View Full Version : 'So you think you can dance' (season 3)
Anyone else watch this show? Got any fav' pairs? Was their performances good on the latest show? Should they have been voted out ... etc etc ...
I haven't settled on a fav' pair yet, since it's only the 2nd week of 'real' competition. Was rooting for 'Hok' before the rounds started, but there are just so many good dancers this season ...

Yey, you started a thread, thanks Jaws! *hugs*
Anyway, I love season 3 so far. The top 20 is absolutely the best compared to the first two seasons. I was rooting for Hok as well, but the choreography being given to him and his partner hasn't been good. Shane Sparks choreo last week didn't give Hok enough to do as Nigel said. As for this week, man, out of all the Latin dances, Samba is my fave and I wasn't feeling it in their performance. It was fun, but I want more Samba, more smooth hip movements, more sexy stuff. That said, he and his partner are safe and that's due in part to Hok 'cause he's mighty popular.
I was totally stunned Jessie and Pasha were in the bottom three 'cause I totally LOVED their jazz performance. Literally for the birds. I do agree with the judges that their solos lacked their usual performance. Well Pasha was better, but Jessie was missing that "it" factor that we all know she has. I think she was just down that she and Pasha got on the bottom 3.
LOVED Shauna's solo performance, absolutely left her heart out there. Did you see the spin she did where she lifted her leg in split position and maintained her speed as if she were on ice skates. Totally centered, totally controlled, totally LOVED by me. I want to spin like that. The crowd went wild!
As for who left, I thought the judges got it WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Screw uniqueness, Jimmy should have stayed man! Did you see the height of his split jumps??? That guy can fly! And he should have stayed!!! Cedric's going to be known not only as the guy who lets his partner down but also as the "great dancer slayer" as that makes two great dancers let go thanks to him. What were the judges on. Yeah, not happy with this decision.
As for faves, I still can't pick who I like. Oh but I do enjoy Lacey (Benji's sister) and Kameron's performances, especially last week's Contemporary set to the music "Dancing". That gave me chills it was so good. I'll add more later. Yeah, I'm a BIG fan of this show. XD

Oh, that's showing in about... two hours. It's more entertaining than those other reality shows I've seen for the last two weeks. More and more have been popping out since AI ended.
AND JIMMY SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT.
He put a lot of effort into his dancing, and it's hard to see him go. :(
@ Nocturne : You're very welcome *hugs right back* :)
Me thinks judges got it WRONG!! WRONG!! WRONG!! too!!! Dang it I was so sure Cedric was gonna be the one voted off ... not happy with the outcome at all!!! All I can say is, he better pay attention, and try as hell to improve, otherwise I feel so bad for the 2 dancers they let go over him. Gaaaa ... what were they thinking!!?? No doubt Cedric is insane when it comes to doin' his own thing, but ... just Gaaaaa!!!!
I thought I was hearing things when they say Pasha and Jessi was bottom 3!!?? I sort of have a nagging feelin' that people don't vote for them because they think everyone else is voting for them. Jessi's solo performance was dissapointing, but I thought Pasha did pretty good ... and Jimmy stumbled midway in his solo ^^; ... but I still think he's a better skilled dancer than Cedric is ( although Cedric did an excellent solo ). Shauna's solo definitely the best, it was emotional and she packed alot of skills in it.
I love Hok to death really ... but I was trying so hard not to laugh when I was watching his Samba performance, he really was very very 'stiff' and un-natural in every turn, and he had no idea what to do with his 'free' hand :p
But Anya and Danny ..... it's like they were dancing in the clouds, I loved how classy they were when they danced. To me the best pair on the last show was Sabra and Dominic, I was really surprised that he was able to put so much feelings into it, and he just went with the flow of the dance, the music. It was do or die for him, and it added so much emotion into his moves. Not quite sure about the Paso Doble over Queen's 'We will rock you' :D .... It was creative, and I think they chose the music probably because it fits Sara's personality, in hopes of masquerading her lack of skills? which they have done wonderfully I think ^^
Wonder if you have a fav' choreographer? I love Wade Robson's style alot :)
Looking forward to next week's show .....

I agree about Anya and Danny, Jaws!!! Their Viennese Waltz was just so graceful and beautiful, I didn't want it to end. And Danny's hands!!! It was the first thing I noticed about him during the dance, it's mezmerizing.
Sabra and Dominic also blew me away and it was one of those programs that I wish didn't end. Dominic really is taking this seriously and I love him for that. What a difference between him, a B-boy over Cedric.
Sara and Jesus (Chuy)'s Paso Doble was great as long as you muted the music. I love Queen, but We Will Rock You just isn't Paso Doble material. Also, the costumes screamed classic Paso Doble too so to see them doing those moves but hearing Queen just didn't mesh well together. I must add that I totally love the program Wade Robson choreographed for them last week set to the music from Triplets of Belleville. Absolute genius! And Sara surprised me 'cause she's supposed to be a B-girl, but man, she can dance anything it seems.
First stop, I hope that everything will be ok with Jessi, and I'm very sad to see this happen :( ... here is to wish her a speedy recovery.
As far as the show goes, I think everyone did marvelously .... even Cedric! It was miles away from what he did last week. I don't see an insecure dancer anymore, but what I now see is a dancer who wants to learn and grow, and that's more important than anything else. As for the contemporary routine ... well, it's pretty much what Mary said, I didn't think there were much dancing at all, and there were more acting on Cedric's part than anything else. Still, he did much much better than last week, and Shauna's performance was as solid as can be.
Sara and Jesus started off the show nicely, it's good to see Sara does what she's best at. Lacey and Kameron's Quickstep was really pretty, and they sure looked like they stepped out from the 50's era, I love Lacey's glamorous look. I thought Anya & Danny's Hip-Hop routine was really good, I didn't expect Anya to be able to do the moves so well actually, but she did everything pretty clean. Now for the RUMBA!!!! Good god Dominic is one hella sexy Latino!!!! I wished the dance was longer, it was such a naughty routine!!! This pair is fast becoming my favourite, they dance gracefully, and they are so believable!!! Loved the intro of Lauren & Neil's Tango, as a whole the performance was good, but not very outstanding. Then comes Wade Robson's Jazz routine .... STUNNING!!! I wasn't expecting something of that calibre when they say : Jazz routine!!! I thought I was watching a ballet routine, so creative, such intricate movements, simply out of this world!!! I really wished that Jessi didn't fall ill, and had danced the Cha-Cha with Pasha, could have been a great routine T_T ....
So, final thoughts .... my favourite routine this week, it has to be Wade Robson's Jazz routine, it is simply one of the best I've seen!!! I also loved Sabra and Dominic's performance, it was sexy, passionate, and believable.

It's not showing yet where I live, since I live off the mainland and on Guam, but I'll put my review when it does and edit this. :D
But I can't wait!
EDIT: I've seen the show. And I don't mind spoilers. :D
Sara and Jesus- I thought they were okay, you can tell Sara knows what she was doing. I've never really seen krump like that, so I can't really compare it to anything else.
Shauna and Cedric- I feel kinda bad for Shauna, because Cedric might cause her to fall into the bottom three, again. And you're right, Cedric's part seemed like an act.
Lacey and Kameron- Lol, I thought they were pretty good, as always. And Lacey's outfits are lovely.
Anya and Danny- They really did prove to be one of the top contenders of the show, because they were stunning, imo.
Sabra and Dominic- Oh my gosh, I loved this performance, and it really showed sensuality, which I think that's what they were trying portray in the dance. One of my favorites for this week.
Lauren and Neil- Lauren looks like the girl from Cheat! in G4 to me, it's really weird. It wasn't a performance that could outshine everyone else, but I liked it a lot.
Jaimie and Hok- One word. LOVE. They performance altogether was outstanding, and they were both IC, which was really nice to see. And Hok was my favorite from the start, lol, and it's good to see him doing well.
Pasha- He was really good, but when he was dancing with that lady, the sensuality they were trying to show in the dance completely diminished. If Jessi was there, I think it would be much better. Regards to her, and I hope she gets well, because if Pasha gets to the bottom 3, I don't want to see him cut immediately. I think that's what Nigel said. :(
Ahhh ... I'm sure you will enjoy the show Shannon :D
Especially Jaimie and Hok's Jazz routine .... if you can, tape it, it is awesome!!!
Edit : should I post my review at a later day? Since not everyone has a chance to watch the show on Wednesday? Don't want to spoil anything for anyone ^^; ... I can put everything in 'spoiler', but that kindda defeats the purpose of this thread.

LOL, Jaws, I was going to post a review last night too, but couldn't 'cause I would have double posted, but I agree, I suppose it's better to post later so others who haven't seen it wouldn't get spoiled.
As for Jessi, I hope she's feeling better. I really hope she can come back and dance, she was one of my fave female dancers. I was trying to look for updates on her condition, but nothing showing up on the news yet.
As for the dancing, another satisfying week for me. This is how I would rank them:
1. Jaimie and Hok - Bar none the best of the night and best program of the season so far. It was absolutely beautiful, haunting, brilliant wrapped into one! Wade Robson's choreo rocks! To take the strengths of Hok and Jaimie and create a masterpiece like that was genius! I got chills. Hok represented the movements of the hummingbird perfectly, love the little martial arts that Wade incorporated. Jaimie as the flower! To semi-quote Nigel, to go from that plie on demi-pointe and into developpe was just awesome. The control that took! Sigh, LOVE this program, LOVE this team! Love Wade!!!
2. Sabra and Dominic - This team never ceases to amaze me. Sabra is just gorgeous and I still can't believe she's only been dancing for 4 years! (There's still hope for me. XD) Dominic framed her beautifully. I can't believe this B-boy was able to have that kind of posture and line. Great performance and yes, sensual!
3. Lacey and Kameron - They're my "oh they make a good couple I hope they marry and have kids someday." XD And it looks like they're heading in that direction going by Kameron kissing Lacey's cheek at the end of their dance. Sooo cute! Quickstep is usually one of the hardest ballroom dances and they did it splendidly.
4. Sara and Jesus - I like how this Krumping was choreographed. It's not like the chaos that was featured last season, this has more substance and is closer to hip hop. Love both of them, Jesus was able to hold his own with Sara. Also they got the attitude but still it was fun to watch!
5. Anya and Danny - (really tied with 4th) I was worried about how they'll, but they pulled it off! It was actually a classy hip hop if that makes sense. I don't usually like Dan Karaty's choreography, but this definitely is the best one he's done. That and he got great dancers in Anya and Danny.
6. Pasha - Man I so wanted to see him dance this with Jessie! They would have brought the house down in the hotness factor. The good thing is, it's his style, the other good thing, Melanie Lapatin is an American Latin Ballroom champ along with Tony Meredith (I used to watch them when they were pros) so you know she can dance the cha-cha blindfolded. The chemistry is the only thing that was lacking. But that's expected because well, it's not Jessie, I miss Jessie!
7. Lauren and Neil - Sorry, didn't feel them at all this week. I kept thinking back to Ivan and Allison last season where they did a sizzling tango. Lauren can't do sizzle and I thought both of them were stiff.
8. Shauna and Cedric- Send them home. Well send Cedric home, ugh, Mia must have been really in a bad mood to shove Cedric to the back of the stage and cry for half of the program. And really that long interchange between the judges and Cedric wasn't necessary. It's great that Cedric can join Debbie Allen's school, but really, that could have been done after the show. Unless they really wanted to signal to America not to vote for him out of pity 'cause he'll do fine after. :/

Agree! Cedric wasn't great. And I had to sit and watch him argue with the judges and explain his reasons. x[
EDIT: Oh no! Cedric and Shauna weren't in the bottom! You see, ow they had to send Jesus out, because Cedric wasn't in the choices. :(

AAAAAAAAARGH!!! It's official, Cedric is SYTYCD's version of Sanjaya! He has slain another top of the line dancer (Jesus who I love!) and I blame the judges totally! They had to give him 15 minutes to make his case? So so so so annoyed with the judges and the producers right now. I didn't even find his words inspirational, more like pandering so the audience can give him pity votes. And he got it!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! It's Mia's fault, she should have voted him out when she had the chance. Now she knows how awful he truly is and she can't do anything because Cedric's probably on Vote for the Worst now and will stick around for the top 10. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!
Man I'm also upset with the elimination of Jessi! So so so not right. I'm sorry, but Lauren should have gone. Nigel's like "you spent 15 seconds walking and taking off your jacket, out of 30 seconds" but she gets to stay after a horrible tango? Wrong! She's getting by due to favoritism 'cause IMO she's the weakest dancer among the women there. Last night's results totally was upsetting!
To quote Nigel : "5 million people voted, and 5 million people got it wrong"!!!
I don't blame Danny for laughing his head off when he found out he was in the bottom 3 ... quite frankly, I was laughing myself silly too. Jeez ... I really didn't know there were so many sympathetic people out there!? You have a guy here who obviously needs training, and not fit to continue on with the competition, and for some odd reason he is kept alive, and we now have to put up with more of his amateurish performances ... an eyesore really, and I find it insulting to the other dancers when he is classified in the same league as everyone else. I'm sorry to say this, but he needs alot of improvements before he can be in the likes of Danny or Kameron ... even compared to Dominic ... a B-boy ... he is no where near what Dom can do.
Do not agree on the parting of Jessi as well!!! If based on the 30 seconds performance, she was not the worst one there, Lauren was ... there were hardly any dancing, and seemed more like a last minute panicky routine than anything else. Even if we were to base the decision on past performances, Jessi did a much better job with her previous 2 routines, and did they even take into consideration the Cha-Cha she did with Pasha ON the results show??? Either I'm really blind, or the judges all have really short termed memories ... Jessi did a much better job at the Cha-Cha than Lauren's Tango.
I hope both voters and judges come to their senses before the next show!!!

I know! That's so terrible.
5 million people voted, and 5 million people got it wrong. The judges voted wrong too, Nigel. OPEN YOUR EYES!
For some reason, I thought Danny was crying. But really, I would expect that if you get stuck in the Bottom 3 instead of a certain other pair, which pretty much only one side of the pair did great. Sigh. I'm kinda pissed at the decisions, though. I just hope there isn't another Sanjaya-type revolution in SYTYCD3 here.

3rd season??? In Greece this show starts before one year.
@lch3mizt .... do you mean they're only showing the 1st season now? Coz' we're on the 3rd season here in North America.
:yay The show is baaaack ^^
Benji can choreograph!!! Me wants more of Benji :D
That routine was so much fun to watch, and so innovative!!! It's like watching space aged Swing ... it was awesome!!!!
There’s also Wade Robson's crazy routine!!! It was hilarious ... the part where Neil was chasing after Lauren, and the slaps and kick from Lauren, It was so playful ... and and ... anyone else thinks Neil looks a wee bit like Boy George? :p
Danny is such a graceful dancer ... I've never had the impression that he is in any way arrogant! I see a lot of confidence in how he carries himself, maybe that's what makes him seem arrogant? I think he's calm and collective, which goes along in the confidence department, but maybe you guys see it a different way? I can't believe there are people who don’t notice his grace on stage ... he's like an unattainable prince from a dream!!! This might be contributing to his downfall though ... unattainable = unapproachable ... *sigh* .... The song they danced to is awesome ... that little guitar solo in the middle was sweet.
I still love Dominic ... there is just something about him that draws me in ... I think he dance with sensuality. Shane's routine has some really sweet moments in it .... And Sabra!!! Strong girl to be able to pull off that little stunt with Dominic ( I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about :p )
Hok and Jaimie ..... I was frowning when I heard they're doing yet another ... Ballroom dance!!! Good lord NO!!!! Don't ever pick ballroom again Hok ... I still notice he doesn't know what to do with his 'free' hand >.<
I actually wished that Danny and Anya were the ones dancing this, it would have been something that came out from a fairytale. As the judges said : Hok is too grounded!!! Danny floats!!!
Ah ... lastly .... Cedric .... you know what? I'm shocked!!! I actually enjoyed watching him dance this week, it was quirky and actually sexy !!! I am shocked!!! I take back what I said about him being an eyesore!!! Clearly he can do well when the style and choreography fits him!!! I am not saying he's going to last, but I am glad he's not as bad as I thought he was ...

Lulz, now I really can't wait for the episode to show! :yay
Yes, they got Cedric out. Although he was pretty good during his performance, he wasn't that strong before, and isn't that great with partners. And have you noticed that he does the same thing? He's boneless. XD Shauna's out too, but if I look at the bottom three girls, I think that's what I would've picked too, between her, Jaimie and Anya.
So... Anya and Danny are in the bottom again. Maybe because everyone likes them so much that they want to see them FFTL. But Anya isn't that strong with her solos, so they should be careful.
Oh, and I loved Dominic and Sabra. That little raise you and hold you move was so sweet. And who knew Sabra was in HSM? Not me, especially when she wears a beanie that covers her hair.
Hok and Jaimie was okay, but it wasn't all that great, because I don't think Hok fits well with the ballroom dancing stints.
Oh! Pasha and Sara. I really liked their performance. It's so lively, and Benji did a really good job. It was funny while watching, because my dad was really amazed at the double cartwheel they did. I think I like this new team. LOL, Pasha looks so silly when trying to act 'cool'. <3
Lacey and Kameron was pretty good as always. I kinda forgot about them by the end of the show, because they were first, but I thought they were good. But Nigel and co. is right, Kameron seems like the prop. But he lead good.
... who am I missing? Oh! The devil and the innocent angel performance by Lauren and Neil. I liked it. Wade Robson's choreography is something I like looking forward to in SYTYCD. I love his style.
... I guess I got everyone?
And you know, Hilary Duff sounded 100x better than Fergie. D:

Yes, finally, let the real dancing commence!!! Cedric is finally GONE! GONE! GONE! Though he should have gone 4 weeks ago in my opinion. I still don't see anything amazing about his solo dancing. No choreography in it whatsoever. Anyway, glad the judges didn't even bother talking to Hok and Danny. Nigel probably thought, good riddance. BTW, I have to add that I thought they were praising him and Shauna's Mambo non-stop because they were using reverse psychology. Worked as people didn't vote for them 'cause no pity vote this time. Though it still grated my ear to hear them praise Cedric like that, 'cause the Mambo he danced with Shauna was just plain awful AND MISTAKE-filled (couldn't maintain their turns), yet they didn't point that out. Bums! Anyway, so glad he and Shauna are gone. They were the weakest link.
Regarding Anya and Danny, I think people just don't want to vote for them because they just want to see Danny's solos! I so love his leaps and his spins, and his hands, and his extensions and EVERYTHING! I do enjoy their dancing together though because they are pretty much consummate professionals. I like their program because I enjoyed Danny more than anything. XD
Hok and Jamie's waltz definitely left something to be desired especially considering Jessi and Pasha did a gorgeous one a couple of weeks ago. It's strange that the choreographer didn't incorporate more closed hold position steps because people know the waltz more for that. I think Hok would have been able to handle it. I do think Hok should let go a little more when dancing ballroom. You can see his nervousness sometimes. But when he is in his element in his solos, he can't be beat. He should bring the same level of energy he has in those solos to his ballroom dances, like Dominic does with his.
Dominic and Sabra are becoming the couple to beat! Loved their Hip Hop, love that Shane had them tell a story. They really do have great chemistry together and just interpret the music so well. I wonder how they will do though if they get waltz or quick step. I bet they will do well in that too. Sabra is just an overall graceful dancer who can dance anything and Dominic is proving to be a very versatile dancer as well. It will be fun to see him hold his frame in a waltz though. Props to both of them!
Pasha and Sarah and their West Coast Swing had me totally wanting to dance with them. The choreography was so Benji! So glad he's back and hired as a choreographer (along with Heidi). He's definitely a keeper! Great dancer, choreographer, and also personality! Anyway, love how Pasha was able to be goofy and act like Benji for the dance. It came off as natural and believable. Sarah surprises me every week because she can do anything. Overall a totally fun dance and my fave next to the hip hop.
Lauren and Neil, oy, I really just enjoyed Neil in that one. I think he makes that pairing because Lauren isn't a particular strong dancer IMO. She's the weakest among the ladies at this point. Great concept and well executed, but not one of my fave Wade Robson pieces. And yeah, Neil did look a little like Boy George (when he was young, pretty and thin XD).
Goodness, I almost forgot Lacey and Kameron! Love that they got Kameron doing some spins and a little gymnastics at the beginning. Anyway, love the Hustle they did. Didn't know that it can be as intricate as the Mambo when it comes to hand holds and changes. Very fun dance. I think Kameron is an excellent partner to Lacey and I think they balance each other off.
BTW, is it me or are there whiffs of romance in the air between a few couples. XD
Yaaay :yay ~ finally, I've been waiting to read your post ^^
hah hah .... I knew you'd be happy to see Cedric gone :p
I'm not a fan of his, but to let him go now makes me a bit sad, since they gave up 2 good dancers to keep him in the show ... to let him go now is such a waste :( .... I thought the Mambo was pretty good :headscratch ? It's not because of what the judges said about the dance afterwards, but it was more or less because Cedric was relaxed when he was dancing, and I didn't feel any pressure as a spectator watching ( as opposed to Hok's Waltz which made me frown!!! ) ... but yeah ... enough of Cedric :p
hmmm ... if people don't vote for Anya and Danny just because they want to see Danny's solo, then I'm very worried >.< .... god forbids the bottom 3 guys end up being Danny, Hok and Dominic!!! Doesn't matter who they let go here ... I'd be shattered!!!
Pasha Pasha ... he's full of surprises, I love his goofiness ( the one thing Danny lacks!!! ) Can you imagine Anya and Danny with the Benji routine? Or the Wade Robson routine? Honestly I really cannot see Danny being playful and funny on or off stage :( Perhaps what Nigel should have said about Danny was : he lacks humour? I felt that Danny did his solo without a shirt on was somehow due to Nigel's comment about him needing to draw the audience in .... not that I'm complaining about having some eye candy, but he didn't need to do that >.<
hah hah ... you almost forgot about Lacey and Kameron ... I completely forgot about them :( .... That routine didn't leave any impression on me at all, especially since they were 1st on the programme ... I remember more of the Mambo than the Hustle ... I feel so bad saying that :(
Just a whiff of romance???? I've noticed that little whiff 2 weeks ago ... *cough* Sabra + Dominic *cough* :p
Do you do dancing Nocturne? You're very insightful when it comes to dancing techniques, where as I pay more attention to stage presence and overall performance. I don't dance, therefore I cannot tell if they're doin' anything wrong :p

Sorry for not replying right away, Jaws, but I got busy at work so I couldn't respond on Friday afternoon then I had a busy weekend relaxing in the sun (and getting a bad sunburn in the process :o) away from internet access. Anyway, here I go.
hah hah .... I knew you'd be happy to see Cedric gone :p

Okay I'll give Cedric props for actually finally doing a better job than he ever did in his 3 previous programs. Mambo is a very hard dance to learn and he was able to at least get into it and not hold back because he really wanted to show that he can learn and progress. And he did. However, compared to previous Mambos (the incomparable Benji and Heidi from last year, and even B-boy Ryan in the first season with his partner whose name escapes me at the moment) it wasn't good enough. I know I shouldn't compare, but can't help it. The judges I felt sometimes would praise him up to his standard, or what he can do and not in everyone elses level which is way above him. Eh, I don't know if I'm making sense, but like you said, enough about Cedric! So glad he's gone! Woo!!!:yay
hmmm ... if people don't vote for Anya and Danny just because they want to see Danny's solo, then I'm very worried >.< .... god forbids the bottom 3 guys end up being Danny, Hok and Dominic!!! Doesn't matter who they let go here ... I'd be shattered!!!
Well, the one about seeing Danny's solo is more of a wacky theory on my part. :p However, regarding having the bottom three as Danny, Hok, and Dominic, it will definitely be a hard choice for the judges no matter what happens. Eventually it will come to that. I just hope that doesn't happen until after weaker dancers like Neil gets taken out first. Seriously I'd pull my hair out myself 'cause I wouldn't know who to choose either as I love Danny, Hok, and Dominic.
I totally agree about what you said with Danny lacking humour...or maybe it doesn't come across when he dances. He does have some funny moments in the interviews or rehearsals. He can have fun as one can tell from the Jive he and Anya first danced. I do wonder if Danny and Anya can pull off a comedic routine. I bet they can, but people may think it not as believable with Danny as it was with Pasha. And yeah, no complaints from me about him without his shirt on. It should be mandatory for hot guys to dance without their shirt on, call it the Dimitri rule or something. XD
hah hah ... you almost forgot about Lacey and Kameron ... I completely forgot about them :( .... That routine didn't leave any impression on me at all, especially since they were 1st on the programme ... I remember more of the Mambo than the Hustle ... I feel so bad saying that :(
Actually when I first posted my review, I originally said "Did I forget anyone?" before I looked back at the previous posts looking for names and then I saw Lacey and Kameron and went, "D'oh" with a slap to my forehead. It's strange though because they're one of my fave couples and for me to forget them is wild. Maybe because I wanted to forget the "Do the Hustle" song that's currently now stuck in my head. I did enjoy their dance though. The Mambo was memorable because I wanted so much for Cedric to just go that I was looking for every mistake I could. I know I'm mean, but he took the place of several dancers that should have still been there if not for the judges stupidity.
Just a whiff of romance???? I've noticed that little whiff 2 weeks ago ... *cough* Sabra + Dominic *cough* :p
LOL, not only Sabra/Dominic, but Lacey/Kameron as well. Nigel pretty much outed them a couple of weeks back by saying Kameron was going to introduce himself to Lacey's dad and propose, etc. To which Lacey's dad (who was in the audience) mouthed "I have a gun" and made a hand gesture indicating as much. XD Kameron also sneaked a kiss on the cheek after the previous week's Quick Step program. Both Sabra/Dominic as well as Lacey/Kameron make cute couples. On another note, had Jessi stayed, I wonder if things between her and Pasha would have gotten hot and heavy as she did declare on air that she wished he was her boyfriend. :D
Do you do dancing Nocturne? You're very insightful when it comes to dancing techniques, where as I pay more attention to stage presence and overall performance. I don't dance, therefore I cannot tell if they're doin' anything wrong :p
I'm more a frustrated dancer more than anything, as I've always wanted to take ballet when I was a kid, but couldn't afford lessons. But I have performed in a Filipino dance troupe but that was when I was in HS which was ages ago. I will be going ballroom dancing every other Fridays starting either this week or next. I'm just a huge dance fan and totally love dance in all its forms. Gene Kelly is one of my heroes, love watching old musicals in the 50's because of all the dancing. I think there's just so much freedom in dance that's why I love it!
@ Griffith : Yeah, Shauna is a good dancer, especially her solo. Perhaps it was unfortunate she was paired with Cedric, and thus wasn't able to show her full potential :(
@ Nocturne : That's quite alright ... I have a fulltime job too, so I know how it is when things get crazy at work :p
hmm ... it's never too late to take lesson if you really want to, even for ballet. So, if you really like dancing, I say go for it :)
For some reason I keep forgetting Lacey and Kameron ^^;
Yes .... hah hah there might be something goin' on there too :p
Jessi and Pasha I think is a one sided thing, Jessi might have been all puppy-eyed, but I don't think Pasha feels the same ... but it was pretty obvious on Jessi's part though :(
It should be mandatory for hot guys to dance without their shirt on, call it the Dimitri rule or something. XD
hah hah ... yeah!!! I'll vote for that :D

Just watched the results! Disappointed!!! You know, this season is leaving me more disappointed than last season. Maybe because last season it was easier to get rid of dancers because you can really see who was weaker. No doubt that this season the dancers are better, but man, the judges have been ruining my enjoyment every week. First they keep a dancer like Cedric and went on and on about his uniqueness. They let go of better dancers in favor of him. Now they say that Hok is unique, but he goes home? Come on, people will want to see him in the tour not Neil. Neil is pretty much a poor man's version of Danny in terms of technique. His personality isn't half as captivating as Hok.
In my opionion, it's the choreographer who is more at fault than Hok. He should know the dancer's strength and use it. Wade totally did that with Hok in the masterpiece of a program he created where Hok played a humming bird to Jamie's flower. Tyce's broadway choreography was weak, IMO. Why didn't he incorporate more moves that will show Hok starting off as an old man? And of all the broadway plays he could have used, why something as old and unknown to the younger generation as Mr. Bojangles? I didn't even know it was a musical 'cause all I remember was Sammy Davis Jr. singing it. Lots of Broadway out there with dance, Movin' Out is practically all dance. Or even A Chorus Line. Or CATs! That would have been lovely and Hok would make one spectacular cat. Well, no use complaining about it as Hok is gone.
As for the ladies, man I wish it was Lauren who was let go. You can see the favoritism totally from Nigel. Where's the fairness in that? I thought that Anya's performances in all her programs were more consistent and well executed compared to Lauren's. She practically disappeared beneath Neil's shadow (and he doesn't cast a long one compared to the other guys). It was made even more obvious when Mia decided to make both Neil and Lauren be almost mirror images of each other. You can tell who the better dancer was. In fact, Lauren was really just a poor copy/prop to Neil in that program. And her solo wasn't anything to write home about compared to Jaimies.
BTW, I know I should have posted my reviews earlier, Jaws, but been busy again at work. Also yesterday's performance were just "blah" to me. No program really stood out. Maybe it's because Wade Robson was in the judges table instead of creating another genius program. He did make a good judge though, his critiques were spot on.
I did like Danny and Anya's fox trot. Did you see Danny's split jump at the beginning of the program? My dream is to be able to do that someday. XD Just absolutely gorgeous. Danny practically floats in the air every time he leaps. So much control! And Anya as always beautiful and graceful as ever even with a bum ankle. I'm going to miss Anya! She should have stayed, dang it!
Anyway, I'll post more reviews of the other programs I liked tomorrow. Still grumbling about tonight's results.
This has got to be the crappiest week ever ( if not the entire show history!!! ) T_T
First the performance show on wednesday ... I don't think there was a single routine that really stood out for me. I actually have no idea what the judges were praising about most of the time  .... lack of things to say maybe? Choreography wise, I'd rate all of them a mere average. There were only 2 routines I managed to watch in their entirety, and that's Sara & Pasha's Jazz and Anya & Danny's Foxtrot. I can also say I only enjoyed watching these 2 routines because of the dancers ... not the choreography itself. I know how much people loved the idea of Jessi & Pasha, but seriously I think Sara is a much better partner for Pasha than Jessi was. Sara is spunky and bright, just make everything she dances to very upbeat and lively, and I think her spunkiness infects Pasha too :p
For Anya & Danny ... do I even have to say anything here? They should just become ballroom partners forever and ever :p They always look a class above everyone else when they dance anything ballroom ... The Foxtrot on wednesday was elegant, and full of grace. They just draw your attention, like a princess and prince dancing high in the clouds. I wish I can shrink those 2 into miniature dancing dolls, and store them in a special musical box ... and I can open up the box anytime to see them dance XD
Now for the result show .... I am actually not surprised at who ended up in the bottom 3. Anya & Danny's performance was superb, but I don't think it appeals to the vast majority of audiences. I can also understand why the judges decided to let Anya go, her solo is not something to brag about, and I'm not sure she will be able to improve in the few coming weeks. It is unfortunate reality, and I will miss her ballroom expertise on stage :(
For Hok ... comparing him to Neil, I'm really not sure who is better to tell you the truth. Looking back at all their performances, both of them had done some pretty awesome stuff, and some not so hot performances too. Overall, I think Hok flopped just a little bit more in the ballroom area to have a 'not as good a dancer as Neil' image in people's mind. There is also last week's Wade Robson routine which I think played a part in helping Neil and Lauren stay in the top 10. Hok and Jaimie did an awesome Jazz routine, but that was weeks ago, and to be honest, that was the only good performance by Hok. When you look at Neil, all his performances are not fantastic ( except the Wade Robson routine ), but he managed to do a decent job of most styles, and he definitely does a much better job at ballroom than Hok. Yes, Hok is popular, and as much as I want him to remain in the competition, I don't think he is good enough to actually win it. That being said, I am really starting to worry about Danny now, if he still doesn't get the votes he should be getting, I'm pretty sure he's next in line to be eliminated :(
Nocturne : If you're dancing tonight, just imagine the hands you're holding are Danny's magical hands XD

Nocturne : If you're dancing tonight, just imagine the hands you're holding are Danny's magical hands XD
Sigh, I wish! BTW, I didn't get to dance 'cause my sister's kid was sick and so none of us went. It's okay though 'cause I didn't get my ballroom dancing shoes yet. That said, I want Lacey's shoes from her performance yesterday!!!:inlove LOL, love shoes!
Here's my review for yesterday's show:
First of all, what the hell was Cat Deeley wearing? That dress did not flatter her at all. Actually, they need to change the stylist who's been dressing her 'cause the dresses she's been wearing are like straight out of Barbie doll collection from the '80's. XD
On to the dancing. Interesting concept of having the top ten do the same dance choreographed by Wade Robson. Really nice to do a comparison. It would be cool if they had a split screen of all 10 dancers doing the same thing. I think the only time they did a little improv was after they screamed. I'll post who my faves were in that category later. On to the couples:
1. Lauren and Pasha - Hip Hop - Great choreography from Shane, do love the Transformer moves at the beginning (yeah, that's what it reminded me off and it was cool to see Nigel think the same). I still can't stand Lauren, but this was her best performance. Pasha definitely held his own, best ballroom dancer turned hip hop performer that's for sure.
2. Sabra and Kameron - Contemporary - Ok, wow, never thought I'd hear Amazing Grace sung by Crystal Lewis with the dancers actually doing a bit of Worship dance on SYTYCD. Whoa! Good to see Donyelle from last season help Tyce out. Anyway, enjoyed the choreography. I do agree with the judges that they didn't have chemistry. It's because both of them were dancing on different emotional levels so they couldn't connect. Sabra totally brings the dance to life, she does get it and she knew how to emote it. Kameron, not so much, but I don't think he was as bad as the judges said he was. Didn't look amateurish, not as polished maybe but not amateurish. He is definitely a stable partner though especially when it comes to lifts. Sabra had nothing to fear with him as her partner. That said, I agree with Mia regarding Sabra, she is my fave female dancer as well.
3. Lacey and Danny (or Dancey XD) - Samba - Yey, my fave ballroom dance in the latin division! It's cool to see Dmitri also back to choreograph with Heidi to help out. Enjoyed the choreography, but I think Dmitri could have added a little more partnering moves, such as the Samba rolls, I LOVE Samba rolls. I think Lacey and Danny could have been able to handle that move, especially since Lacey was Youth Latin Champion and Danny can just dance anything! It was a sexy dance and both dancers conveyed the spirit of the Samba well. Again, I love Lacey's shoes. XD
4. Jamie and Dominic - Viennese Waltz - Wow, okay this waltz made the one Hok and Jamie danced to a couple of weeks ago positively great in comparison. Just what the heck was the choreographer thinking to add a Spanish flavor to an Austrian dance? Just didn't work at all! I didn't see a waltz, it was more of a Paso Doble and it was just so wrong. There were hardly any partnering moves, you didn't see either dancer hold a proper frame for the Waltz and gah, it was just ghastly!!! No rise and lows, no smooth gliding of the feet accross the floor. It was all choppy and a mess. Dominic was just over the top and Jamie disappeared in her yellow skirt. I wouldn't be surprised if both were voted off. And I love Dominic, but man, that wasn't his night!
5. Sara and Neil - Disco - Man oh man what a dance and I'm not usually a fan of Disco. As Nigel said, when Disco is done right, you can't help but love it. I've always liked how Doriana Sanchez choreographed and that was one fun number she made. You can tell Sara and Neil totally had a blast doing it. Neil's opening roundoff to back handspring layout with legs split in the air was just so awesome! Sara continues to amaze me with her versatility. To think this B-girl can pull off sexy fun. She did almost have a wardrobe malfunction. XD Anyway, this was my fave dance along with the Samba.
How I would rank them:
1. Sara and Neil
2. Lacey and Danny
3. Sabra and Kameron
4. Lauren and Pasha
5. Jamie and Dominic
As for the solos, I'm just going to mention my faves. Goes without saying, Danny is my number 1. He melted into every move. He dances like butter! Sabra is my number 2 'cause she dances with every fiber of her being! Sara was my third, love the emotion. Same goes for Pasha, again for a ballroom dancer, he really has been showing he can dance anything. The others were just alright. Dominic did fall in his solo, totally not his night and he knows it.
Who may go home based on performances? Dominic for the guys. For the girls, much as I want Lauren to go home, it may end up being Jamie.

Wow Nocturne has awesome analysis lol.
I'm personally rooting for Lacey and Lauren, I find them adorably hot :love , and I like what they have shown this week.
@ Nocturne : Awww .... that's too bad, I do hope you get to dance soon :)
Oh ... and good luck with finding those dancing shoes. We have another thing in common : Shoes :love
hah hah ... I love Cat to death, and she is the only person in the world who can pull off those 80s Barbie drapes :D At first glance of the dress she was wearing last night, I thought ... Wow ... that blue looks gorgeous on her, then I saw the entire dress and thought ... where did her awesome figure go :headscratch ... yes, show in need of new stylist :p
On to the show :
1. Lauren and Pasha - Hip Hop
Ah! Shane has always been one of my fav' choreographers :love
I had no idea the opening moves were Transformer related ( yet to watch the movie :( ), but it was clearly robotic (I actually thought it was a robotic spider :p). Both Lauren & Pasha did really good with this routine, and I'm very pleased with Pasha, his moves were packed with power.
2. Sabra and Kameron - Contemporary
That was the best 'Amazing Grace' rendition I've ever heard, and Sabra stole the show with this one. If she had worn wings on her back, she would have been the perfect angel from heaven. I don't think Kameron did bad at all, but he is paired with Sabra, and people are going to compare. With an emotional piece like 'Amazing Grace', I'm not sure if anyone else could have done any better than Kameron, he is actually quite balanced ... as in he has a bit of both the emotional AND technical aspect of a dancer. If Danny were to dance this routine, I'm sure his technical abilities will show really nicely, but I'll be very skeptical about him portraying any sort of emotion. Dominic might be able to pull off the emotional part, but he's lacking in the technique department. So, to me Kameron wasn't the best, but he certainly did well.
3. Lacey and Danny (or Dancey XD) - Samba
:p Dancey :p ... does have a nice ring to it, and their number was hot!!! It is so nice to see familiar faces from last season playing a big part in this season's competition, possibly more in the future. A very modern Samba by Dimitri, can't say I really really liked it, as I think he could have incorporated more techniques into the routine ( maybe he himself lack it XD ) ... but it was enjoyable nontheless.
4. Jamie and Dominic - Viennese Waltz
Ho boy!!! Where to begin with this one .... *sigh* Don't think it's the dancers' fault, blame the choreographer :( The only good thing that came out of this was I had a really good laugh throughout the entire routine!!! What was it that Nigel said? A Mr. Bean moment was it? The whole routine looked like something that came out from a dance scene in a really bad Mexican movie. Not a sign of the graceful Waltz anywhere, it wasn't even a true Waltz beat to dance to ... very dissapointed that we are actually seeing such horrid choreography at this level of the competition ... not good at all :(
5. Sara and Neil - Disco
You know ... I have never liked Disco!!! This is the first time I actually enjoyed a disco routine!!! Neil's explosive entry was captivating, it is definitely a plus when you can show other abilities in your dance. They kept up with the pace, it was energetic, it was fun, and awesome chemistry between Sara and Neil. They were having so much fun together, it contaminates the audience. I think if Sara wasn't trying so hard to pull her dress together I wouldn't have noticed the malfunction :D
I am not so sure I like the idea of everyone doing the same solo, maybe if they had improvised it a bit more!? It would have been better if they were given a theme which they have to incorporate into their own solo. It lacks originality when everyone just dance to the same song, and same style. Last night's theme was about anti-war, it would have been alot more interesting to see how the dancers relay the message in their own style ...
My favourite routine from last night : Disco :rofl
Based on performance alone, I also think Jaimie and Dominic are in danger tonight. Then again, this is more or less a popularity show, and people are going to vote for their favourite dancer, that doesn't always mean best dancer ( fortunately or unfortunately ) ... can't say I'm looking forward to the result show tonight, have an uneasy feeling I might not like the result :(

Wow Nocturne has awesome analysis lol.
I'm personally rooting for Lacey and Lauren, I find them adorably hot :love , and I like what they have shown this week.
Thanks Griffith! Jaws does an awesome analysis as well and she covers a lot of performance aspects that I miss so I have to watch the dances over again and say, she's right. XD This thread's been fun for us SYTYCD junkies!
We have another thing in common : Shoes :love
LOL, shoes rock! Can never have enough shoes. XD As for Cat, I agree, she is the only person who can pull off the 80's prom look. How did you like her dress at the results show? The hem's all shredded and the color washes her out. Bold colors work better for her. Oh but the hair! A garden grew out of it. What was the hair stylist thinking to tuck a rose bush on her head? XD But as a host, Cat Deeley is awesome! I love how she says "Jehjees" :D
As for the results show, LOVE the opening dance choreographed by Mia Michaels. But that's mainly because Danny was front and center, shirtless and showing a whole lot of leg! Dang, that's how he should be dancing all the time, mostly naked! :inlove I don't think I remember much else of the dance 'cause I was too focused on him. XD
And how about Mia and Nigel apologizing for 10 minutes about offending the armed forces. Either families of troops called in or even the troops themselves called in. My brother-in-law who was in the Navy said that Marines are very particular when it comes to their uniforms. I had to rewatch the Wednesday program again to see what patch they were talking about that was upside down and you don't notice it until Mia raises her arm 'cause the patch is right on the cuffs of the sleeve area.
Finally the bottom 4 were revealed and they were Jamie, and Lauren for the ladies and Dominic and Kameron for the men. I was right about the ladies, but didn't think Kameron would be in the bottom for the men. I thought he was popular and that would keep him safe. The only solo from last night that I really liked was Dominics! His headspin was sick! And he maintained it for so long! For that alone he deserved to stay and I'm glad he did. But he needs to tone down the cartoony expressions and work hard 'cause he's up against an expert ballroom dancer in Pasha, a Master class dancer in Danny, and Neil whose come out of his shell. I'm going to miss Kameron though. I agree that he is a balanced dancer in that he's got performance and technique. Unfortunately, he was always overshadowed by Lacey and on Wednesday by Sabra.
With the ladies, not so impressed with their solos, but found Jamie's better than Lauren's. Better, but a little forgettable. With Lauren, she totally did not interpret her music at all. Maybe it would have worked if she chose a different song. She danced to "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe, a song about what a person would do when he/she meets Jesus. She should have made like Sabra and did a little worship dance. Instead she ran around on stage and touched herself in parts. Her facial expressions also didn't match the music. It was just odd. She really should have picked a different song. But she has nothing to worry about as she's safe.
Highlight of the night, Danny mostly naked and also him doing a fan kick the moment he found out he was safe! Just love his reaction!
In retrospect, I do agree. It does get tiring to watch the same thing over and over. Even Nigel admitted as much yesterday, about being bored after the fifth solo. I think your idea of the dancers incorporating more of their moves would have added to the solo. Mia Michaels had mentioned it in the Wednesday show that she wished the dancers made the solo their own, interpret it their own way instead of just following Wade's choreography step by step. Now it makes me wonder if they are going to have solos like this again next week. Do you recall when the pairs actually do two dances in an episode from last season? Maybe it was the top 3 pairs...
How did you like her dress at the results show? The hem's all shredded and the color washes her out. Bold colors work better for her. Oh but the hair! A garden grew out of it. What was the hair stylist thinking to tuck a rose bush on her head? XD But as a host, Cat Deeley is awesome! I love how she says "Jehjees"
Greek goddess? Flower fairy? Put an apron on and she'll be the prettiest milk maid in town? :D .... At least the dress was better than the night before, but I die laughing with that whole silly garden on her head :rotflmao
Ooooh ... she's miles apart from the first hostess they had for the 1st season ( I don't even remember her name ), I'll even admit that I became a SYTYCD junkie partly because of Cat, she is such a charming little kitten :p
LOVE the opening dance choreographed by Mia Michaels. But that's mainly because Danny was front and center, shirtless and showing a whole lot of leg! Dang, that's how he should be dancing all the time, mostly naked!
I second that vote ... no wait ... I second, third and fourth vote that!!! There should be a rule against Danny putting clothes on :nuts You're not the only one whose eyes won't stray away from Danny last night :p I was watching the number, and this funny thought kept bugging me : With that outfit, the only thing missing is a Katana ... and he'll make one sexy Shinigami XD
Finally the bottom 4 were revealed and they were Jamie, and Lauren for the ladies and Dominic and Kameron for the men. I was right about the ladies, but didn't think Kameron would be in the bottom for the men. I thought he was popular and that would keep him safe. With Lauren .... she has nothing to worry about as she's safe.
I was so sure Danny would be in the bottom 2 guys ... that's why I had this uneasy feeling before. You can imagine how happy I am now ... more Danny next week :D Not surprised about Jaimie being eliminated, she is a good dancer, but so is everyone else, and some are better than good. I've said it once, and I'm going to say it again : This IS a popularity contest, and they need to stand out with something other than dance skills. It is a major reason why Dominic is still in the running (he's playful & corky), and Kameron (personality does not stand out) is gone. Lauren might be saved last night, but that doesn't mean she is out of danger for next week, so she actually has alot to worry about.
Now it makes me wonder if they are going to have solos like this again next week. Do you recall when the pairs actually do two dances in an episode from last season? Maybe it was the top 3 pairs...
I definitely do not want to see repetitive solos again ... this week's routine was choreographed by the great Wade Robson, imagine if we have to watch a Dan Karaty routine 8 times ...
I don't quite remember when they start doing more than 1 dance with the pairs .... it's either in the top 3 or 4 pairs, but I will find out and edit my post later.
Any predictions on who will make up the top 2 pairs this year? I'm hoping Danny and Pasha for the guys, but pretty sure the girls will be Sabra and Lacey.
*EDIT* - Checked the recap on Fox.com, they actually had each pair do 2 dances right from the top 10 dancers (top 5 pairs) last season. My guess is they'll most likely start doing that next week with the top 8 dancers (top 4 pairs) this season.

Thanks Jaws for finding out about when the pairs were given 2 dances last season. And you're right, the final 4 pairs got to dance 2 dances last night which is just great for us! So much for their experimental solos of last week. I do have to hand it to the producers of the show, they seem to be proactive when it comes to addressing audience complaints. I'm sure Nigel realized he wasn't the only one bored after the fifth dance. No doubt they read the message board in their site. XD
Before I go on to review last night's performances, just have to add a few odds and ends. Cat Deeley looked lovely last night, her hair and dress were fab! The jehjees were also in fine form! I adore Adam Shankman and love that they brought him back to judge because he totally knows what he's talking about. He's also *beeping* hysterical! XD Okay, on to the show!
Sara & Danny
Argentine Tango - First of all I totally love Argentine tango! So much more intricate and more passionate that the rigid ballroom tango. Sara and Danny did not disappoint. Sizzling performance and well executed. Danny, I'm running out of superlatives for this guy! Just ridiculous his center is. I loved that Nigel counted the revolutions of his spins (or pirouettes, never liked spelling that so I'm sticking with spins. XD) and he did 7 and 8 respectively for each spin. That's sick! Sara was working it with her long boots. Again, made it look like she's been dancing this style for years, no B-girl in sight at all. I was nervous about that pretzel move lift near the end 'cause she could have easily gotten tangled up, but she did it with no problem. Enjoyed their performance over all. Also, Alex Da Silva's choreography top notch as always, but I think he could have even made the steps more intricate.
Hip-Hop - Man oh man, after a spectacular Argentine tango, what a let down from Danny and Sara but it wasn't totally all their fault. Totally my least favorite Shane Spark's choreography of the season. I know it's old school, but eh, didn't work for me. First of all, the costumes! What where the show's stylist thinking! That's an example of the costumes owning the dancers instead of the other way around. It was so distracting I couldn't focus on the dance. It was alright at the beginning, but near the end the dance unraveled because both Sara and Danny were totally out of sync. This may put them in the bottom 3 tonight...is it bottom 3 or 2 now?
Lauren & Dominic
Krump - Okay, IMO this was more hip hop than Krump as it's not as hard hitting, chest bumping like the Krumps of last season. That said, Lauren seemed like she was trying too hard to look tough, but could have toned it down a little. Her movements also were more frantic compared to Dominic's hard hitting and controlled movements. I think she also was dancing ahead of the music, but I have to watch again to see. It was an alright performance, but nothing really mind-blowing.
Rumba - Just did not do it for me! In Rumba, the lady is supposed to ooze sexy in her movements. Lauren looked good in her outfit, but her dancing left more to be desired. She was too stiff around the knees where she needed to be softer and overall grounded. She also lacked the hip movements that in Rumba would have been highlighted because it’s such a slow dance. Dominic actually had better hip movements and form for that matter. He also didn’t overact this time so that’s definitely a plus. I could have done without the kiss though. XD Oh and I agree with Nigel, the choreographer dumbed down the program to match Lauren and Dominic’s skills. Glad he’s going to put a stop to that!
Lacey & Neil
Latin Jazz - Yeys we get half-naked man dancing! As for the dance, it was nothing really memorable. I agree with the judges that there wasn’t much interaction or chemistry between them. It did feel as if they were dancing by numbers. Also, Lacey does have a tendency to focus more on the audience than on her partner. That’s the second time she’s gotten that critique (first time dancing hip-hop with Kameron) and I definitely agree with that too. Neil, I really didn’t focus on his dancing ‘cause well he’s half naked so ‘nuff said. XD
Contemporary - Wow, just beautiful! Where their first program was forgettable, this one definitely was memorable. I had tears in my eyes too. Both dancers conveyed the story of a father and daughter reuniting in heaven very well. You can tell they wanted to do their best for Mia and they did. Very believable! I wasn’t even focused on technique, just was absorbed in the story they told through movement. I was worried about the flowers scattered all over the stage fearing either Lacey or Neil may slip on one of them. Glad that didn’t happen. Again, touching and beautiful story told through dance!
Last but certainly not least!
Sabra & Pasha
Broadway - Choreographed by Tyce, both Sabra and Pasha were able to keep up with the fast paced dance and maintained the energy throughout! Love, love, love Sabra! Best pointed toes and turned out foot among the ladies. Love it when Pasha lifts her and she’s in a split position. Her form is just perfect!
Quickstep - Great way to end the evening! Best Quickstep I’ve seen in this show, bar none. Great use of the stage, lots of skips, hops, jumps, Charleston’s, all done with light steps, no plodding or stomping! That’s how a Quickstep is done! I thought both of Pasha and Sabra had great form. Totally love Sabra’s split leap while Pasha held her. And they didn’t lose speed or break the flow of the dance from that! And Pasha, may not have the best technique among the guys, but he is definitely the best partner among them. Totally well done! My fave dance of the night!
Who’s going home: My picks have to be Dominic and Lauren again this week. They are the weakest of the link. I’m worried about Danny though ‘cause the hip hop may have kept people from voting for her and Sara. I’m hoping people remember him (and his gorgeous spins) from the Tango instead!
hmmm ... surprise surprise!!! Lauren is still in the competition, and I really do not understand why  Wished that I get to see Sara for another week though, but people voted, and that's that :(
Performance show :
Sara & Danny - Loved the Argentine Tango, hated the Hip-Hop!!!
If I tuned in just when Danny was doing his 'spins', I'd have thought I was watching an ice skating competition. It amazes me how anyone can have so much control when spinning on a dance floor, and the little flip he did was effortless  .... Danny is just beyond graceful when he dance ^^
Sara has improved so much since the Paso Doble she did with Jesus, certainly does look like she's been dancing this style for years . The 'Pretzel' actually reminded me a bit of Burlesque XD ... I enjoyed it nonetheless :p
The Hip-Hop routine ... that whole performance reminded me so much of 'The Fresh Prince'. I really can't say much about this routine since the only memory I have of it was Sara's shiny spandex ... it made me cringe ^^;
Lauren & Dominic - Krump was slightly better than the Rumba!!!
Krump was meant to be hard hitting .... was it not? I'm sure Lauren was hitting it harder than Dominic, he was a bit on the soft side to me. The Rumba wasn't really well choreographed, and the only move that I remembered was the exact same move Dominic did with Sabra on the Mandy Moore contemporary routine. Lacking originality here >_<
Lacey & Neil - Best contemporary performance!!!
I think they're trying too hard to please the audience with the Latin Jazz routine, both of them seem to be dancing with the audience rather than with their partners. I really don't need to say anything about the contemporary routine by Mia Michaels : A powerful story told through dance!!!
Sabra & Pasha - Best performance of the night!!!
I never thought Pasha could do Broadway!!! His facial expressions were right on. The quick steps? To quote Pasha :"It's quick, it's alot of steps." ... I'll just add one more thing : it's beaming with energy!!! I don't think they slowed down at all throughout the routine ^^
Result Show :
Now why didn't Shane come up with an awesome routine like that little Matrix opening number for Sara & Danny? XD
I think this show is really turning me into a perv ... last week it was Danny, Last night it was Neil, and tonight it was Pasha .... :p I have no idea what Pasha did for his solo, and I really don't care ... all I saw was hawtttnesss XD
I'm not surprised Dominic is voted off, but I am a bit surprised that Lauren is staying ...

Another disappointment! I was hoping Sara would have stayed in the competition as well. I'm telling you Lauren got by because she had the skimpy outfit whereas Sara got stuck with Sesame Street in her second dance. Looking back at the recap of Sara's dances, there wasn't one performace I didn't like. I can't say the same for Lauren at all. How can America get it wrong. I should have voted non-stop for Sara!!! :mad Anyway, at least we know Lauren's next to go. There's no way she's as popular as Lacey and Sabra. *crosses fingers*
And yes, you're right Jaws, about Krumping being more hard hiting and Lauren was hitting it harder than Dominic. BTW, when I read other reviews on the net, people talk about how Lauren seems to be ahead of the music. I wonder if that contributed to her falling off Dominic's back because her timing was off. That said, goodbye to Dominic, he was such a ham, totally enjoyed watching him, but up against Neil, Pasha and especially Danny, he was totally out of his league.
Now why didn't Shane come up with an awesome routine like that little Matrix opening number for Sara & Danny? XD
I'm wondering the same thing! My crack theory is that when Shane heard he was going to get Danny and Sara, he figured to sabotage it for Danny, make him look as dorky as possible. He did say that he didn't like Danny at the beginning. By the time he realized that Danny was alright, it was too late to change the choreography. The bad costumes just made it even worse. :D LOL regarding your Fresh Prince comment, now that I think of it, it's straight out of his video of "Parent's Just Don't Understand" or something.
I think this show is really turning me into a perv ... last week it was Danny, Last night it was Neil, and tonight it was Pasha .... I have no idea what Pasha did for his solo, and I really don't care ... all I saw was hawtttnesss XD
LOL, I love me some Pasha too!!! I was like, just drop the cape, it's distracting my view of your chest, Pasha!
That was supposed to be the performance show before the finale!!?? Why did I feel like they were rushing everything, and couldn't wait to get out of there!!?? :p
Lacey & Pasha
Hip-Hop - Pasha is getting better at this Hip-Hop thing ^^ He doesn't show any bits of awkwardness in his moves, and that whole nerdy look works so well to his advantage, since it sort of distracts from picking up technical mistakes. Lacey was the perfect mannequin XD ... more posing than dancing again!? hah hah ... didn't mind at all ... more Pasha XD
Smooth Waltz - Definitely not the perfect Waltz ... then again, I really don't think anything can be compared to the Waltz Anya and Danny did in the earlier stage of the competition. Overall, it wasn't a bad performance, Nigel did mention aobut Lacey's hands position, and the other thing I noticed was when she did the split she didn't come back up smoothly ( also didn't go low enough actually ) ... just minor little things that sort of bugs me XD
Lauren & Danny
Contemporary - I actually had no idea what the story is behind the choreography, thought it was pretty chaotic!? Then again, I've stopped trying to understand anything that is the great Mia Michaels a long time ago :p Storyline aside, I have no complains with the performance. Danny's little 'kick' to Lauren's face was perfectly timed, it really did look like he 'kicked' her :p ... WAIT!!! Did I just say no complains??? I do have one complain ... there was a kiss somewhere >_<
Disco - Were the jehgees on crack when they gave their comments??? Or maybe it's just me alone that feels this way? Where was the energy in that Disco routine  .... Definitely not one of Danny's better performance, and the whole routine did not showcase any of his skills.
Sabra & Neil
Jazz - Another innovative routine!!! Highlighted Neil's skills very well, and both him and Sabra's facial expressions were excellent. It's nice to see something a little different during competition, and the table as prop helps in making the routine standout.
Paso Doble - Neil was definitely into character ^^ Highlight of the dance was definitely the lift, and Sabra's fall at the very end  I wasn't expecting anything to happen, and it surprised the heck out of me. Great job on the choreographer's part, I don't think anyone will forget an ending like that, it's going to help Sabra and Neil when it comes to getting votes.
Solos - I picked Lauren for best female solo last night, this is probably the first time I felt like she put some effort into her solo, and her movements were flawless. Best male solo goes to Pasha, not sure what the mannequin was for, wished he had came up with some moves that danced around it or something??? It stood out though XD
I think this was pretty much Neil's week ^^ Just his luck to have picked 2 styles that he'll exel in. Both the Jazz and Paso Doble routines required quite a bit of 'acting' to make the performance enjoyable, and he's just a natural at that. It doesn't matter how good their dance skills are, coz' I'm gonna bet 8 out of 10 voters know nothing about dancing ... what they are looking for is a good performer on stage, and I think Neil achieved that last night. He now has a very good chance of making the top 2 guys ... will be very interesting to see the result show next Monday.

Okay super late review 'cause I got lazy after I learned the results show wasn't until Monday. But as always Jaws, loved reading your review!:hug And yeah it did seem like all the dances seemed rushed.
Lacey & Pasha
Hip-Hop - Wow, fun program especially because Pasha got center stage. He totally captured the essense of geek/dork trying to get some action.(LOVE the doggy style humpin' XD) And I agree, he's able to handle the Hip Hop moves well, pop locks and all. Both Lacey and Pasha had great timing and were in sync when they did dance side by side near the end. Props to Lacey for staying in character of the mannequin especially in the posing. When she finally got to dance, her movements were crisper and sharper compared to Pasha's who was more relaxed (so both kept in character). Finally a dance where she gets to keep one facial expression throughout the program and it totally worked. XD
Smooth Waltz - Nicely executed, but when the waltz finished I did say, "where's the waltz?" I wanted more rise and falls, closed frames and movement across the floor. I felt like there was more dancing in one area and concentration on lifts and poses instead of actual waltzing. True also that you can't but help and compare this waltz to the one Anya and Danny did and you know this one falls short. Again, outstanding posture, frame from Pasha. True ballroom dancer, can't find fault in him here. I was actually expecting more from Lacey because she does ballroom, even if it's Latin division. Pasha also does Latin, but he was able to adapt well to the smoothness of the waltz. I agree that aside from Lacey's hands, her split wasn't as complete and her line wasn't as elegant as it could be. So yeah, suprised about that.
Lauren & Danny
Contemporary - LOL, I wish Danny's fan kick wasn't so perfectly timed so he actually would have hit Lauren and knock some grace into her. XD I know, I know I'm mean, but eh, she ruined my view of Danny the whole time. Her dancing is so frenetic compared to Danny it's like watching a bee next to a butterfly. That said, I didn't enjoy this program at all. Normally I love Mia's choreography, but this one left me feeling nothing for it. I have no idea what the story was either, but the mention of "alien" movements at first made me look forward to some outer worldly dance set to abstract music or something. Instead we got Celine Dion. Don't get me wrong, there are times when Celine's music works (i.e. Mia used her song for the program The Bench danced by Travis and Heidi last year), however it didn't work here. There was also a lot more "running" as opposed to actual dancing. They ran down the stairs, danced a little on the stage, Danny sets himself in one end and Lauren run towards him and both crash to the floor. The effect wasn't as powerful as a similar sequence that Lacey and Kameron did at a Mia choreographed program in the beginning of the season. Anyway, last 20 seconds of the program had no dancing, just Danny and Lauren climbing up the stairs and going to the balcony...what? And yeah the kiss was weird also. Why Nigel was being orgasmic about the dance is beyond me. :headscratch
Disco - Yes I agree the jehgees were on crack! Again we have to do comparison and Neil and Sara's disco totally blows this one away. That was a fun dance that made you want to get up and dance. This one with Lauren and Danny had no energy, sucked the life out of the crowd. It was like dance by numbers. By that I mean it feels like they were just going from one move to another and the transitions between each move weren't smooth at all. And I agree, Danny's skills were not showcased, nor did I feel like he came out as a performer.
Sabra & Neil
Jazz - Awesome program! Heh, I think even Mia was impressed by this program made by Mandy Moore. Loved the story of the 80's power businessman and woman negotiating a deal over and under the table. Great use of the table in the dance. It gave the program another layer or level because it was used as a stage as well for Sabra and Neil to show their stuff. Love Neil's plange above Sabra as she lay on the table. He was just so smooth and controlled, that move was almost in slo-mo. Also love the overhead lift with Sabra's awesome split (best one among the ladies left). Great choreography, great music (Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams Woo!), great execution and performance by both Sabra and Neil.
Paso Doble - Wow! Classic Paso Doble finally! I didn't think at first that Neil would be able to pull off the machismo of the bull fighter, but he did it. Mad props to him. He got the character right, his form would make a matador proud, and he partnered Sabra well. Both of them captured the sharp, staccato movements and poses of the dance. Great job on the "donut" lift at the end. That was a spectacular ending indeed. Sabra is totally one gutsy lady to do that. But guess she was used to being dropped thanks to Dominic. XDDD Anyway, best dance of the night!
Solos - Solo's I would give to Sabra for the ladies. As Nigel said she dances from the heart and I totally agree. She explodes with power and grace in every moment. Lauren was second, again my main problem with her is that she always seems like she's in a rush. Nice centering on both spins she did do though, her second one had so much control. Lacey, I expected more, but she's all about showing off her butt which I guess guys like. XD
For the guys, bar none, Danny tops for me just because well it's Danny. :D No he had me at his first spin where he ends with an arabesque position that was to die for. Great height on the split jump and awesome interpretation of the music. Pasha was second, though I did enjoy his program. Why is he, as a ballroom dancer, able to make his solos interesting whereas Anya and now Lacey can't do anything but shake their butt? Neil was great too, no one can match his gymnastic moves. He can totally fly, this guy!
Last but not least, I totally agree that Neil was this weeks' #1 performer. Can't believe that a couple of weeks back I wanted him gone. He's proven to be the most improved guy in the competition. I'm proud of him! Among the guys I really don't know who to choose to be the top two finalists. I like them all. Actually, I'm sure I want Danny to be in there, however, he and Pasha may have to battle it out 'cause I think Neil's performance this week may give him the most votes.
As for the ladies, I just want Lauren gone. 'nuff said. XD
Thanks Nocturne :hug ... and this thread has turned into our little corner I think :p .... what happened to all the other SYTYCD fans :headscratch ???
First of all, let me just say I applaud the show for caring about the local communities. Be it for advertisement of the show or not, they at least went out and did something!!! Same goes for Cedric ... yes there is no need to announce about him getting a full scholarship into the Debbie Allen dance school, but in a way, I think it's great they announced it. Why? Because it shows they don't waste talent, and this gives hope to alot of dancers out there who really wants to make it into the dance field :)
On to the show ....
Can't ever get enough of Wade Robson :D It was one twisted number to start off the show, and I think Wade can make any dancer look good, seriously!!! All his choreography just automatically draws your attention, they're weird, they're creepy, and they're all amazing!!! All of them!!! Not sure what it was for tonight, they look alot like swamp creatures to me XD
I really enjoyed all the dance performances tonight, isn't it alot better when they have dancers as special guests on the show ... rather than pop music artists? Never hit me until tonight actually, but it just make more sense when they showcase dance groups on a dancing show XD ... don't mind the one or two bands once in awhile, but they should definitely consider having more dance groups to perform on the result shows for next season.
It's starting to look more and more like a competition between the guys now, as I don't quite see the girls matching up to their level. Danny ofcourse is the strongest I'd say, and he should win this if based on dance techniques alone. Neil really transformed himself over the last 2 weeks I think, he has really turned the competition around, and I won't be surprised if he actually go on to win this, of all 4 dancers, I like him best when it comes to performance. Sabra is the strongest among the female dancers, and I'd say she's alot better than Lacey when it comes to both performance and skills, I'm not sure though that when it comes to popularity votes, any of the other 3 dancers can compare with Lacey. somehow I feel that Benji has a high influence on her getting quite a few votes!!! Of the solos performed tonight, Lacey's was the weakest. Can't really choose between Pasha and Danny as my favourite, they're both very good ... only that Pasha wins a little bit for me just because he was shirtless :p
Well, no surprise about which girl were to be eliminated tonight, but Lauren should be proud of herself for making it to the top 3 girls. If she had started the competition as strong as last week, things could have been very different for her I think. I'm happy to see that the final 2 girls are the ones I feel are rightly in place. For the guys ... doesn't matter who's leaving tonight, I won't be happy to see any of them go ... if only they don't have to dance pairs, or maybe one of them can dress up as a girl? That would actually make me happy :p Yes, I'm very sad to see Pasha go, but I'll be totally crushed if Danny were eliminated .... and I don't feel angry or sad that Neil made it into the finals ... I'm just so confused when it comes to choosing between those 3 :cry
Wednesday's show should be very exciting ^^

LOL, yeah, Jaws, this place did become our little corner. I think our big ass reviews scared a bunch people off. Well at least we know some people are still checking in on the thread 'cause we two couldn't have viewed this thread this much.XD
Alls I have to say is, YES, Lauren is gone! I agree, she peaked too late, but I never was a big fan of her dancing anyway so I'm not sorry she's gone. I knew that Pasha would have been the odd man out 'cause Neil stepped it up big time last week. I am happy that Pasha at least gave us one last look of his gorgeous naked chest and back! *drools*
Danny was great, but I was missing his signature spins! That's one thing Neil is weak in, spins. He can do them, but they are not centered so you often see his spins travel instead of stay in one place. He also normally falls out of his spin too. But it will be a great head to head battle between him, the acrobatic dancer, and Danny, the consumate professional.
Among the ladies, I agree that Sabra is the better dancer than Lacey, but not sure who will win the popular vote with them. Being Benji's sister does carry a lot of votes. I would put Sabra on top between them, but I'm not sure she'd win against Danny either.
Speaking of Benji, I find he's still better than his sister...or maybe Lacey hasn't been showcased enough in the Latin styles to show off her skills in partnering. In some ways, I find Heidi even better than her right now. Or maybe I'm biased by the Black Mambo program that Heidi and Benji did last season:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6dOag3pY68
I don't think there was a dance this season that matched the complexity of that choreography by Alex Da Silva and perfectly executed by Heidi and Benji in terms of performance and technique. Well hopefully the finals on Wednesday will surprise me.

OK I just saw the latest ep. I have been watching it on and off (me sad Pasha is gone) but tonights highlight for me was the fighting princes. Excellent. The 2 lady foxes uh, that was the choreogragher's fault. Those poor girls. It was cute though.
Good to see someone else posting here ... Lady Scaper ... :glomp
I agree, highlight of the night was the duelling princes. How very fitting that Danny was transformed into a prince, and I say he had chosen the best music for his solo :D .... 'We are the champion', I think Danny might just have done it and will be the champion this season here. Like Mary said, who would get tired of watching Danny dance? No one else covered the stage like he did with their solos, and that pause with the little smile in the mid, not worth quater of a mill, but worth a full million I'd say. At the end of his solo, I only have 3 words to say : Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Encore!!!
Did Wade Robson and Mia Michaels switched bodies or something? Anyone else noticed Wade's routine looked alot more like a Mia Michaels routine, and the Mia Michaels routine had Wade's signatures written all over it!!?? That 'Kabuki Foxes' routine was a bit weird for me, I dont' think it was bad, it was very expressive actually, I just wasn't expecting something like that from Wade Robson. It definitely took everyone by surprise ^^;
I looooved Lacey & Danny's waltz. What a leap from the previous waltz Lacey did with Pasha!!! Her hands were graceful, and the series of head turns were done with perfect timing, still not as perfect as the Anya & Danny waltz, but they have done a pretty waltz, and it will be one of my favourites.
Now the Cha-Cha :p .... Hips hips and more hips :p .... no idea about the technical skills here, but who cares? There is more than enough sexy Sabra and Danny to go around here, and I enjoyed every second of it :p
Did Cat say she and Nigel's gonna dance tonight???? That's definitely something to look forward to, I also can't wait to see our top 20 again ... too bad Hok did not make it into the final 10 guys, that's probably the only dissapointment I really have with the show this season :(
Nocturne ... I hope you've been dialing till your fingers bleed last night!!! I want Danny to win XD
*note : I didn't post a full review this time, been having loads of problems with my comp today, so I'm rushing to get some of the things I really wanted to say off before the finale tonight ( and before my comp crash again ), I apologize in advance :(

Good to see you here too, Lady Scaper! And yes I agree the Dueling Princess totally ruled! That and Danny's freaking awesome solo!
Nocturne ... I hope you've been dialing till your fingers bleed last night!!! I want Danny to win XD
*shows bandaged fingers* Yeah, dialed my ass off as well! XD Danny better win! I've been mad busy at work as well so I didn't get to write a full review. I'll post mine tomorrow along with thoughts from the results and the season!
Have a blast watching the finals tonight, guys!
Nooooo .... Danny didn't win :( I am not dissapointed Sabra won though, she has a big personality and dance skills to be a champion :) I just sort of wonder if Nigel played any part with the voting, I did not like the last comment he had the night before the finale "It'd be nice to see a girl win this season"?
LOL at the monstrosity cat had on last night, I keep having this image of her as an Ostrich :rotflmao... with all the money this show is making, I'd think they can afford to hire a decent stylist? XD
Alright, I loved the 'Lion King' number choreographed by Tyce, and I loved most of the dances re-showcased, especially delighted to see Jaimie & Hok back to perform the 'Hummingbird' routine by Wade Robson. I really applaud the show for showcasing some of the awesome dancers who were not suitable to compete in the show, it was such a treat to see them do what they're best at ... heh if a Clogger can clog to a Timbaland piece, I think anything is possible on the show. I hope Shane keeps his words of introducing Brian Gaynor into the movie scene, 'cause I'd love to see him on the big screen someday. Actually, I really think Neil has alot of potential becoming a movie star ... he can certainly act, and I love that cute face on screen XD
Dissapointments on the finale ( apart from Danny not winning :( ) ... What cruelty they bestowed us with the Cat & Nigel dancing cartoon :eek !!! I was mad I tell ya!!! Maaaad  I was sooo looking forward to a real dance, and that's what we got!!?? That was a bad bad joke
Other dissapointments for me : No Anya & Danny waltzing, instead we got Foxtrot ... it wasn't bad, but I liked their Waltz more. Also I was hoping to see the Paso Doble by Sabra & Neil XD ... all and all, really wasn't a bad finale, except for the 'CATooNIE' dancing  ... yes, I really have a bone to pick with that
Now that the show is over ... what should we do next ( until season 4 )? Wonders about this 'American Band' thing, anyone gonna watch it this fall? This thread has really been fun for me, and a big huge thank you for all who participated ( or tried to :D ) ... Nocturne, you know how much I love you for all your awesome reviews and thoughts week after week :hug
So, until next season, Jaws's bigass SYTYCD reviews for season 3 is done :cry

I hated the cartoon dancing too and I did want to see Neil and Sabre's Paso Doble, I mean they showed the way they ended the dance why couldn't they show the rest? I would have taken that over the Eurythmics piece. I think those were the only weaknesses of the finale. I am glad Sabre won. I think Danny could have totally done it too though. I am glad to see Danny open up. If he gets nothing else out of the experience at least there is that. I remember in the begining his dancing seemed so cold. Now he has facial expression and looks like he has fun when dancing. I hope most of these dancers get good jobs. I would love to see the final 4 get work and Pasha and Hok get some good gigs too. (I still remember the sick step crew audition from last year.)
