Ok, so I have been thinking of getting a tat for some time now but this just dawned on me. I have pretty mild skin allergies. Mostly it's just small rashes when my skin coms into contact with any metal with nickel in it such as watches or belts. Not too severe just annoyances.
The question I was asking is would it be ok to get a tattoo evn tho I have this mild condition. I don't know if the metal needle actually comes in contact witht the skin or just the ink. If they have like nickel free metal needles that'd be ok but I don't know if they make those, lol.
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!

go see a doctor before doing anything. a rash is still a rash, and anything can make it worse. so be careful ^_^
Gothic Lolita is right, seeing a doctor would be best.
there shouldn't be a problem with getting a tattoo, but the metal will contact your skin, and if you have skin allergies maybe the ink will react with it. Getting the right info from a doctor can't hurt:D

Ya I heard about the patch testing they do. I know it may break out a bit but Im worried more about severe rashes or infections. I was wondering if they made nickel free needles. I imagine they do...

Ha, I have eczema and got one without thinking. I also have retardedly dark skin. Aside from the two made by an amateur for free, they still came out well. I just wish the hair growing cells really did die after a tattoo, shaving is fun and all, but do I have to do it EVERY time I feel like showing these things off?

Hella, me and my sis have the same issues with metal and we both have a tat and have had no problems relating to that. Mine is just below my shoulder and I have never had a problem despite my sensitive skin but yeah if you are really concerned ask a doctor or even the person you intend to get the tat from. They know a lot about that stuff obviously. Post pics if you get one :p

I never heard of metal in tat ink. Maybe trace amounts but I dont think any of it is harmful. Lol at the Naruto tat. :rofl
I think you should use some of those water-tattoos. You know, the ones where you put on your arm and wet :nuts . I love you Pinoy xD Go see a doctor, I don't want anything happening to you :[

Interesting thread. I think I want a tattoo of some pumpkins on both my biceps.
Btw are tattoos a bad idea? Some people get a tattoo and when they grow old and fat the skin sags and stretches with them. My small pumpkin might be humongous by the time I turn 50.

Just watched Miami Ink on cable tv. Some of the artwork is amazing, and they go away with some sort of bandage over their new tattoo.
Just wondering if there is any special care required for the newly-tattoo'd skin? To me, it seems like a shallow flesh wound (where someone falls down and scrapes their knee, sorta thing).
I know for sure that pierced ears don't need much care. Not sure about pierced tongues, noses or eyebrows though. Would appreciate someone informing me, for interests sake?

Yup you sure do need to look after it! I know they need to keep moisturised, and also the scabs shouldn't be picked at, because the design might get messed up. I just checked wikipedia (Oh how I love that site!) and most tattooists recommend leaving it bandaged for between 2 and 24 hours. Also keeping it dry, in case the water washes the ink out of the skin.
Even when the tattoo has healed people might need to get a touch up because the ink hasn't taken. After a while they 'bleed', the lines become blurrier and less defined. They may also fade if exposed to the sun too much.

Ahhhh. it sounds painful. >,< I'll stick to the boring all-beige leather i was born with then.
I saw a grown man whimpering during a Miami Ink episode's tattoo session this afternoon.... and a few girls just chatting along.
I guess its the position of the tattoo that determines if it hurts more or less, too? The guy was having some design done along his spine.

From what I've heard the feet are the most painful places to get tattooed, although I think the pain level depends on how much bone there is around the area, as opposed to fat- so your ankle would hurt more than your butt I guess. I've looked into it a lot because when I'm older I'm planning to get a tattoo, but not til I'm sure I could live with the design!
