In the movie, Memories of Nobody, its stated that souls lose their memories once a Shinigami performs a Soul Burial on them and go to Soul Society, right?

Is this canon, or an idea created by the anime team?

Sounds plausible, but there's that kid that Sado made friends with. He remembered Sado even after he went to Soul Society.

It would explain, however, how the Shinigami dont know crap about the real world.

completely made up by the movie team.

The only feasable reason to say that shinigami rarely remember is that most shinigami are young when they enter soul society, too young to remember things for very long.

Yeah it was totally made up. Most shinigami were born in the Sereitei, that's why they know crap about the real world. And then, amongst those who died in the real world, there are a lot who died while still very young.

Okay, so since it's already answered....I'd like to ask a related question. Did KT seriously allow such a huge inconsistency? I mean...he doesn't work independently of the anime studio, does he?

a simple answer would be to look at the Parakeet Boy that Chad knew.

Soul Burial =/= Lost Memories

and xeno, he probably didnt work on the movie a lot is my guess?

aznxenocide- I assume Kubo works with the anime/movie team to some degree, and would prevent them from making any major plot holes or anything.

My guess is that he just doesn't care about something like souls and memories or that the anime team didn't feel like listening:D:cool:

Pretty sure he is independent from the anime. At the most, he is possibly consulted, or asked to add info or something. This is done because the anime is following the manga, somewhat, so having some input would be benefiting. It could easily be like the FMA anime and completely different, but it's not for many reasons obviously. So yea, they could pretty much do whatever they want with the anime or movies especially.

The way I see it, Kubo's influence on the anime is comparable to JKRowling's influence on the minute.

They're consulted enough so that there aren't huge inconsistencies in the overall plot and so that things aren't screwed up for the main story in this case the manga.

We do know he does the character designs for every new character movie or anime. He drew Senna and her crew for the movie and Kariya and the Bounto for the filler.

Yeah but I think that's pretty much it; all in all, a mangaka doesn't have so much time, especially since writing for weekly SJ takes a lot of time. Working with the anime team would be just too much; it's already rare that a mangaka draws the design of the fillers characters, I don't think he has a say in the plot (especially not in the movies).
