scale the mitigation based on defense skill. This lets the ability be less of a paladin bubble in PvP for dps knights, while still letting it act more like Shield Wall for tanks. It also has the side effect of making defense slightly more attractive to death knights. (Let me add before it’s asked that yes we understand Ferals have this problem too and we are working on it.)

3) Unholy is a very popular tanking spec, largely on the strength of Bone Shield. Expect to see some buffs to tanking talents in the Blood tree especially.

4) Rune Strike was intended to be a reactive tanking tool, not a rogue killer. We will probably chill its weapon damage and increase its threat.

5) We don’t like the behavior where DKs feel like they are supposed to drop Death and Decay to generate runic power before a pull. It just looks goofy. We will probably lower the runic power costs of Unholy Blight and Horn of Winter, which seem to be the primary reasons to generate RP. Horn of Winter will probably be something like no cost, 30 sec cooldown, generates 10 rp.

EDIT: I am refering to using DnD outside of combat just for the runic power (kind of like Bloodrage for warriors). It's totally legit and intended to use it to start a fight to gain threat and hurt the bad guys.

6) There are some odd situations caused by Shadow of Death that we would like to fix. The talent isn’t designed to let you escape durability damage or rez by zoning into an instance.

7) There are some annoying parts of the non-pet ghoul. We want to lower the aggro range (for less accidental pulls) and spawn the ghoul in quicker when dismounting. The ghoul, at least Unholy’s version, could also use some AE avoidance like other pets.

8) We are probably going to add a new spell to let you raise fallen allies so that you don't have to make the decision between bringing back another player (which was just supposed to be a fun bonus) and bringing back your ghoul, which can be pretty crticial for some specs.

And yea, any spec can tank any instance. Endgame or not. TOtally agree with Fortu there. They only need those 5 points on each tree.

But then, there are trees better for some encounters than others. I heard something before WotlK was launched about having 2 talent trees one can change between without paying.

Like Unholy would probably be better for spellcasters.

Also, I think dual wield is good : D. I tried it in my beta death knight, and it is a must if you're speccing Killing Machine imo. Most 2Handers have 3.50 attack speed. You won't get much auto hits, as such, KIlling Machine won't proc.

With Dual Wield it's always up.

Of course, you can go frost without DWing and not putting talents there. OR you can put talents there and it's still good, but that talent is mostly for DW imo.

BTW, just did the Wrath Gate and Battle for the Undercity quests.

Wow. Just Wow. Blizzard has done a GREAT job regarding that stuff. It was amazing. And it really gave you a sense of importance

Man ive been playing quite a bit lately and im still only 75 lol. Its really frustrating after you turn in about five or six quests and see the exp bar barely move:eek:. Although ive been working up my professions. So far my eng-415 while i managed to get mining-450. I got lucky today and found the heavy frostweave bandage manual.

Wow i don't know if you guys have done it, but i just did one of the most exciting and entertaining quests I've ever seen. Battle for the undercity i think its called. I wont spoil it for those who haven't done it yet, but i highly recomend doing that quest chain :)

Mid 70s I believe, Ashi. You have a ways to go. I suggest sticking with one toon and leveling him/her.
