I liked Excel Saga but then my flatmates all hated it with a passion. Guess if you like random nonsense plotlines you'll enjoy it.

Worst anime for me was Tengo Tenge, the plot wasn't really threaded together and what was with the long-a$$ flashback. Also I didn't like the anime of Trinity Blood, there were too many characters suddenly introduced and it didn't really end anywhere.

I like random moments if the anime is suppose to be like that but when it's obvious they're trying to tell a story but failing miserably then they should just stop. Or at least wait till the manga is finished before they make a series.

I have not watched one of my freinds had that on her myspace home page and she used to well put that on bulletins . When I read the synopsis I could undertsand the horror that was anime >_<

Gunslinger Girl was absolutely horrible. It was just horribly boring and lifeless. Plot revolves around young girls with drugged up bodies working as assassins for the Italian government. Young girls as in 5-14 years old. It was just wrong and horrible in every way.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien - Hated Bakayuki, he had no spine. Mitsuki was no better than him actually. Too much contrived angst and too soapish.

Gundam Seed Destiny - Worst series that ruined my favorite characters. Cheap plot. Ridiculous ending. Unlikable supposed main lead. Too much fanservice. Athrun sucks.

Ayashi No Ceres - Too much angst. Disconnected story. Boring leading male character. Whiney female lead character. Too many people die T_T. Poor Yuuhi, he was awesome.

Probably more but can't think of any atm.

GS and its sequel is indeed overrated IMO . I found the 80s Gundam far more superior than this one . The hype is mainly due to dub airing GS is the most watched GD Franchise all over the world

I dont' really have any hate for any anime... but I found Melancholy Of Suzumiya Haruhi was incredibly overrated O_O

Iunno... many many many people (many being people i'm friends with xD) just loving and raving about it. So one day i decide to watch and I was just.."blah" .. the plot was a uninteresting to me, the characters were mostly boring and I found Haruhi annoying =O

I've been told than after the first 10 episodes or so it gets really good but i never managed to get past the 5th one!! ...oh well too bad i guess?

In the beginning, it didn't sound too bad but it seems like as the story progressed they just improvised and plugged some weird stuff O_O

like the random Rey=Klueze thingy... Rey is until episode 48 an useless, secondary character.. we learn in ep49 that he's evil and we learn that in ep50 he's even more screwed up (being a clone O_o) >_> then he dies...(ugh!)

or like when they suddently make the protagonist (shinn) retarded and make Kira the main character again somehow O_O

and yes, Athrun sucks! A little more and they were writing "LOSER" on his forehead. :eek:

I don't really like Gundam seed that much either its probabily because i am more a full metal panic fan and Gunam seems somewhat more ponsy and crap than that.

Devil May Cry the hype and the franchise didn’t help the anime either. If it was not devil may cry I would have been singing a different song. But its Devil May Cry , mediocre at its best . I hope it turns out to be Bad Starts Good Ending type Animes

I am delighted to find someone who agrees on Bastard. Bastard is overrated and over hyped . I don’t call anime garbage but this is garbage. Its too clichÃ© to the point of laughter . Shonen use the time-tested formula but here that formula is overused. I don’t know who the target audience was being 18 last year I couldn’t bring myself to watch it.

The only silver lining was a sword which too had a Nue much like materialized Zabimaru

Anything by Clamp (with maybe the exception of CLOVER) or Yuu Watase, their original mangas or the animes based on them. Clamp b/c they always have over-dramatic/angsty scenes and pointless plots that just seems to be their so they can show off their gorgeous art; Yuu Watase b/c her stories embodies everything that gives shojo manga a bad name.Gunslinger Girl was absolutely horrible. I wasn't a fan of Saiyuki Reload Gunlock. I really like Saiyuki but the animation, fillers and voice acting (both the dub and original) were sub-par.

Not necessarily the worst anime I've ever watched but "Kimi ga no nozomu eien" annoyed the hell out of me."Rocks fell, everyone died" Would have been the perfect ending for it in my eyes -______-

Anyways the worst anime I've ever watched is definitely Star Ocean EX. It was funny sometimes but the creators should seriously be ashamed for making something that bad.

The angel sanctuary Anime was very very bad. It's like they weren't even trying to make a coherent story. Plus the animation was odd. The manga is probably better though.

Sorcerer on the rocks ova. Picked it up by accident. Very strange. Very corny.

Naruto is probably the most disappointing series I've come across lately. The only part I really enjoyed was the chunnin exams. The characters are generally good and some of the backstories are nice but the story could have been SO much better. It doesn't even seem like Kishimoto is trying anymore in the Shippuden arc. It's irrevocably boring.

I liked the ending of SCryeEd but thats it.....And i agree that the FMA anime has absolutely NOTHING on the manga and is a disgrace to it........Same with the Trigun anime..The manga is one of the greatest i've ever read while the anime was mediocre :(

Shaman King- Wasn't Canon. Screwed up the storyline and the characters and ended with a totally impossible ending. WORST Anime I've watched. I LOVE the manga to death, but they screwed the Anime over.

Beyblade - I always wondered why they changed the way the bit beast manifested in every season >> Very annoying...

I watched 2 episodes of Shigurui earlier today. It was abysmal......it was about samurai in an old era, around 1629. Was just plain boring nothingess. It didn't really show you anything, it was super slow paced, like 2 minutes of more of 2 guys preparing to fight, just stuck in their stance with all this tense music in the background and in the end they don't show anything.

For some reason I watched IDOLM@STER, and actually made it to the halfway point, and then for some odd reason the storyline just threw in so much needless betrayal and last minute plot twists that I decided to just quit.
For absolute worst anime though, thats a tough one, since there really hasn't been much else that I've disliked, so I'll just say Cyborg 009. It was just too cheesy and weird for me, of course I was pretty young when I watched it too, so maybe I should rewatch it some time.

The anime I least enjoyed watching of my own free will is probably Soul Taker. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and he made it seem pretty interesting so I went out and bought the first DVD of it used. By the third episode, I fell asleep...

Soul Taker had a lot of potential (the first scene of the anime shows the main character's mother murdering him), and had some neat characters (Shiro and Komugi), but none of those neat characters did anything interesting. I couldn't follow what was really supposed to be happening, and it just failed to keep my interest.

So I got a refund.

Hmm, I don't think I've posted my list in here.

I think I'll first go with Lucky Star- Horribly overrated, terrible character designs, the comedy is just bad, you have to be a complete anime geek to even remotely think it's funny, I mean talking about how to eat certain foods? come on now. Also the OP might be one of the most scary things I've ever seen.

Second, Gundam Seed Destiny is pretty bad stuff, I sort of liked Seed a little, I mean I liked a couple of the characters, the problem here is that they took out all the cool characters or they made them impossible to like, the story is just all over the place, and Shinn might be the single most annoying character in existence, it's either him or Shinji from NGE. Kira is also about as unlikable as he can get, got this anime is terrible.

Dragonaut is pretty dang bad, the only thing that makes it sort of worth watching is that it's one of those things that is so ridiculous that it's sort of funny. The thing has perhaps the bustiest female cast ever, just completely over the top, to the point where you wonder how the characters walk. It also has the love will overcome all thing going for it, but not in a good way, also Kazuki might be the single most pathetic character ever (panties eyepatch ftl)!

Still, a fun topic to discuss, and I wasn't here last time. I see some of the series mentioned here are ones that I actually have enjoyed, though I'll forgive the ones who mentioned them. :)

Anyways, for some time now, whenever I hear "worst anime", one thing pops up in my mind: Virus Buster Serge. It was a 12 or 8 episode series, I can't remember which for sure, and I actually think it's the same Virus anime mentioned by space early on in this thread. Virus is an alternate title for the show, at least, and I'm not aware of another anime by that name.

I actually watched the whole series when it aired on Sci-Fi's ani-monday line-up. In all its horribly dubbed glory. But even if the dub hadn't been bad, I doubt I would have enjoyed it.

The basic premise of the series involves a future world threatened by the Virus; a bizare entity that can infect both organic matter (namely, humans) and technology. And it seems to like to rip organic matter apart and reform it, sometimes merging it with nearby machines in the process, taking them over in an unpleasant fashion.

If you've ever played the video game Homeworld: Cataclysm, the enemy from that game, the Beast, is similar in basic concept. I really enjoyed HW:C, so perhaps the similarity had something to do with why I watched Virus Buster Serge till the end. Indeed, a scene near the end of the first episode, *SPOILERS COMING* in which the Virus rips apart a test pilot and takes control of his mech, was actually somewhat well-done I thought, and definitely brought to mind HW:C.

But ugh. The entire series turned into a mess. Or more of one, anyways. The storyline made no sense as the series went along. The various forms the Virus took basically became nothing but ugly blobs, and didn't do the concept justice. And none of the action scenes particularly stood out either. Oh, did I mention the dub was bad and the story made no sense?

And finally... the "Brain Lizard", as he was called in the English dub, was NOT a good villian in any sense.

Later on I'll write about the anime that may actually be worse than Virus Buster Serge.

I was convinced that Virus Buster Serge would be the worst anime I'd ever see for a long, long time. I was wrong.

Physic Wars...

A fairly short OVA, it only ran for 1 hour counting commercials. And that is a very good thing. I managed to sit through all 12 (I checked and it is 12) episodes of Virus Buster Serge, as at times it could mildly amuse me in some way. But I could barely make it to the end of the much shorter Physic Wars.

The basic premise involves a doctor who opperates on a woman with an unusual cancer, only to discover that the cancer is related to a race of demons killed 5,000 years ago. He is given supernatural powers in order to fight the return of the demons, only to somehow get thrown into the past and become the one who wiped them out in the first place.

The story was simple and not especially original, but I could maybe forgive that if it had been presented better. But it wasn't handled well at all, and just came off as a dull and stilted mess.

Physic Wars had a fair amount of fighting in, as it was a fairly action focused anime. The fighting was so bad it made me long for poorly told story. The worst designed and most uninteresting fight scenes I've ever seen. When I looked up Physic Wars, I found out that it was made in 1991, so perhaps it's old age explains some of the lack of finese in the fight scenes, but it can't excuse the horrible designs.

The demons in Physic Wars were utterly laughable. The most hideous enemy designs I've ever seen. Not hideous in a good, fearsome way... just hideous.

Physic Wars couldn't even make me laugh at how bad it was, like VBS could at times with the ridiculous antics of the Brain Lizard. Physic Wars was just... dull. I used that word before, but it fights everyone about it. Dull characters, dull enemies, dull story... you get the picture.

And so, it is with great fanfore that I induct Physic Wars as the worst anime I have ever seen. I pray it will remain so for all eternity.

i dont think that a sad or horrific ending make a anime bad, its the overall thing.

now that is a hard question cuz when something is really bad then i simply dont watch it, but there was a single anime i watched in the days i only started to watch anime( and i watched everything i could get my hands on) and even then that show made me sleepy. gasaraki. stupid combonation of evangelion and real tech full with stupid dances and pointless higher things.
why the hell people get crazy when they pilot those mechas? there was nothing logical in that show, the story seemed to be lost and that was a complete crap.

another show i hated on a retrospect was gundam seed destiny. it was the first gundam i watched and i kinda liked it, that is until i started to watch other gundam shows and found out how unoriginal this show was, half of it they ripoffed from seed, the amount of repeated scenes showed how lazy they were and the lack of killing of main character (even when you try to make it look like it) was simply shameful. even the ending was stupid, they just blow the entire zaft fleet with couple of ships and few MS...AGAIN! and in the end the same idiots who just killed thousends of ZAFT fighters got control over the diffrent countries...she sings well so they give her full control after she laid waste to their fleet...twice? supreme intellegence my ass.

Destiny was truly horrific, it was great example of a studio bowing down to the idea of fanservice, it was just so so so bad, again Shinn might be the worst character ever, but the thing that made it all worse was that the studio realized what a bad and annoying character he was so they tried to switch the main character status like halfway through the show.

And then there is the absolute travesty that is Jesus Yamato, I mean the idea that someone can be so omnipotent not only in their beliefs but also in the personality is just sickening, he doesn't have a personality, at least he cried in Seed, even if that was annoying at least it showed that he actually felt things.

My god it was bad.

definitley. you cant judge an anime if you just watched the first few episodes, but I have to admit I only watched the first 4 or 5 episodes of Samurai Champloo and I didnt like them either(exept the first one)

One of the worst anime series is Dragonball GT...it was a landslide for the DBZ series..

Hikaru No Go - at 1st it has an interesting theme...but as you go further....similar things happen..like this Hikaru vs this...Hikaru vs Akira...Akira vs This...Akira vs someone in the internet... Akira vs Hikaru again...Hikaru enroll in a GO school..Hikaru vs this.k. Hikaru vs Akira again...The matchups are very repetative that they end up with the same opponents a lot of times...

the worst thing in GSD was that there was no thinking in their combat, they would go in there and just kill everyone, no tactics watsoever, especially with freedom, that thing just pawn everything...i still dont understand why athuran break up with his fiancee in the mid show and went with the helms girl or why even there was a final fight! and that patethic pointless death of characters...they brought that orange Gouf pilot and killed him 2 episode later...oh the trauma. and what a stupid way to die. actually EVERYONE die there for stupid reasons, stellar went insane because kira have to get his screen time and ray just decided to stay on an exploding station with his mother and dying father after HE shot him, one of the fastest alighment change ever.

most of the show was to show that they can blow more mobile suits then you can count and that destruction of entire cities in seconds is very normal in the future. the detruction of berlin was just stupid, they only did that to draw a line that this guys are good and those are bad. i can keep on going all day about how bad that show was.

You hardly ever see the main characters, the majority of events occur within U.N-like conventions (which makes it soooooooooo boring in my view).:facepalm

The main characters with the exception of Duo all have a major gripes against life and are emo for like 24 hours. They had potential but for the most part were left underdeveloped.

Relena's version of pacifism failed to appeal me.

The gundam fights were nice...but thats all there is.

Sorry to all Gundam Wing fans, yes, I very much dislike this series.

naruto got nothing to do with SC, after all one is about a pretty realistic fighting and a down to earth story (the reason for the girl father to leave her was pretty original) while the other show is about a ninja in orange and insane ninja tricks (its a matter of time until there would be a villege with a nuclear sign on their forhead and they will use atomico no jitsu which is to summon a b-52 to drop a nuke on their enemies...either that or a ninja mecha...)

Anime is never a good judge for the series if there's a manga so I've lost a bit of faith in some of the manga adaptation ones.

Of the latest season I absolutely could not stand Crystal Blaze. Was about some glass woman and it bored the hell out of me. Could barely survive through the one episode. I just wonder what the hell are they trying to achieve by creating such a boring anime!

I'd like to point out that anything discussed here isn't necessarily bad :T really, if you ask "what's the worst anime you ever watched" you are going to get a different answer from everyone and not everyone might agree with the answer.

on the other hand, you could've put some more effort into providing reasons for not liking said anime rayne, next time try and think of something a bit more elaborate and sensible. like your reason for not liking NOIR is not exactly clear. It was obviously boring, but why? and as for Trigun, you could have used something else than "retarded", like "not cool" or whatever. Try and not sound like you're hating on something please.

with that said, I'll remind everyone again to please not flame anything in here, just provide some sensible, legit reasons for not liking something and I'm fine with it.

Trigun - everyone tries to compare it to Cowboy Bebop, and they say that Trigun is just as good if not better than CB. i found the episodes to be quite choppy at times (and very sappy too) but the characters are quite loveable.

NOIR - the anime was all talking. the only good thing about it was the art maybe.... it was uncool unrealistic. the girls never get hit and it never really made sense... the guys didnt bleed when they were hit. its like a heaven or hell thing... you either liked it or hated it.

I think they should have just stopped making new Pokemon episodes after the like season 3 or something...before May came. Trigun i watched the first few episodes and found it to be mediocre, the main character was too silly at times, and the quality of the animation was poor.

I also find one piece to be a travesty, such horrible quality, i can't believe an editor actually okay'd that series. Much in the same manner that the english dubbed versions of bleach and naruto are.

YYH and outlaw star were done incredibly, just like dbz, and the Big O, (just to name a few) i don't understand how a subbing company can screw up so badly.

As for the worst anime I've ever seen, Baki the Grappler has to take the cake. It's one of those that's so bad that it's actually funny and somewhat amusing. Recommended to be watched while intoxicated.

Frankly I don't think OP is THAT bad, but the rest are just "trash"

-Digimon started off well, but with every season, it gets worse

-Kiba, good first episode but then OMG the fighting mechanism is just lame, they just pull out some small balls and throw them at each other

-Yo-gi-something: I never liked cards battles, I tried to watch this one but I couldn't force myself to continue watching the second episode

-Hunter X Hunter is soooo bad, the art is bad, the plot is worse and the characters are the worst.

one of the street fighter movies, they went around the world, searching for the reason they fight...in the end this girl sakura had this long monologe of why she fights.

it was something like 5 minutes of zen like crap and the final phrase that she fights to find that answer...
i just wanted to shot her and mutilate her body as a warning to the rest of the fighters to keep their thoughts to temselves.

Here is a small list of what I consider to be the worst anime I have ever seen:

- Dead Leaves. The animation was dizzying (but interesting in its own way) and the story was just... bleh.

- Fist of the North Star. Sure it's an oldie, but goodness it was slow and boring. I was quite convinced that all the protagonist did for a good third of the show was walk a block and then save the same two people he had been saving since the beginning.

- Basilisk. I really wanted to like the main characters and their subordinates. Really, I did. BUT, it is rather hard to form any attachment to these characters simply because most of them are brought in for the sole purpose of dying an episode or so later.

death note was a etter manga than anime, except the ending...both sucked in my oppinion. And they should all die for what they did to mello's voice. Watch dexter its a better execution(wow I just realized tyhe pun you put in)

I couldn't bring myself to like Death Note, after seeing the crazy fangirls/boys. What the heck is with all the hype? People just randomly pair characters and write slash fiction about it. I don't care about a chibi L eating a piece of cake, okay? Maybe if the younger fans took it a little more seriously, I'd watch the anime more.

For example, last year in my 8th grade class, a bunch of annoying kids made a Death Note fan club. And they'd only watched the dub! Not to mention, they couldn't understand the plot very well, either. I've watched a few dubbed episodes of DN, and it isn't that bad. They have good characters, and blah. I guess the manga is better.

P.S. Pokemon isn't a bad anime. If you watch the Japanese episodes, you would know. The dub was screwed up by 4Kids, so was the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime dub.

I understand your pain, Suzy, diehard fans are the worst part of any popular series. Deathnote deserves further consideration though, if you can find a way to seperate it from its fanbase. There's so much more to it than the shipping and the cake. It's far from some perfect masterpiece, but it's still an excellent series that's completely unlike anything else. The manga is definately better, though.

Why all the DN dub hate? It's one of the best performances I've ever seen come out of Ocean studios.

As for my own opinion, I loathe all series based on long-running Playstation RPGs. Especially Final Fantasy Unlimited and Star Ocean EX. They could have at least pretended to try with them.

IMO, I really believe they just copied Tenjou Tenge, changed the characters and created a sort of story without any meaning.

I'd definitely have to say the Street Fighter tv series. They turned chunli into a wimp and the background music was god awful. I also didn't like Super gals or Evangelion. Well, it's not so much that I hate evangelion, it's just that I didn't get it. I mean I missed one episode and was lost for the remainder of the series.

I'll try to list what I can, but my mind has blocked out a lot of the worst experiences. So it's going to be tough.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - This wasn't that bad, TBH. It was just mediocre IMO--the characters were bland or annoying, and the plotting wasn't anything special. What puts this on the list is how it's treated like the Second Coming by so many people, which is completely unwarranted IMO. So the fanbase killed it for me.

Watch time = 3 episodes, if that.

Hokuto no Ken - I'm with Lithium on this 100%. Kenshirou is the only saving grace--the rest is slow, schlocky and soporific.

Watch time = 3 episodes.

Nabari no Ou - The constant deferences to Naruto and the pretentious writing--especially the dialouge--ruined everything. The author tried SO hard to be profound and different; a lot of it came off as contrived bullshit. I was ready to finish the series, but I missed a few episodes and lost my resolve.

Watch time = 17 episodes.

Prince of Tennis - What do you get when you take an already mediocre manga and load it with even worse filler? The 178-episode shit carnival that was the PoT anime. When your favorite episode is the chibi one-shot where the team is a family, something is very, very wrong. The studio learned it's lesson in the OVA, though.

Watch time = about 6-7 regular episodes + most of the (vastly superior) OVA.

Hellsing - Another piss poor filler-laden adaptation. I can't forget that cocksucker Incognito fast enough. This series is what ruined my opinion of Gonzo for good, and cast a permanent jaded eye on every manga adaptation I've watched since. Thank God for the Hellsing Ultimate OVA.

Watch time = the first and last episode, snippets of the others, and the whole OVA.

Angel Cop - The warpspeed pacing took an OVA with potential and reduced it to 2 hours of gratuitous violence and moralistic nonsense. Way to go, Soeishinsha.

Watch time = 5 episodes (complete).

Naruto: Shippuden - While the first series had it's share of good episodes, Shippuden has been lame from day one. Why? You guessed it--filler and shit pacing. It doesn't help that Part 2 of the manga doesn't get any good until Sasuke comes back, and is still inconsistent after that. But that's no excuse.

Watch time = The first episode, a few random ones, and episode 26.

I'll think of some more later.
