Well. I never joined the Orihime FC before, maybe because I didn't feel as 'ZomG she's teh BEST character in Bleach' as many other people I know, but who cares. I want to join. She may not be my absolute favorite, and I may not like some of the aspects of her personality, but she's a good character. :yell Here's to hoping Kubo doesn't disappoint me!

I wonder why I only decided to join now... but eh. Maybe because of the 'She Is Jealous Of Nel' arguments, which I can't stand. Maybe because I finally see traces of the old Orihime in recent chapters. And, well. I realized there's so much more to Hime than the insecure, flailing girl many people see her as. She has faults, but so does everyone else, and it's unfair to judge her solely based on them. So... even if I initially thought I would hate her, the more I re-read Bleach, the more I liked her. It's easy for a character like Hime to stay a stereotype, but Kubo somehow made it out without making her just another giddy schoolgirl.

Overall, I consider Ori to be one of my favorite characters. I'm not at all happy with how she has been acting since Ulquiorra defeated Ichigo some dozen chapters back, but after thinking about it, I shouldn't place my judgment just yet. There is a long way in front of Orihime - and however long it takes, I think she's going to make it. ^__^

I, for example, don’t like that she’s so naïve sometimes. But Orihime is not a perfect character and we all know that.
But more she’s getting bullied, more I adore her. Don’t know why but I (nearly) always fall in love with support characters. Maybe it’s because they don’t get enough love.
And I hate this jealousy-of-Nell theory too. It’s just so wrong >.>

It does get tiring when people put all these unrealistic expectations of her. My biggest peeve is how she's considered selfish for not saying Chad or Rukia's name in a while, yet other characters forget it and they don't get called selfish. Does she have to think of them 24/7?

And you can tell people were jumping with glee with the idea that Nel is now Orihime's competition! Why are people obsessed with the idea that she's jealous anyway? Does that make her a bad person in their eyes even more and therefore she'll appear unworthy in the eyes of her friends in the manga? People also believe that her feeling jealous means she's going to go to the dark side. It's an interesting concept and I said, heck bring it on, it would be cool if she has a hollow side. Makes me wonder though if she finally kicks ass thanks to the hollow inside will that make people like her more. But isn't that also a crutch, she became a kickass fighter not because of resolve but because of jealousy? Seems some people want to see her fail especially in the eyes of her friends.

Finally, it's the intense hate I see that boggles the mind. Why expend so much negative energy hating a character, any character. There's more to this life than telling people online you hate a fictional character.

About her not mentioning Chad and Rukia - I for one think it's a bit OOC of Orihime. The way I perceive her, she would've been worried sick, but the plot requires she takes the role of the observer instead. I know I wailed a bit about that initially ("Why is Kubo doing this? Why aren't Orihime and Ichigo more worried about Rukia and Chad? GAH!") but I really don't think it can be taken as a fault to Orihime's character. Kubo decided that the plot can't have her worrying about anyone other than people on-scene - I decided to just go along with it. Though I'm a bit jaded that Rukia is bleeding to death somewhere and both her and Chad are up for the taking, but that's just me and my RWS, there.

That's cute, AnimeGirlPan~! And moonbeam, I don't think it's Orihime's video game, just Orihime's outfits in the official Bleach video game - I could be wrong though. ^__^

I have been extremely busy at work so I haven't had a chance to congratulate and thank FireCandy for taking over the FC. It's nice to be among fans who appreciate Orihime. I happen to like Orihime more in the HM arc than before. BA is my first participation in a general fan forum so I have to say, I didn't know people could have such strong dislike for characters. Of course, reading some of the negative comments perversely makes me like Orihime even more. Just my contrary and stubborn personality I guess.

Welcome, Sergelia! I think the reason KT doesn't reveal Orihime and Ichigo's thoughts about Rukia and Chad is because he wants us to focus on Ichigo's fights with Ulquiorra and Grimmow, and Nnoitra. The point of HM is so we can learn more about the arrancars before the Winter War, which might be the end of Bleach. To me the "saving the damsel in distress" plot in SS and HM are plot devices that allowed the reader to travel with Ichigo and his friends into an alternative world. Ichigo would have no reason to go to SS if Rukia had not been arrested and taken back to SS. Likewise, Ichigo would have no reason to go to HM if Orihime had not been kidnapped. Aside from the "damsel in distress" motif, I don't see too many similarities between SS and HM.

@FireCandy - IDK, I usually host everything on Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) (in a private album, so it's not search-friendly, yay) and it serves me well. I had the impression some of the graphics in the first post were on PB, too? Ahwell, I'd recommend opening a new, fancy account for the new and fancy FC, and simply moving all graphics there.

Or you could do what a friend of mine did and make yourself a password-locked FreeWebs (http://members.freewebs.com/share.jsp) site. That's like, the safest thing around, but it's really untidy, as the whole idea of FW was never to be a picture-hosting service, until recently. Or sumthn. :lmao

Anyway... I just noticed how immensely prettyful the graphics in the first post are. Once I'm out of my Renji phase I'll surely steal fetch a few fancy avatars. :love

Those are really nice pictures of Orihime. I agree, I didn't like her pink T-shirt when she went to rescue Ichigo with the group. I think she looked a lot better in her Shinigami outfit with her hair up.

Oh... Some pics from Devianart can't be sawed - if someone would post a link to that kind of fanart I would fave to make a print screen of it and then edit it in Paint. Since I'm in my last year in High School and I don't have too much free time I wanted you to do that xD

About Orihime fighting, I think tsubaki has to be revealed at the right time. We know the arrancar think Tsubaki was destroyed, so they think she is utterly defenseless. It's a perfect oppourtunity for a surprise attack, but the timing has to be perfect because once they know the gig is up and Orihime may get treated worse if she ever gets recaptured. I personally think Orihime has played it really smart by not fighting as of yet.

Great point Lady Scaper. It might be a while before Kubo decides to have Orihime use Tsubaki again. As for playing it smart, I agree. Nothing to be gained to have her Rikka destroyed if she strikes against Tesla or anyone now. She has to keep her Rikka in whole 'cause she needs it to heal everyone. The rescuers are all dropping like flies at this point.

Its probably better writing if Kubo waits to have Orihime use Tsubaki, but I almost don't care, I want to see her koten zanshun Tesla:lmao

I just really want to see what having conviction behind tsubaki can do (Yes she used him with conviction in 192, but I think that was a wrong type of conviction)

I agree.. I think right now all she needs is killing intent, (and the fact she lacked that is probably why Urahara didn't want her) ...but when she'll get it we'll probably see Tsubaki again!

I wonder how powerful her powers are though... her healing powers are incredible, but does it mean that the other facets of the Shunshun Rikka are just as powerful in their respective roles or that the healing part is the strongest?

This may be over thinking things but...

This reminds me of Urahars lesson to ichigo (during his fight with renji). He said that Ichigos sword had only fear. Fear to evade, protect and kill. I think all of these represent Orihimes powers also. Evade= her blocking shield Save= her healing shield kill= her cutting shield

She has the intent to save, and somewhat the intent to protect, but not the intent to kill, so thats why her healing powers are amazing, her blocking power is average, and her killing power is so low.
QFT! Orihime needs the intent to kill. She's like the main hero who still has yet to kill anyone of importance. Just don't ever see Orihime have that kind of intent though. We know it's coming though because that is what Tsubaki said she needed. Kubo's not going to let something like that hang. Just don't know when that will be. I don't think the timing is right now though. If she strikes against Tesla, he's going to strike back and damage her Rikka. She needs her Rikka to heal her friends. Better to play it safe at the moment.

I'd have to say that my favorite Orihime moment is when she does that imitation of Ichigo. Priceless. There are tons of other great moments, but that's it if I have to pick one. Runner-up is when she tells Grimm that she won't heal Ichigo is he's just going to hurt him again. That takes guts. It's sad that it those kind of moments get glossed over.

I know it's not much but as I said before I don't have as much time as I did before. I've got so many extra lessons that I can't even count them and I'm doing my driving license.

I actually like Orihime now more than I did in the earlier arcs. She was certainly cute and funny before but now she is more interesting because of her insecurities and her strength. I think she is brave to accept her kidnapping, to come to HM to save her friends, and be a prisoner in a place that is completely disconnected from the real world.

We were silently agreeing. The comment about it resembling FFVII Aerith's death scene came to mind every time. Hougyoku=Holy Materia, Orihime=pretty girl sinking in a clear lake. But Orihime inside the hougyoku makes the most sense in terms of symbology.

I think she gets judged against Rukia way too much. Orihime is a 16 year old high school girl. She's not going to react to things in the same way a shinigami, a person who has been trained and experienced in battle, would. I guess that's too much to ask from people who write reasons the those.

If you're going to call a character a brat, it should be Ichigo.

Exactly i do like orihime and rukia - and i love their freindship and to people who question their freindship i would just show them chapter ch 269- rukia thinking about hime before she passed out wanting to go save her and as you said understanding her situaition and ch 270- inoue feeling torn apart when she saw rukia in that state despretly trying to get to her and save her- it's a very strong freindship

I mean the whole outfit stealing was a brilliant idea and she totally executed it!! Also without the sheild Uryuu, Maki maki and Her would just be bits of organic matter after being blown up. Also her sweetness and usefulness is what kept her alive with 11th company (also I think Yachiru sort of likes her). Usually, in most entertainment I have seen where a girl is witnessing a fight between 2 guys, the girl who screams the main character's name, standing there helplessly is always considered the weak one who is not worth all the attention that she is being afforded. I mean other women seeing 2 guys fight try and think of some way to help. I don't think Orihime is a weak character who does not deserve any attention. Orihime is the smart girl and even though she is held by Tesla and Noi would try and think of something to help. (3rd in her class for exams she's smart!!) I mean in most other dangerous situations she has done that. Even early on when she first sees her brother as a hollow and doesn't know it's him, the first thing she does when she sees Tatsuki unsconcious is fight the giant monster. When Maki -Maki took her away she tried to fight him!! She said no to GJ and slapped Ulqui (which I know I would never ever be able to do!). That bold type of bravery is what I like about Orihime and I don't like that Kubo is hardly giving her lines during all this fighting. As if he is trying to say she is stunned and can't think. Knowing her character we totally know she can think, which is why all the Kurosaki-Kunning is not appreciated. I mean saying his name over again isn't going to help Ichigo at all. Kubo didn't even have her say look left or something to dodge a hit. The Orihime I am familiar with would try and help someway.

People wants Orihime to be super women for all the wrong reasons. It pisses me off. EX: People wanted Orihime to run off to find Rukia and Chad a few months ago? Why? They wanted her away from Ichigo, duh. When she didn't, they bashed her for being a useless and weak character.

Yeah, Orihime looks down at herself, but who doesn't? No one is prefect. Everyone has flaws. Orihime claimed that she was useless in the SS arc. I only said she was helpless because of the two times where she couldn't fight with Ishida. Ishida had to protect her... and she noticed that.

Orihime 'is' stunned. She's human. She's not suppose to be ..perfect ... ALL THE TIME. Thats why I like Orihime. Orihime is an amazing character with FLAWS. Orihime will kick ass when her times comes.

Rukia watched RENJI and ICHIGO getting their ass kicked by Aizen when protecting her. What did Rukia did? Nothing. Did people bashed her for that? No. =/ So.. why is Orihime different. Oh wait, she loves Ichigo. Bad Orihime.

The thing is, most .... people, are bashing Orihime because her love for Ichigo. I'm not saying that you're one of them... because I honestly haven't seen a post like that from you, but you can't say that it's not true. It is. That's where it all comes down too.

Another thing. I hate it when people say ' Orihime wants to get stronger for all the wrong reasons. ' Wanting to help someone who you care about is a perfect reason to get stronger. I don't know. I feel like I had to throw that in, also.

And then after all that which I could stomach, she gets the fingers by Noi noi which implies all sorts of nasty things, whih after everything else has happened to her character it's almost going too far. Implied sexual abuse after all this? I really want to see Noi noi die because I am afraid of what he will try to do her if he ever ends up alone with her. Although no chracter deserves to be threatened with rape I mean at least it appears that the other female characters would fight back. With the way Orihime is being depicted now she seems so helpless and almost broken. I don't want to see a broken Orihime. :( (especially around Noi noi, that is exactly what he wants!!)

@hime--chan -I think you're putting too much ichihime into it. I hate how Inoue was acting in latest chapter. But I sill love her. I’m proud to say that. Why? Well, when you’re in true love with someone you stay with that person even when he/she doesn’t clear after him/herself. You see all the negative things in that person but you don’t leave anyway. That’s a mature kind of love in my opinion (I’m not saying about a situation when you’re staying with alcoholic – lol). I don’t like that Inoue is helpless and doesn’t believe in herself. But I like her because she’s hyper active, cares for the others and has that weird taste. And I know she’s strong. I hope that after the whole thing wit Nnoi she will find her strength and won’t break down. I also know that woman after being molested by a man needs a lot of time to be a person that she was before. I really want to see how Kubo will write that. Oh, I know I did... but that's what's going on. No one [ certain people ] would have a problem if it was anyone else. No one would have a problem if it was Ishida there. No one would have a problem if Ulqu was there. It all comes down to Ichihime. I'm not even talking about the pairing. I'm only talking about Orihime's feeling. Those feelings are CANON [ which certain people hate ] and it's apart of the story, right now.

The ' We're only bashing Orihime because she's doing shit ' is just an excuse. Don't get me wrong. Some people who like Orihime are saying that and are feeling that way, but they don't fucking [ sorry ] bring it up every single post they make. The one's who DO bring it up every single post and every single week are just trying to piss people off and hate the fact that she's with Ichigo... while Rukia is DYING. They need to get over it.

Look at Sakura from Naruto. They bashed her when she for being useless. Now... when she's kicking ass, they still found other reasons to bash her. That's how it rolls.

Sorry Fire, for getting involved in this, but I kinda have to agree with hime--chan on this one. I've felt the same way too for a long time now. :/ Orihime gets the flack cuz she's with Ichigo right now and Rukia is dying somewhere far, far away. -_-;; Ppl want her to be ZOMG KICKASS!!!11 and then, when she actually does powerful things (like healing Lolly and Melony), it's all "ZOMG, she's too powerful, she needs to die!!!!111" I know not everyone is like that or said such things, (so I get annoyed with myself when I start stereotype people), but there IS majority of like-minded ppl who keep doing it every week, which doesn't help the imagery/stereotype at all, either.

As for Ichigo's name, I don't mind her calling it out constantly. She can't reasonably do much else, given the situations she's been put through the last 50 or so chapters, and I LIKE that KT keeps giving her panel time, even if it is just to say Ichigo's name. He's constantly been making her a focus, major or not, of most chapters she's been in lately, even if she hasn't been given more than a picture or two. As Orihime fans, shouldn't we be HAPPY that she's been made a focus? Is calling out the name of the man she loves really THAT damning? She wouldn't be able to do anything ANYWAY if she said/thought other things, so what does it really matter? It doesn't. It's just an excuse for people to justify their annoyance/hatred/whatever with her, or to find a reason to by annoyed with/hate/etc. her.

**sigh** Sorry, I felt like that needed to be said in here.

Anyway, now that I'm done being slightly upset, I'd like to get back to glorifying my favorite female character^_^

edit: If I've stated something unclearly (which is hightly probable) I wouldn't mind discussing any issue further through PMs, but I wont do it in here, because I am NOT going to contribute to any further discord in this FC. God knows almost every other thread started about Orihime turns into a bashing free-for-all, and it'd just be 100 times worse in here since we're all supposed to be Orihime fans.

I doubt this thread will turn into a Orihime bash for all. If everyone here.. LIKES Orihime, then it shouldn't. If it does. Then we suck as fans. We should understand how Orihime is feeling at this point, because if we're her fans, we should be ... paying attention to her character and understand where she's coming from. I understand. When Orihime is bashed for the stupidest reasons.. I pretend to put myself in Orihime's shoes. Sometimes I agree with Orihime [ In the recent chapters. When she wanted to prove herself to Urahara that she CAN fight. ]... sometimes I don't [ When she was afraid for Ichigo. I think she should of spoke up... long before hand and not let that fear take over her. ].

Being bashed for saying Ichigo's name? Give me a 'fucking' break. It's a lame reason to bash a character. It's just something for them to make fun of because their favorite character is dying somewhere. It makes them feel good in side at the end of the day. I can laugh at Rukia's status right now. I can go ' OMG, the stupid bitch is dying. I thought she's suppose to be a Goddess!!! LOLOL. YEAH RIGHT!! She's the Goddess of Dying---' but no, I don't. Why? Because it's a stupid reason. It's immarute No character is perfect. Maybe their ver of a character is perfect... but not KT's ver. :3

EtD. I think you should be outspoken in this club because it's the Orihime club. The only way for this club to become a bash-for-all if a Orihime-hater came in here and started to bitch how we're wrong and start neg repping us for speaking our minds.

I know I've been going on with Ichihime..but it's the main reason why Orihime is being bashed. I know there some people in this club that don't agree with Ichihime and prefer a different Orihime pairing as their OTP. I know they aren't the one who's bashing Orihime's character [ For what I've seen, they haven't ]. Orihime shouldn't be bashed because of who she's inlove with... but we can't stop it. People are going to be immature. However, the Orihime fans should be understanding how she's feeling.

The only thing we can do it support Orihime and laugh at the haters.

I have to admit, I'm pretty much anti-IchiHime, purely because I believe that Orihime can do better and her feelings for Ichigo are holding her back from being the best she can be for herself. That said, I can totally understand how she's feeling in the situation, Telsa has said that he knows exactly how her powers work and if she tries to use them then he'll destroy them. I think she's being smart in not risking the only weapon that Soul Society has that has the potential to destroy the hougyoku. I mean, honestly, if it came to a choice between saving the world or saving Ichigo, which would you choose? I don't know, maybe I'm just giving her motives that she doesn't actually have.

Is anyone else really really hoping that Nnoitra loses a finger? I mean if it was me and some creepy Espada guy stuck a finger in my mouth I'd be biting it off. Hime's much nicer than me though!

Ohh I don't read the manga thread so I don't know bout the haters. I just feel terribly bad for the poor girl. Noi just needs to die. I don't care who does it. I was wishing it would be Ulq, but right now it looks like Ken-chan to me. I wonder what Ken-chan will say when he sees Hime. He seemed to get along well with her in soul society. I hope he whoops Noi's ass that perv. I thought she looked beautifulin this chapter. Especially the panel of her crying after Ichigo had his arm broken.

By the way Fire, I love the first page!

It seems that Orihime fans are going to have to act in Tatsuki's place for this arc and defend her from the criticism she definitely can't deal with right now.
I feel so sad about what is happening. I haven't read many shounen manga but I'm sure that the magnitude of Orihime's suffering is kinda unparalleled.

Firecandy; I agree that if Nnoitra-guy is implying the dark deed against her *terrified for her* it can't be that KT is doing this out of boredom or ignorance of what this could mean form a woman's perspective, but maybe he realizes the significantly sensitive nature of this and that this is gonna be THE turning point *ppl have said this already* pushing a girl like Orihime over the edge in such a way is gonna move the story forward in a mega-force kinda way. It will develop her already quite complex character and I think will make her prove her worth some way or another.

She is an amazingly strong character. The fact she's going through so much crap now, is gonna make it so that when she pulls through, it'll be like a huge weight has been lifted *power-upness*! :D don't fret! our Hime-chan will be okay *smile and hugs*

I think somewhere along the line I might have thought the same thing, but didn't really think about it til you mentioned it! there are actually a lot of relationship similarities between "kyo, tohru, yuki" and "Ichigo, orihime, Ishida" ...'wah, how peculiar.' ^_^U

(sorry friends, but i'm not sure if i made good sense of things. I kinda left out the flaming that appears to be going on about comparing rukia's and Orihime's situations cause i really think that sort of thing just burns everybody and is a major fire hazard ¬_¬U i.e. a bigger fire is going to arise...) Well, when I get upset and outspoken, I have a tendency to get rather mean...>.> It's not always for fair reasons, either, so I try to just avoid conflict.

But there is one more thing I want to rant about, something Hiraeth kind of touched on.

(It's kinda long, so I put it under spoiler tags.)

It's this whole bullshit (yes, I feel the swear word qualifies in this situation) notion that Orihime's love (or ever worse "obsession" :rolleyes:) for Ichigo drags her down. One...it's NOT an obsession. If her love = obsessed then I guess everyone in the world who's devoted to the man/woman they love is also obsessed. -_-;; Two...her LOVE isn't the thing dragging her down. It's her own insecurities and lack of self confidence and worth. Her love and her lack of self confidence are two separate entities all together; they shouldn't even be put in the same equation.

Her insecurities aren't something new that miraculously popped it, but it has been given more light (like Rukia's guilty feelings over Kaien's death was given more light a little bit at a time). We first see that Orihime thinks down on herself when Ishida rescues her in SS. WHY people go on and on about Orihime's love for Ichigo dragging her down is beyond me. We already KNEW that she didn't have much self confidence in SS. Top that off with 2 failed times she helps her friends, one of those times was her helping Ichigo. Gee, people say that she gets all clammed up in front of Ichigo, yet we have a good example of when she tried to help him and failed...which didn't help her self confidence. The fact that it dragged down her image of herself had NOTHING to do with her love; it had everything to do with that she couldn't fight and protect another person.

That scene shows that she CAN fight for his sake, but she's not powerful enough to help him. She went to SS with Rukia to help train and become stronger, but honestly, the two girls trained for a MONTH and even Shūhei commented that they looked like they were having fun (which implies that the girl's training wasn't as serious as it could be...that's okay because the two girls are good friends, so it's not an unusual thing^^). And people expect her to be Captain level? Wtf? Chad's had a lot more experience fighting, and he's not captain level yet!

So when exactly is her love for Ichigo supposed to drag her down? In SS she was never with him. The only times they interacted was after the Ichi vs Bya fight, in which she tells Ichigo how worried she'd been and she heals him. During the fight, she had courageously opted to stand by and watch it, even though all the other MEN in the group wanted to leave.

Was it supposed to in the Grimm vs Ichigo fight? I remember people complaining that she was doing nothing but being a useless cheerleader on the side. It was Ichigo's unresolved fight. HIS fight. NOT Orihime's. Anyone else would have stayed on the sidelines too, because that's why you do when it somebody else's fight! Not only that, but Grimmjow's the 6th Espada. Ichigo, the main hero of the story, had difficulty defeating him. So what if she called out his name a lot during it and Ichigo made sure to protect her? That doesn't mean that she's regressed as a character. She just can't do anything...and any other character in the same position wouldn't have been able to help at all. In my opinion, most likely had it been any other character, we wouldn't have seen their thoughts at all, and they wouldn't have been made an object of focus during the fight probably, either. Yet KT made sure Orihime was a focus. I'm still not seeing where her love for him drags her down. The entire time Ichigo and Orihime have been together, she hasn't had a moment's break from watching a dear friend, that she just happens to have normal, human feelings for, get the living snot beat out of him. Top that off with the fact that she's not exactly a fighter or particularly powerful defense wise (well, we don't know yet since she hasn't used Tsubaki, but I don't think SHE feels she's powerful).

Gah, I could go on and on, but I think I've gotten my point across. I hope.

But yeah, I get really upset when people say that Orihime's love drags her down, because it really doesn't. That false notion deserves to be burned, and I wonder at how many people cling to it.
