Square's big budget fan service film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, is heading to Blu-ray and it's going to provide much more than an HD transfer. A new trailer showcased at TGS shows a few new scenes that expand upon the film's storyline. One scene took place in the alleys of Midgar as children afflicted with Geostigma appear to be melting goo. Another sequence shows Sephiroth stabbing Cloud through the chest, skewering him and swinging him like a piece of dead meat. Not only will the updated Blu-ray disc feature new scenes, but new special features that were cut from the original DVD will find their way into the collection, thanks to the spacious capacity of the HD movie format.

But that's not what has us most excited. The fight scenes from the film have been completely re-rendered with a feature we've long waited for: dirt. The always-fashionable Cloud and company will have perfect clothes no more! They'll have to invest in even stronger hair gel to survive the battles that they face. The press release explains it best: "Clothing that gradually dirties through intense combat, faces that darken with soot from explosions, and motorbikes pockmarked with gunshots - the Complete edition brings a grittier, dirtier look to the film's nonstop action."

The now-Incomplete edition will now be too clean for the Square Enix hardcore. The added sheen of the HD transfer will only accentuate the dirty details that Square has deemed necessary to include in this re-release. Of course, we can't wait for the next 2160p "Really Complete Edition" which will add even more wrinkles to the character's clothes and subtle acne on their backs.

Gah whats the point most of us have it on DVD or those little PSP discs so the point at the moment is very little.

Very true loz, that's the point of all the extra secnes and crap, to give you a reason to actually by it. LOL. Like most people actually have something that can play blu-rays at this point. >.>

The quote started to sound a little sarcastic near the end.... I think I like the pic more then then the whole read. XD

LMAO do I sense a marketing push for people to buy PS3? :p

Well, I guess I'll have to learn to live with my unbelievably clean heroes and heroines, and the 5 minutes of scenes I'll never see. Le sigh. :D

There was an actual story in advent children?

*rofls at the thought of them trying to expand this elusive "story" with a couple extra scenes*

babbo fails to see how this would drive up Ps3 sales though...most square fanboys already got their grubby hands on one or they're still whining to their parents for one >.>

Wow, awesome! Thanks for the info, Byakuya! This will make me invest in Blu-Ray just to watch that. It's hysterical, I've never played any of the FF games, but saw AC on DVD and loved it!

Well I think FFAC: Complete will sell rather well, the Blu-Ray version of the movie 300 sold like 100,000 copies in its first week?

Cool Nocturne, my friends loved it as well without having played any of the games. ^^

The 300 has a cult following that spans well beyond the borders of square fan-boyism though, not to mention the publicity that a world wide Theater release provides.

Babbo just doesn't see AC doing nearly as well as that <.<

Well that is true, but FFAC sold a good couple of millions on DVD, and the ones who purchased it were of course (mostly) gamers.

And a lot of them probably have or will get a PS3 in the future, a console which has a blu-ray player built in.

So yeah.. Meh I dunno, maybe I'm just grasping for straws. XD
