Let's talk about Rock Musical Bleach

I know I'm not the only one who's crazy about a bunch of pretty Japanese boys and girls dancing and singing in glittery shihakushou, so here's a thread for us fans of Rock Musical Bleach (a.k.a. Bleach Musical or Bleach myu or Burimyu) to chat about it :p

For those of you who don't know about Burimyu, or have only seen it in short youtube videos, I'm sure the idea of dancing and singing shinigami sounds ridiculous. In fact, I thought it was ridiculous. I downloaded the first musical just to get a good laugh, which I got (especially when Byakuya's the one dancing).

But as time goes by, I get to appreciate other aspects of the production. The makeup/wardrobe department improves with every myu: Rukia's wig gets more similar to manga, Renji gets a cool bankai gear and they managed to make a good Kenpachi. The stage is awesome: we have moving platforms, strategically placed doors and well-timed light shows. Some of the actors deliver good acting that makes you laugh at the funny scenes and tug your heartstrings at the sad scenes. Some of them also have impressive singing. Rukia's beautiful singing was a saving grace for the first myu that got me to actually respect the seemingly-cracky show. Even the ones who aren't as good at the beginning (I'm looking at you, Tacchan and Osamu-chan) improves and seeing the improvement from myu to myu is an enjoyment of its own.

On top of that we have the backstage scenes with so much crack. We get to see the shy Hinamori who always hides from the camera, the loud Rukia with her contagious laugh, the soft-spoken Zaraki and cheerful Byakuya. They all put their efforts into their roles, and we can see it from the way they look when they practice. We also get to see the trick to make Ichigo change his school uniform to shinigami robe in a few seconds on stage. If you've been backstage to a performance before, you'll probably like it.

And of course, there are pretty boys and pretty girls. ;)

Rock Musical Bleach
The first show, it covers the beginning of the story up to the Ichigo-Renji fight.
Rock Musical Bleach: Saien
Saien means Winter. This is a reprise of the first musical with additions of new songs and new cast (Kira Izuru).
Rock Musical Bleach: The Dark of the Bleeding Moon
Continuation of the story up to Ichigo showing up at Soukyoku. New characters added are Zaraki, Ikkaku, Yoruichi, Hanatarou and Rangiku.
Bleach The Live: Bankai Show Code 001
Unlike the previous myus, the Live is more a concert than theatre. It showcases the most popular songs from the three previous myus as well as preview of the next musical. Hisagi is introduced here.
Rock Musical Bleach: No Clouds in the Blue Heavens
The last instalment of the myu (or so they said at that time, before DX was announced), this one covers the story up to the end of SS arc. There are no plans on doing the Hueco Mundo arc. Yet. New characters here are Tousen, Unohana and Soifong.
Rock Musical Bleach DX
In this period, two musicals are showcased simultaneously, consisting of:
a) Bleach The All
A compacted version of all the previous musicals, from Saien to NCitBH. All cast reprise their roles for this show, except for the Karakura kids (other than Ichigo of course) and Urahara.
b) Bleach The Live: Bankai Show Code 002
Another live like Code 001. In this version, Rukia is finally included in the Mou Hitotsu no Chijou song.

Ah, yes, Ishida. *sigh* Maybe they thought arrows are too difficult to do on stage? Though with the special effects they have the budget for now, compared to the first show, I'm sure they can find a way.

Yeah, I think so. The effects would be too hard, especially when fighting Mayuri. And especially Mayuri's bankai.

Ah! I haven't seen the bankai show yet, but I must if they're on key. I remember one part of the Dark of the Bleeding Moon where Matsumoto and Gin sing. They were pretty on-key there too.

If you like Bengara Koushi (the GinRanHitsuHina song), you HAVE to watch Bankai Show. Rangiku's actor is pregnant so she couldn't participate, which results in the song being sung by... well, I won't spoil it. ;)

I haven't watched all of it before but I've skimmed through it. It is pretty cool, although I'm really really not a musical person. Its well done though, awesome costumes and really good actors and all. :p

Ive seen one of them...I think it was Saien. It ended with Byakuya's bankai raining down on all the characters. Kenpachi, Hisagi and Tousen wernt in it and it goes beyond the Renji fight so I have to assume its Saien.

Yes yes Backstage videos rock. I so enjoy them very much. Even if they dont have subs sometimes, its still funny to watch. I feel like i understand them.

As for the musical, i thought a lot about watching it at first. But as soon as i started i couldnt stop. I mean i even looked up the osts and everything. The musical is really enjoyable.

But theres a tiny fact that disturbs me. Not putting a lot of the important characters is really wrong. I mean come on, they didnt put Uryu cause they didnt know how to make his arrow's light thing. Also the fact that Orihime and Chad disappeared after first musical was completely wrong. -sigh- So many deceptions we have to live with. But oh well, I still liked the musical a lot. Even with all those things ^_^

I've watched all now and i think The Dark of the Bleeding Moon was the best.
2nd place is tied between Saien and No Clouds in the Blue Heavens.

Saien Pro:
- Yoshii Rei as Inoue
- The Top Version of Hallelujah Sayonara
- Overall better story

Saien Con:

- only a few chars



NCitBH Pro:

- Some really good songs
- Good conclusion of the story
- They improved Byakuya's look

NCitBH Con:

- Soi Fon and Tousen weren't as good as the other cast.
- Some boring songs
- Tatsuya (Ichigo) was bad this time. He had his golden time in Saien and DotBM, but wasn't even nearly as good in Bankai Show and NCitBH. He tried so much to sing more emotional but that's not his strength.

Bankai Show is always a nice alternative and the Classic Bleach has no reason to watch it if you have Saien. The only positive aspect is the better version of Kawaranai Kimochi at the end.

Oh oh and I just adore Nagayan. He does Hitsugaya so awesome and he IS awesome. Nagayan is about 27-28 years old and he doesnt even look it. His appearance is that of an 18-19 year old. x3 Sorry i let the fangasm get to me but, but I couldnt control it. xD

So yes DotBM is the best of the musicals even though its shroter than Saien. At that point me like saien better. Being longer means more songs to love and sing-a-long. xD Mezzah love singing the Rock musical songs at the top of my lungs. I fya ever run into my sister, ask her and she'll tell you just how crazy I am about the musical. I sing the songs so much my sisters get tired and start screaming at me to shut me up. I mean one of them even kicks me out of her room xD. Of course that doesnt stop me. It only makes me sing even louder. xP

ahh I love the Bleach Musicals! I uploaded them all to youtube (Andromeda881 if anyone wanted to see them) and I think they're so much fun! I absolutely adore Eiki Kitamura as Kira...I dont even like Kira all that much but Eiki made me change my mind XD

I agree, DotBM is the best one, I liked the others but that one just stands out in my mind. I love Bengara Koushi and I really like the song Rukia sang about Kaien. Miki has improved so much, especially her high notes when you compare them in NCitBH to the first one.

I love Tuti too, he is such a big dork in the NCitBH backstage, chasing Hinamori down the hall "Hinamori chaaaaaan~" hehe I love him for it!

Guess it's quite unanimous that DotBM's considered the best, isn't it? It's my favourite too. The cast addition are at its best (except for Hanatarou, IMO, but he's still better than some) and the songs are catchy. My second place is Bankai Show because it's funny, and I think Tatsuya's singing is best there. I prefer Bankai's The Other Side of a Limit than NCitBH's, even though not perfect but I like the kinda tired voice of his', sounds cute. It also has my favourite harmonisation moment, Kengo and Nagayan's "Kooraseta namida wo..."

I made this file by joining the NCitBH version until Unohana and DoBM version from Hanatarou. That way the division lineup's work out, too! This is my first time editing audio file, sorry if it's kind of rough ^^;

And while mixing this, I played around with the bitrate of the files (to amuse myself with the "chipmunk effect" because I'm a third grader inside) and found something rather amusing. The file is originally at 44.1 kHz, but when played at a slightly faster rate of 48 kHz, the Gin & Kira portion sounds as if it's sung by... Nagayan & Harumi-san. O_o; Well, if you squint. Or whatever the auditory equivalent is. Here it is:

My fav order of Mou Hitotsu no Chijou is:

1. DotBm: Has everything Saien has , and has nice additions (+Rangiku+)
2. Saien: Best Performance on the stage imo, but I miss Rangiku's and 11th Squad's part.
3. NCitBH: Only reason to listen to this is Hisagi's Part. Else nothing spectacular
4. Bankai Show: Has nothing what other musicals don't have.


But my all time favourite Songs are "kawaranai Kimochi" and the Rukia song with the 3 other guys at the end of NCitBH.

You're welcome Gin-san. I don't know which one I like more, DoBM or Saien. Saien is the original so it flows best, but DoBM has Zaraki, Ikkaku and Rangiku. I like the early part (up to Kira) in Bankai the best, but it has no Zaraki. And Hisagi's part is really nice. I don't know if it's because of Naoya or the composer, but his part sounds sexy.

I have a few songs from NCitBH subbed (Hitori Ja Nai, Hitori Ja Nai Reprise) on my youtube account. They're short, but it's a start! And as soon as I find time I'm going to sub Byakuya's solo (I forget what it's called) and the one that Rukia sings with Renji, Byakuya, and Ichigo ^^ I haven't seen any translations from those 2 songs that you are looking for, but hopefully someone will translate them!

I watched the Saien and I loved it! I have to agree that Tacchan gets better here; he is now able to project himself and his singing made a notable improvement. Wonderful, wonderful.
The Live Bankai concert was funny as well. I recommended it to ALL of my friends who are Bleach fans.:)

Miki's height is 1.56 cm
Miki's weight is 38 kg
Rukia's height is 1.44 cm
Rukia's weight is 33 kg.

And with those features you would not believe both of them are old!! Rukia's like 150 years old and Miki is 27.

And Rukia's birthday is January 14th, Miki's April 15th ..even their dates are similar xD

Wow, they were all live? Araaaaa~ I applaud their talent. They could sing using another's voice and dance while they sing... without huffing between words. My uncle said it was dubbed because it was "impossible for them not to huff as they moved" but I was still hell-bent on insisting that IT'S NOT DUBBED, OKAY!! They're not singing in lip sync!!!!

I'm wondering what 'The All' will be about - Arrancar arc plz? Anyway, my favorite song was "Mou Hitotsu no Chijou" (the Dark of the Bleeding Moon version). I liked "Tsuki yo, Oshiete Kure" as well. And every last version of "Bengara Koushi".
My favourite bit is in the backstage for the Bankai Show - poor little Kouhei (that's Hanatarou) was sobbing onstage and the crowd was all 'Kawaii!~' and Takashi (Ichigo), Nagayan (Hitsugaya) and Shuuji/Osamu-chan (Byakuya) were all trying to comfort him. ^^

Saien + DotBM + NCitBH

My guess is they'll only show the acting without the songs (which will be shown in Bankai 2)

Maybe 1 Opening and Ending Dance. But I can't imagine that they could fit the whole story in 2-3 hours elseway.

- Tacchan writes about the things he ate.

On 15/3 a meeting will be conducted to introduce the casts and now, they are in the midst of practising the songs. All casts are in high spirits to sing after almost a year since the last musical. Even though the temperature is still cold, the casts are giving their best and looking forward this coming Spring in Shinjuku Koma.

Then again, this time ROCK MUSICAL BLEACH will have 2 performance! By means, this musical has 2 parts where the casts need to memorize their roles twice more...Though the schedule is quite hard, they have a month of practising until the actual performance and the rest of us from the BLEACH company will work hard together. Please keep on supporting us!

Today's pics are song practice session of few days ago (individual lesson). By looking at the music sheets formally, BLEACH casts are having many difficulties *sweat drops* but as expected, everyone was handling it easily and sang effortlessly!!

Bleach: The All (or DX as it's called to apparently o_O) is just like... a mix of all the previous musicals into one. (ie - the entire first part of Bleach) and The Bankai Show is more of just like... a fun show, no real storyline where the actors just sing songs and do little skits.

I'd love one about an arrancar, it'd be funny but I think this is their last musical...

I haven't seen all of the Bleach musicals yet, but I like what I've seen. I actually downloaded some of the songs, they are on my iPod XD I think my favorite has to be Shinjitsu no Yukue in the Bankai Show, when Hitsugaya kept interrupting Ichimaru. I laughed so hard when I watched that.

I have no idea what a "holiday lover" shot's supposed to be. @_@ If you buy all photosets for 5400 yen you will get a poster. Or two? There are two posters, each with different set of characters. I love Bleach Saien! So cool i first i thought that "what the heck?!" and i didn't like it. But then, it's soooooo funny! (i still need 2 watch d others thought,hehe) ......and the songs are great! I really liked the song - "Death boogie" , "Song For You" , "Bleach" , and other songs that they sang ( i dunno d titles, hehe:p) I think all of them fit for their roles. I think Miki Sato's role as Rukia is perfect, her voice is perfect and she looks like rukia. But mostly i like nagayan! (hehe!:D he looks cute and his role as hitsugaya is perfect for him!) and i also think that tacchan and miki sato is a perfect team! that's all! :) (this is too long sorry!):):lmao (oh, and does anbody know where i can download d songs?:))

Ahaha the wig certainly helps. But Fukuyama Jun (Yumichika's seiyuu) once appeared in Soul Sonic with a long wavy hair and I thought he looks like the character. I love comparing facial structures to the characters.

For example, I love Miki as Rukia, she looks a lot like her, but her jawline isn't as soft as it should be.

Attention to eye colour is always nice for cosplay, but for myu I think it's too hard to see on stage or on the DVD, so it's not worth the effort... plus they have to jump and run around so maybe they're afraid if the contacts drop?

Kumiko Aso has the soft jawline that I think is good for Nel. How tall is she? If she's taller than Tatsuya it'll be awesome.

Speaking of tall, I'm a bit disappointed that Hitsugaya is not shorter than Matsumoto but it's not really a big deal.

Rei's lack of assets was also criticised, wasn't it? So they stuffed it in Saien with that backstage video saying about "power up". :S That's the risk of having the manga focus on the women's boobs, though. It's probably a bit like having Ichigo with blonde hair. Still, Harumi-san, of all people, got criticised for that is shocking.

Satou Miki and her great voice were what saved the first Burimyu for me. If she wasn't in the cast I probably wouldn't be much of a Burimyu fangirl. Never would've thought of a more perfect Rukia.

Who in the cast do you think most resemble their characters?

Other than Miki-san, I think Eiki-san's face/voice is perfect for Kira. Kasahara Hiroko as Unohana also.
