Oooh this is an extremely tough one. I don't think I could put my finger on one but I don't like angry songs unless I feel angry haha. Love is always nice:p although the outside has the hardened exterior of your regular tough guy on the inside is a heart made of gold, jelly, chocolate and ice cream, so, lets say soft and squishy:p

I actually prefer themes like...darkness...and anger. Some songs about society are awesome as well though...

I don't mind any theme to be really honest i will even listen to a depressed song when i am like really happy. Doesn't affect my mood.

Suicide. And songs about not committing suicide. Also alcoholism and drug use make for some of the best songs (opinion)

I used to be all about political songs (punk rock type stuff, not folk-bah) , but they've just seemed too unoriginal and uninspiring lately.

Hmm I usually listen to songs that fit my mood. Those usually fit into three categories: fist-pumping, never-give-up 'fight' songs; happy, mushy love songs; and mournful tragic woe-is-me songs. XD

I dunno actually... I guess what matters most is the quality of the song rather than what it talks about? =P

Really I'd listen to anything as long as I like it :p ...though most of the songs I listen to relate to love/society

I just like songs where you can feel the emotion, that's when it gets to you. So usually it's with angry or angsty songs. Well not always but come on ppls!! Sing it like you mean it!!

Yeah, I agree. I will say that lyrics aren't as important as the actual feeling. Since you can put feeling into average lyrics and make them more special than not having any passion for singing a song with great lyrics.

I like all sorts of things with lyrics. Most songs are love songs so of course those, the subtle ones and then the mushy ones XD.

Most songs I like probably have metaphorical lyrics which I don't understand. Kinda lame not understanding these songs ><. Like a song off the top of my head is My Sundown by Jimmy Eat World. Not too sure what its about but some sort of recovery I think.

im not sure exactly...

most songs i listen to are random songs...different genre's, styles etc.

i like thse 'sad' songs...but i like 'fast' rock songs too...aswell as like hip hop, which can vary.

i'm not realy sure now...i need to listen some more to see which is my absolute fave stle of sounds...

linkin park are my faves, but they do all different styles so i can't even decide from them alone.

Folklore songs. Anything when you can feel the history and emotion.

I'm for mellow songs and I don't usually listen to ear-breaking rocks and r n'b even if they have nice lyrics.

Well to answer the question:
Mostly it's about love and friendship. Songs with themes like that makes me reflect about life. The slowness makes you want to cry, or just sleep, sometimes.

And since I'm so into anime, I prefer the Japanese songs and I take them as very meaningful. The lyrics matter.

Mellow English (I mean the language) songs are cool as well, needless to say, understandable.

I'm more to the love-anger songs, it sounds romantic, but it doesn't go slow. Rock in the music, but love in the lyrics. Yeah, something like that. Songs about society itself and life is awesome too.

I don't listen to a lot of songs with sugar-coated lyrics. I love it most when the songs that I listen to gives me passage ways and chances for me to see life and reflect myself. :)

Seems like dark themes are modern :P
I dislike love songs although it depends on the song itself, but friendship is good(and jealosy :love)
I usually care most for the lyrics even though they sometimes don't match the real feeling of the song and the music..So I say it depends on the song

I love dark and angsty themes. Death, grief, fear, love, anger, losing yourself, those just seem to produce the best songs. But it has to be subtle.

songs with motivating theme, like how to go tru hardships in life, songs about finding yourself... mainly themes that revolve around exploring selves.

war and its effect towards people..., but I won't say no to a love song as long as it's not too mushy... :D

I like various different types of songs, however love songs are my least favourite themed songs, unless they're unconventional in some way, or unless the music is just too good and I can ignore the lyrics.

I generally prefer darker genres, death, destruction, loss (but not in an 'oh no I lost my girlfriend' way), etc.

Ah, I love piano pieces. :)

I actually never really thought about what topics I like. I think I can come up with what I don't like more easily lol I'd have to say my favorite themes for songs would be something ethereal or abstract.

Anything as long as they are nature, adventure, action, majestic themed.I love any music with the sound of flute in it too ^^

It really depends on the execution of the theme of the song, any song can be decent so long as the presentation is okay.

I do have to admit, though, that my favorite song theme is abstract. I love ambiguous lyrics that take on a new meaning every time you listen to the song. You know...themeless songs...XD
