Which concerts have you guys been to, or planning to go to? Tell us about your experiences and all ^^:p

I've only been to one concert which was The Idea of North, my friend who's into jazz and stuff dragged me along. Wasn't expecting much but it was amazing. It was held in this place which was a converted chapel. So it was small, 300 seats.

They're a jazz acapella group but they sing lots of different styles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLpoEB_2JZ8 - Mas Que Nada

Its not for everyone but I think they're pretty awesome XD.

The bass dude is awesome XD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qafo7bwhoKg - Rachel, their own composition.

I'll be seeing Linkin Park on October 14th at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Thats set to be one of the best nights of my life XD.

well...i'd been in several variety of concerts. For Classical, I'd attended Opera Concerts, and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra's Final Fantasy Concert. For Modern Music, I mainly attended some Hip-Hop Concert such as The Roots, KRS-One, and De La Soul. I only attended one Rock Concert and it's Maroon 5.

hmmm ... haven't been to a concert in years :(

First concert I went to was a Bon Jovi concert, Last concert I went to was a Michael Buble concert ... there was a Savage Garden concert, a 98o concert, and a Winnie Shin concert in between. Aside from that, all the other concerts I've attended would be the ones I was performing in :p

Hanson - 1998 (first concert ever. Not there best tour, though)

Spice Girls - 1998 (amazing show! Didn't get to see Geri, though *sob sob*...loved Emma singing "Baby love" and bringing a kid on-stage...and all the jokes about Victoria having to go to the bathroom so much because she was preggers with Brooklyn at the time)

The Moffatts - 1999 (had AMAZING seats, so it was all luv)

Hanson - This Time Around Tour- 2000 (favorite concert of Hanson. Great seats!)

Backstreet Boys- Black and Blue tour - 2001 (I think...) (Friend had an extra ticket, so she asked me to go...I was sick with a bad cold, but I didn't want to let her down. But the show was actually very entertaining!)

Britney Spears - Dream Within a Dream tour- 2002 (favorite concert EVER. She might not be able to sing, and has gone downhill, but she puts on a GREAT show, and this was back when she wasn't white trash)

Avril ft. Simple Plan - Try To Shut Me Up tour - Didn't really give a hoot about SP, but Avril put on a good show! Especially when she brought this big guy on stage, and he was from Belgium and he picked her up during one of the songs and walked around the stage with her on his shoulders XD I also saw Art from the band Everclear in the audience!)

(club concert) Hanson -2003 (I got to meet them here, so this one will always be special to me. But it was too short)

Sarah Brightman - Harem Tour -2004 (Beautiful. One of the most beautiful woman in the world, with a voice of gold, and the concert was breathtaking...had amazing seats when she came out to the stage that was in the middle of the arena)

Britney Spears - Onyx Hotel Tour - 2004 (It was great, but too short, and this is when Britney started going down hil...she wasn't as energtic as with the DWD tour)

I'm more into theatre than concerts :o But if and when Hanson comes back, I will go see them :yay

oooh you saw the spice girls lol that must have been interesting : D Doesn't Hanson have a new album? Well kinda new. Next concert I'm going to is Elton John in the vineyards. It will be neat cos hardly any people fit into the room there when normally he is in a stadium.

lack of space and I'm not picking the music nor the volume...

Would rather spend my money to go see the Shaolin monks next time they're doing a show here.

LOL I'm not too good at running down stairs and our seats were waaaay too far away to ensure our souvenirs were signed. The concert booklet was kinda expensive too.

If she ever came down my way, I'd buy Celine Dion concert tickets. I love her singing.

Hmmn, not a lot, not much of a concert goer 'cause tix can get expensive.

Depeche Mode, Music for the Masses tour, Summer 1988 at Jones Beach, NY! OMD opened for them! Great concert, totally loved it!

Erasure, I think it was 1994 at Radio City Music Hall, NYC!

Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, and Steven Curtis Chapman, February 2005, at Continental Airlines Arena, NJ! Awesome experience!

Bands I would love to see in concert:
The Cure
New Order

Yeah, I'm a new waver from back in the '80's.

I was like in the middle because my friend's girlfriend didn't want to go near the scene (lol). Just before LP I've decided to run between people dancing pogo. When I was doing this, one man took me up and people start carrying me to the front. That's where I lost my jumper. I was in the front when LP came out and it was great and scary because all the people were jumping and crushing me. The most funny thing was when Mike's sayng "I see that some of you in the front have fun but remember, you are one big family so you have to take care about each other. When somebody falls down - put him up."

Don't forget to do that.

Did Mike see you getting crushed then say it or just in generally? :p such a caring rock band XD ^^

He picked me up and and started it. Then other people were carrying me until some guy from security told them to stop. I was in first line - he gave me water and was asking how I was feeling and etc. I think it was because not many girls staid in the front.

I wish he did xD
It was in generally. You know - it was like a BIG pogo and some people were falling down. LP really have great contact with their fans and "their fans are the best in the world". LOL.
They were great, especially Mike and... Brad. He was running around for the whole time and telling us to sing louder (few times we were louder than Chester).
After the concert many people were saying that this two were the best and they were surprised by Brad behaviour.

So I finally saw Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto live...I've never had so much fun at a concert. Ever. Plus it was in this fancy new venue called Toad's Place that was really nice.

Reel Big Fish is the most hilarious live band ever. They seriously have the best banter with the crowd. And the cover of Enter Sandman was awesome...

02. Lying From You
03. Somewhere I Belong
04. No More Sorrow
05. Papercut
06. Points of Authority
07. From The Inside
08. Leave Out All the Rest
09. Numb
10. Pushing Me Away
11. Breaking the Habit
12. In the End
13. Crawling
14. Bleed It Out
15. The Little Things Give You Away
16. What I've Done
17. Faint
Are those headphones Brad's wearing? =O
Brad looks really crazy with his headphones. He has a lot of hair so it's funny that he haven't lost them.

Ooh ok cool ^_^

Only 4 songs from their new album, I would've thought they'd play more.

Wahaha! I can't wait! Its going to be one of the best days of my life! I guess since he doesn't sing he won't use the earbuds that they have, headphones must give the best sound haha. Interesting that! ^_^

I haven't been to many concerts because no one likes the music i like which sucs but ones i have been to.

2001 - Gareth Gates - eww shoot me for Pop idol dude seriously i liked him a bit much back them. He was goo live tho xD Now i can't stand the bloak xD

2002 - Some random bands came to high school so we went to the concert one was called Outlandish the others were like these random bands xD sucked tbh.

2004 - McFLY - FIRST LIVE OMG. They were so young and i remember it like yesterday xD. Support band V was the biggest cheese in the world xD

2004 - Party in the park - Loadsa random acts in a park. I can only remember McFLY and some woman called Beverly Night there xD.

2006 -
Party in the park - McFLY, Duncan James, Shayne ward and other cheese i only went for McFLY XD.

McFLY X2 on the motion in the ocean tour - I missed their second tour because no one got me any tickets so i bought two to this one xD was amazing to be quiet honest. Met with loads people on these tours i have been talking to on the net!! I met the support abdn the lcick five from America. Not a abd little band tbh in my eyes everyone else will be like CHEESE.

2007 - McFLY UCAP tour - Was amazing and Dougie sang alone live was so cute xD Met some online friends again was so funny.

TO COME

McFLY X3 greatest hits tour. Yes i am completely insane and will see them 4 times this year XD.

I am looking at other bands and stuff but doubt anyone will go >.<

I am glad she did because i was that angry anyways because we were late and had to make our way through the crowd and we couldn't get a warm drink or anything because it was that icy cold outside i could feel my fingers freezing up and one of my other friends had anoyed me at the time. Then she went and did that. I think i would have really given her a nice shiny black eye.

The Linkin Park concert was on Sunday night. JUST DAMN!!! I was so blown away! It was brilliant! My friend and I got there early by about 2 and a half hours. Had to wait around in the queue for the prime position outside the doors to the arena for an hour and a half. They started about 15 minutes late with Chris Cornell's band. He was a good performer but I couldn't understand a word he was saying, probably since the levels were a bit screwy, music was louder than the mic, also I have a cold which made my hearing a bit dodgy.

I did think the music was a bit loud and stuff, yes, I'm not a complete hardcore rocker, I do care about my hearing a bit. It would've been fine a tiny bit softer.

After Chris Cornell played for an hour, we had to wait around 40 minutes for them to fix up the stage in preparation for LP. Once they came out, it was just godly! They started with No More Sorrow and the lights and all was so awesome and exciting! When the curtains opened and the band started the song everyone was jumping up and down screaming and going crazy! I could die there! Just bliss!

I was like "Gah >< too loud" for Chris Cornell, for LP though, I thought it was fine haha XD. Just shows that I didn't like Chris Cornell's music much haha. Everyone jumping, singing, screaming, such a great night.

At one stage there was this girl who passed out and had a few people drag her out. It was really hot and sweaty in the pit area. They had no moshing signs and no crowd surfing, everyone was really well behaved.

XD glad you had a great time. Sounded ace from what you told me on MSN. Yeah concerts are deafening for me as well but thats cause my hearing is sensetive but i get used to it once the show gets going but i get a cracker of a headache the day after. But meh its good fun.

No mosh at LP gigs wth is going on. Guess there acting to the seriousness of the new album eh?

Got a concert coming up myself cannot wait i won't even mention who cause you can probs guess. Dear me *hides*

Are Linkin Park still just using the same songs from 2001? I haven't listened since then but they seem to be all I hear on the radio.

Exodus and Goatwhore in Winnipeg, MB on Feb 18th was just amazing. My face is still a little puddle on the ground.

I don't go to many concerts (don't have the money), but I've seen Dir en Grey and got the back of my shirt signed by Die, and I went to Project Revolution. There were a lot of bands there, but I pretty much only went to see Mindless Self Indulgence. Man, they're amazing in concert. :fangirl

We don't really hear of these bands in Australia. What type of music do they play?

Projekt Revolution is all heavy rock isn't it?

iNSOMNiA
03-25-2008, 07:43 AM
Well, Dir en Grey is a JRock band, but they're actually somewhat metal. So I was really glad I got the chance to see them when they came to the Country. =]

Mindless Self Indulgence is... Well... I guess a mixture of Rock/Techno/Metal/Electronica... They've really got a unique sound, so its hard to place them in any genre.
But yeah, Projekt Revolution is all pretty much heavy rock, but I honestly didn't really care to see the other bands (didn't particularly like them), I only went for MSI. At least I can say that I saw the others though. The other bands I saw there were Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Saosin, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday (I think), HIM, and uhhh... Some other bands that I can't quite remember at the moment... ^_^;;

No surprise there, Dir en Grey is probably one of the most popular JRock bands worldwide now. I just wasn't sure which band you wanted me to elaborate on... ^_^;; They're sort of like an acquired taste though. You either like 'em or you don't. =] Hmmm, its actually been a long time since I've listened to them, but my favorite song by them has always been Clever Sleazoid (the original, not the newer version). Some other good songs are Obscure, Agitated Screams of Maggots, and The Final... I could always recommend more, but I really should go back and listen to them again... It sure has been a while. ^_^

Yeah, Linkin Park's certainly a popular band. They've got some catchy songs, the only thing I don't really like about them much is that I've noticed most of their songs sound the same. I don't really like to bash on bands/musicians very much though, I respect music in all forms. xD That doesn't mean I have to like it though. =P

The next concert I'll probably go to will be at an upcoming convention... An Cafe is playing, and its free as long as you've got a con pass, so why not? x3

Yeah, LP self admittedly used to choose songs which sounded the same for their first 2 albums which is why they decided to go for a change on their new album. Each song is different and there's so much more dynamic. Heaps of the idiot metal-head fans who just like lots of heavy guitar and cymbals didn't like that saying LP were going soft and whatever junk.:yell

No problem! ^_^ Hopefully you enjoy them, and if not... Then that's just how it is. xD

Sounds like you've definitely got an opinion on this. x3 I've always supported artists doing what they want to do... If Linkin Park wants to change their music in some way, I think they have every right to, and if fans don't like it, then yeah, don't listen. xD Nobody is forced, like you said.

I have to admit, even though I'm not really a fan of them, Linkin Park put on a pretty good show. =]

Well I went to see Tiger Army the other week, they were pretty damn awesome, they had a lot of energy and really got the crowd going. It was also a really awesome scene, lots of people with fantastic hair and gorgeous tats.

To completely offset that, I'm taking my sister to see HIM on Thursday, because she loves them to bits. I bought her the tickets for Christmas and since she doesn't know anyone else in Melbourne I get to take her.

Then in a couple of weeks I'll be rocking out to Pennywise, featuring Sum 41 and The Vandals. That should be awesome.

Now I just need to get my tickets to Soilwork and Gyroscope and I'll be a happy girl :)

what...listen to reanimation album and miniutes to midnight album. they sound nothingalike. and the songs don't all sound the same. it'sjust that linkin park uses acertain style of sound that nobody else uses. so if they were the only ones to use it on 2 albums of their own, then the songs would sound familair.

My first concert was a present from my parents for my 16th B-day. It was Avril Lavigne. I liked her at the time, and was really excited. It was outdoors, and I had seats way in the back with my friend. It poured on us lol. I didn't mind though, I like the rain anyway =P It dried quick so it wasn't a big deal. I hate Avril now though XP

I've also been to see Evanescence twice. The last one I went to, I got Terry Balsamo's guitar pick O.O I was very close to catching a drumstick, but the guy next to me got it, and then my sister's boyfriend caught the pick and gave it to me. It is now framed in my room with a picture of Terry so I remember who it came from XD I can't wait to go to another concert. Nightwish, Within Temptation, or Sick Puppies would be cool.

I went to see Jack Johnson on Wednesday night at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, his 2nd show in Melbourne.

Matt Costa's band played as the opening act as well as some Australian acoustic guitarist. They were pretty cool, then Jack came on and everyone screamed like crazy:p! He's so calm and collected when performing. His live performances sound so much better than the CD recordings!

For his encore, he played 4-5 songs with just him and his acoustic with the starlight background. Magic:inlove!

@Speed: Thats because its a festival and usually you don't get to see all of those people live it depends on what stage your at. So you mainly have to move around if your favourite bands are on different stages. But yeah festivals pretty much are the shizz.

Ah Jack Johnson lucky my friend would have murdered you to see him she proper loves his music. I only know the song Banana Pancakes because she sings it all the time XD.

@Monz: Great Line up there. Is that led Zeppelin I spy between those lines someplace I thought they said 02 arena and that was that O_O. Unless its a tribute band.

Am on my toes currently waiting for Monday to grab tickets for festival for this summer that occurs in my home city every year. Not sure on the line up as its announced the same day but from the rumours I keep hearing its going to be a pretty good one. Cannot wait tbh.

I thought i was seeing things. Yeah hes doing his own thing is Robert with this American country and western singer I dunno it was on TV a couple of months back.

Yeah its pretty crazy because you sort of have to know where acts are and find ways to get the stages and sometimes there in tents as well its crazy. Normally the main stages are best over here because there endorsed by Radio stations and thus get the most attention from acts.

It's a cool song but i wish she'd sing another song of his because it drives me mad because Jack Johnson = Banana Pancakes.

My first concert was back in 2002 or so. It was a Christian band called Larue (It's been so long, but I'm pretty sure that is how it is spelled). It was a small live, but good from what I remember. They were really nice and did a signing afterwards too.

Around 2004 I saw Elton John live in Miami. He's one of my Dad's favorites and he wanted me to go with him. I don't like Elton John's music that much, but it was fun nonetheless. Huge auditorium too. It's too bad they didn't allow cameras.

2006 was my first real concert with a band I actually liked a lot. D'espairsRay! By some miracle, they came to MegaCon that year and I got to see them live for the first time. The crowd was crazy. Zero gave his bass to some girls because they wanted to hold it, but they wouldn't give it back. There was a struggle to get it back and as a result Zero had to re-tune it, so there was no bass for the last couple of songs. I'm just really happy I was there because the next single they released (凍える夜に咲いた花) had footage from our concert! I recently got them to sign the booklet too, so it is extra special to me.

This year has been really good so far. I got to see D'espairsRay, MUCC, and The Underneath (Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour) at both their Tampa and Orlando lives. I had a floor ticket for Tampa, so I was all of five feet from Hizumi and Karyu. Since I have pretty much all of MIRROR memorized, it was a wonderful experience singing along with Hizumi. The crowd however, SUCKED. People around me were making rude comments the whole time MUCC and The Underneath were playing and generally being asshats. I was pissed because they can see their bands anytime and I have to wait years to see mine. The Orlando live was much better. The crowd was huge and a great number of people on the floor seemed really into it. The Underneath did a signing there too, so I was really glad I went. I have things signed by all three bands now and a lot of their merchandise I didn't have before. I'll never forget these two concerts. Really memorable!

Now I can only hope Dir en Grey comes back since I missed their Inward Scream tour (wasn't even considering the Famliy Values one), and that D'espairsray and The Underneath come back. I think it is too much to hope for, but I would die of happiness if J-rock Revolution came to Florida.

I got crushed in the pit during Sum 41, the world is a stranger place than I'd previously though. I mean come on, people actually get excited enough about them to crush other people in their efforts to get to the front? Crazy. They also annoyed me by covering 'Attitude' by the Misfits. No Sum 41, no.

On the other hand Bowling for Soup were bloody awesome.

EDIT: Holy cow, Attitude just came on iTunes. I swear that program is psychic...

When I went to the Linkin Park concert I was scared of the moshers and getting crushed too ><

My friend and I were about 2nd row from the front of the rear general admission floor section at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. As soon as LP came on everyone just surged forward and people squeeze their way infront of you and block your view:yell! Was scary, just the energy of everyone behind pushing forwards.

My friend went to radio ones big weekend. He said it was awesome. He was only there for madonna but wining tickets gah lucky sod.

I was gunna apply for T4 on the beach as well but eh travel costs for me are a no go.

Off to a local party in the park next month to see a whole load of bands and artists. I know McFly (why else would i go der) and scouting for girls (erm no) are going rest will be a bag of crap but am only going for my band XD.

Rofl at the Sum 41 thing. I don't mind them but there fans are just wacko.

Just remember me stuck in a mosh pit with around 100,000 people and you'll think yours was a walk in the park. Mines literally find me in a whole park field moshing to RATM and slipknot or indie stuff. Oh am gunna love the festival in August.

I've been to Ska Weekend 06 and They Might Be Giants. A few weeks ago I went to The Presidents of the United States of America (it floored me) and this coming week I'm going to see Dethklok in Atlanta.

I have tickets to see Nightwish on August 30th. I can't wait! I bought them a while ago and still have a bit of waiting to do, but I know it'll be worth it. Hopefully I'll get up front like I did at my Evanescence concerts. It's like a drug. Once you are up front at a concert, you just have to do it again XD

I went to an Amon Amarth concert last December. It was pretty cool. Well, aside from the neo-nazis. And the partial deafness.

I went to a Radiohead concert a couple of months ago. It was quite fantastic. Thom's singing was wonderful, and I heard a couple of songs I haven't listened to before. Now I have to go buy those songs too lol Radiohead is very good live.
