It's real simple, folks. See any good movies recently? Or what about a real stinker? We want to know. Tell us what you saw and what you thought about it. If you write a really compelling post, you may actually be able to influence whether or not your fellow members go see the movie.

I went and saw Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer a few days ago. I'm a die hard American comic fan when I'm not being an Anime/Manga fan and this movie just blew me out of the water. There were a few CGI and storyline problems, but they were very minute. The most glaring error was at the end of the film, but I won't ruin that for all of you who haven't seen it yet. Just know that if you're a stickler for details in American comics, you'll be angered by the ending. It's well-done, but incorrect. All-in-all, I give the movie an 8.9/10. It wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it was superior to the first in almost every way. I highly recommend you check the film out. It'll be worth the price of admission.

I'll write this as I do on another forum :)
Shooter - 7/10 - imdb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822854/)
Just long time since I've seen a decent action movie and I really enjoyed this one. Might not be the best story you can find but it gave me the entertainment I wanted.
Ok this is the last one that crushed me.
Shinobi - 8.5/10
I don't usually watch japanese movies, but this one is like wow esthetically is beautiful still i guess the storyline could have been more *****. :(

Not bad for not seeing the other two before hand. I think there was a bit too much ship based fighting but the gags, jokes and the whole running and story of the film fitted really well.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie - 3/10
I watched this movie in the '90s and loved it. My, how 10 years can change things. This movie blows. That's all I'm gonna say. There's no point in writing a review. The only reason to like the movie is the cute girl who plays Kimberly. Okay, maybe the Whit Ranger and his Falcon Zord too. Hell... when you think about it, the only reason to watch the old series was Kimberly and the Green Ranger/Dragon Zord.

Flyboys - 8.5/10
I saw it on DVD recently. It's a very fun movie, if a bit predictable in story. But! The acting is wonderful and the special effects/CG are top notch. ^^ And it even breaks some of the typical Hollywood movie sterotypes (and it has Jean Reno in it, squee!). I definitely recommend it if you want to spend a lazy afternoon enjoyably. :)

Just My Luck 7/10
McFLY are in this film so you can see why i have it on DVD XD. Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine do a really great job in this film. And you have to laugh at Lindsay getting the bad luck as a non fan of her work it cracks me up a lot. One thing i didn't like is how they made the friend of Lindsay write a song which McFLY wote called "I've Got You" was like meh steal someone elses songs. McFLY are hilarious in this movie there acting is so funny. And Danny Jones (singer and gutartist in McFLY's) broad Bolton accent cracks me up. Love it xD.
Its a chick flick btw xD

Turned out to be much better that i thought it would be. Very funny and it's the kinda "good for the family" movies. The voiceactors were quite good and the jokes were very unpredictable and funny! (unlike shrek 3 where it was funny, but redundant at times...) Really enjoyed it :p 8.5/10

It's way better than Shaun of the Dead; I LOL'ed way more times in this movie. It's got comedy, it's got action (lots of blood and gore too actually o_O), and boat loads of cop movie cliches. XD
Definitely recommended to anyone who wants a good laugh (but not those who are squeamish because the movie does get a little graphic with the violence. :p Oh and of course there's swearing in it too ^^).

Absolute garbage, don't waste your money. It wasn't entertaining at all. It felt fake, CG was fake, plot was rubbish. At least it should have good action? NO! The action was junk as well. Flop........flop flop!
Ratatouille (Rat-a-too-e)
My quick review -
Story line: 4.9/5
Animation: 5/5
Music: 5/5
Entertainment: 5/5
Humor: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Overall: 5/5!!!
What a MAGNIFICANT movie! Pixar has done it again. The story and the animation was just AWESOME. Why was the story a 4.9? Well, I feel like I could KIND OF guess what might've happened but there were some originality and humor here and there that made me feel like I'm involved. The movie welcomes you and it is worth all of my time and money to see it on the big screen. And I must say that the animation was SUPERB and the best animation I have ever seen. There were a lot of scenes and objects in the movie where you'd think that they were real. My boyfriend goes to school to major in animation and he says that he himself was impressed and he has never seen quality and animation that good. I assure you, you will not be let down.

I saw Transformers yesterday (Monday) and thought it was awesome. I plan to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when it comes out. :)
Transformers : really good, much better than i expected! The action was really good and the humor was nice to see as well.. I think they should've provided more explaination about decepticons and autobots (like the conflict between them and all because not everyone knows the series that well) but still, a good, solid movie ;)
I saw Transformers too. It was great but I felt it ended too soon.

It had some great talent doing voices, like Nicole Kidman, Elijah Woods, and Robin Williams. The songs are catchy and the beat can be too (well, that or annoying). But the animation wasn't the best, and the plot was very disjointed IMO.
It's not even good for a fun time ... unless you're entertaining young kids. I wouldn't recommend anyone (who is over 7 yrs old) to watch it.

'1408'
About a ghostwriter who goes to presumable 'haunted' hotels and checks them out.
He wants to stay in room 1408 for the night to see if the rumors are true, and thus..after alot of trouble..he can stay in it. Alot of weird and scary things happen in this room.
The ending was well..unexpected and overall good to see movie...not scary at all.

The Departed - 9/10
AWESOME stuff. Great acting , the cast couldn't have been chosen better. Leo, Matt, Jack and Marky Mark...this was an excellent movie. Made me want to swear, rekindled my appreciation of Dropkick Murphy's. The romance element was kinda non sequiter, didn't really make as much sense as in Infernal Affairs. It's definitely not up to Infernal Affairs, but it's definitely Oscar-worthy.

I watched it about a month ago. I haven't been in a movies mood lately. It didn't feel as "epic" as it was claimed to be (though watching it in a hotel could be the reason). The battles were nice, and I love the raining arrows. Overall, I give it a 8.9/10.

Harry Potter: OotP - 8/10
I didn't read the book, so I'm basing all this on what I saw. The plot felt a little too disjointed/jumpy for me, but I know it can't be helped due to the huge story it has to derive itself from.
There's no problem with the acting, the scenery, or the music. But somehow the movie left me feeling a little underwhelmed? It's still a good watch, but I wouldn't have minded watching it on DVD when it came out. :o
Ratatouille : awesome movie!! very funny, cute, intriguing, interesting... everything basically!! very moving.... n__n ~9.3/10
Live Free or Die Hard : not bad.. kinda (very, actually) unrealistic in every single way, but still quite intertaining and action-packed. (and that's what really matters in that kind of movie i guess..) 7/10

Just watched "Hairspray". I'd give it a 8.5/10.
Singing, dancing, and costumes were superb! Acting was great, humour was plentiful and plot was nice. All in all a great, fun movie to watch. My only real complaint was that the main boy and girl didn't have any on screen chemistry, but that doesn't really detract from the movie.

It was nicely drawn and all and the cgi (if that's correct) were amazing but I didn't laugh once! It was awesome though that we gotta see Barts full body...didn't expect that..although it was said..so that was a good point, but overall..meh.

Just saw "Bourne Ultimatum". I give it 8.5/10.
I'm not sure if it was the cinema's projector or the movie itself, but at the start the camera seemed shaky. It actually made me feel a little nauseous. :(
But it has a nice plot and story, and the pace is always fast and exciting. It has great action scenes, of course. If you're an action fan or just a fan of the movies/books, I would highly recommend it.

The Knot - It's a Chinese movie that's like a crappy Asian version of Pearl Harbor, which was already pretty crappy. Which makes The Knot super crappy crappy. Just saw The Brave One. Seeing how I <3 Jodie Foster, there was no doubt I was on my way to see this one.
Difficult to rate without giving too much away. The story was original, but not executed in the best way at the start. The beginning was very slow. But once it picked up around the scene on the subway, it got much much better.
Acted greatly by all the main people and even the minor roles. Nice music selections. All in all a really good movie for me.

Too much of the movie was filmed via handheld cameras and the plot was rather draggy for the first 2/3 of the movie.
I spent most of the movie staring away from the screen... it gave me a really really bad headache. Ending was good though.
Won't watch it again even if you paid me.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
...I would have paid Leatherface to push that chainsaw through my throat rather than had to have watched that travesty (not really. I despise chainsaws through the throat.) Typical horror film and these type of horror films thrive on shock value. Characters=meh
The original (I'm talking about the one made in the 70s), was actually a little terrifying and suspenseful, if you could get over the overacting and the fact that that movie is part of what inspired our favorite movie cliche of that "final girl" the same girl that some of us, at some point, wished got hit by a truck.
2/10 (budgets and special effects do wonders. I hate torture scenes so for those who like them 3/10)
Number 23
Predictable...Jim Carey's voice over parts weren't very well done, but his acting was decent for the character. I wasn't asking for much so:
5/10 (watch it if you're not expecting anything spectacular)
God help me, my friend is going to take me to watch Superbad tomorrow.

SUPERBAD: 10/10, I'm sorry this movie secretes awesome and pisses excellence. It owns your soul.:D:cool::D
Knocked Up: 10/10 Hilarious thats really all I have to say, btw, dont watch these two movies if you don't find these kinds of things funny :p
Superman: Doomsday: 8/10, Superman looked 50, Luthor looked like Xerxes and Lois lane looked like a 14 year old latina girl...Her voice acting sucked too :p Other than that it wasa rpetty good movie, a few shocking parts

That reminds me:
Knocked up
Hilarious. I wanted to see it in theaters because, ahem, 40 Year-Old Virgin. "Dude, you know how I know you're gay?" It was funny, but more surprisingly, I cared about the relationship junk. I hate a lot of romance/comedies, but this one was really good. The situation and dialogue actually seemed realistic and if actual couples and relationships were funny (movie reference for those of you who watched it)...they'd be a lot alike(maybe minus all the wierdos. man were they wierd.)
10/10 (because I hate a lot of romantic comedies)

New Australian movie, it was really good xD Was about a cop who is having problems being a cop basically and he gets stuck working on a supposedly easy job but yeah it all goes to hell. Really well done with the acting etc and it kept me interested all the way through, it even had a slight horror vibe which was cool since i love horror. Good to see another decent Aussie film...you can't get more Aussie than calling condoms frangers rofl

Stardust: Yeah my friend took me to see it. Not bad and Ricky Gervais. I normally can't stand the bloke but he bit was quiet amusing. And the guy of the ship of lightning man that was some classic comedy xDDD old guy dancing in a dress LOL. Must have paid him a fortune. The action could have done with a bit more i found it a bit drab to be honest but the special effects were ace. Was a bit confusing at parts as well and a little over the place sometimes and left me a bit confused but what the heck. Will have to look for two stars next to each other now and if there not its not them. 7/10

1. The History Boys 9/10- Everything but the end I loved. I thought the end was a bit "?!" (abrupt might be a good word?) but it was really funny and now one of my favorite movies.
"Imagine how depressing it is to teach five centuries of masculine ineptitude!" -The female history teacher.
2. A Very Long Engagement 8/10- The polar opposite of The History Boys as it's not a comedy and it takes place in a completely different time period--it's a drama about a woman's (Audrey Tatou) unwavering conviction to find her fiance (the incredibly hot Gaspard Ulliel) and hope that he's still alive after (pretty much) a suicide mission during the 1st World War. I can't really say I'd watch it straight through again willingly for a while--though I might watch various scenes. Mathilde was a lovely character. Overall a beautiful film.

I saw the new Coen Brothers movie a few weeks ago.
No Country for Old Men is a Strange but amazing movie.
Like every other Coen Brothers movie, you gotta see it a few times to get every detail and every joke.
The movie has Alot of Violance and can be very serius, but in true Coen Brothers Fashion, there are Dark Jokes aplenty.
All in all it was another Coen Brothers Classic.

Yeah, There was not much going on in the movietheatre so we went to watch this flick, heel better than the golden compass I presume and with the feeling i had for it; being extremely sucky- as in Jerry Seinfeld*puke* it was a reasonably film actually.
I adored John Goodman, he stole the show for me and some other, minor characters. Jerry Seinfeld though: No, he tries too hard to be funny and he just isn't.
Go John Goodman:yell

I am Legend - 9/10
Seeing that the genre is horror I think it fared really well. It's not your typical horror flick where you see a bunch of dumb teenagers being overly curious and getting themselves killed. Nor do you see the typical busty stupid women who trip all over themselves and end up meeting their doom.
The movie is filled with emotions and angst that everyone could relate to. There are some comedic moments also. I would say that the movie was pretty realistic. Less gore and more humanity. I definitely recommend seeing it for yourself.

I like to think of it as a new type of "Zombie Survival Movie"
The "Zombies" are Mutated Humans caused by a Virus.

"I Am Legend" reminds me of the 1964 horror classic "The Last Man on Earth" starring one of the greatest actors of our time, Vincent Price.
"Next" starring Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, and Jessica Biel.
The movie was fairly good. I loved the ending, it really threw your mind for a loop.
"Premonition" starring Sandra Bullock and Julian McMahon
It was good, until the ending. What was the point of the movie if having the premonitions if she couldn't save her husband?

@ Lady Orihime - I think that the point of the movie is to basically tell the viewer that you can't change fate. At least thats what I got from it.
@ Vizard - Yea I've been having discussions with my friends who have seen it. I love watching movies and analyzing it. I read review on I am Legend online and they aren't kind and I don't know why. It was a good movie to me. I think that some people just didnt get it. For example the Roger Ebert review. He was criticizing that the movie didnt make sense. He stated that if Robert was the last man on earth (or so he thought) who was he making the cure for himself? So that leaves me to believe they didnt get that the vaccine could be used to reverse the process or to provide a vaccination to the current survivors or future generations. SIGH

What a great movie. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The story is beautiful and tragic. I recommend you (yes you) to see it. I absolutely love Johnny and Helena in this movie. The Golden Compass...
for someone who had never read the book, this movie would probably seem pretty good...but from the view of someone who HAD read it, the movie could have been alot better...
The trailers made it look interesting, and the movie started out ok, but then some of the parts of the book were changed around. Many events shown in the movie happened differently, and some of the book's events didnt even occur in the movie. The ending wasn't close to the book at all.
It kind of reminds me of how the Eragon movie turned out. I loved that book and was excited to see how it would be as a film, but i was disappointed. :(

"Sweeney Todd"
Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd...
And yes, I will be comparing it to the stage show I saw in 2005 at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. It wasn’t a touring production, but a production that is sponsored, so it’s like it is a touring show.
LIKES:
1. The overall quality of the film was amazing. Very dark, very interesting that before Sweeney was sent to Jail, his vision of London was bright and happy…but then he gets back, and it’s dark, ugly, gritty, etc.
2. Johnny Depp can SING. OH MY GOD. And he can sing AMAZINGLY. I didn’t think he could hold out some of those notes, but he did, and he didn’t disappoint. And “Sweeney Todd” is a hard score to sing. He was better than the guy I saw on stage, as well as George Hearn and Len Cariou. I will be listening to "Epiphany" every night before I go to bed.
3. Helena Bonham Carter. At first, I thought she was just cast because she was Burton’s wife, but she was very perfect for the part. It was kind of different, because I’m used to the morbidly humorous Mrs. Lovett (like the one I saw on stage) and Angela Lansbury. But Carter was serious morbid, LOL. I SO want to be her for Halloween!
4. “By the Sea” was SO endearing. I loved how in all of Mrs. Lovett’s “happy family” visions, Sweeney just sat there staring straight ahead with a scowl on his face.
5. Who could have played Pirelli better than Sacha Baron Cohen, I do not know. Everyone in the theatre laughed when he made his entrance, and his high note during “The Contest” was so funny!
6. The entire cast was amazing, but they didn’t really stand out like Depp and Carter.
7. I'm so glad that they didn't add in the part where the Beadle kills the little canary that Anthony gives to Johanna.
DISLIKES:
1. I didn’t like that the beggar woman had a smaller part. I especially didn’t like that she didn’t great Sweeney and Anthony at the docks and say to Sweeney “Hey, don't I know you, mister?" because it sets up the end.
2. I didn’t like that “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” was left out. I didn’t like that “God, That’s Good!” wasn’t as it was in the stage production, because, honestly, that’s my favorite song of the entire show. I love ensemble pieces, what can I say?
3. I wish that they would have kept in the scene where the guy walks in for a shave, and before Sweeney can kill him, the man's son walks in and watchs his father get his shave, and Sweeney doesn't kill him. I liked this part because it showed that Sweeney still had a human side to him and a human heart. Instead they just replaced it with a quick "the guy gets shaved, as his wife and daughter are sitting there." as he is singing the "Johanna" reprise.
3. I think the fact that we had to see Mrs. Lovett buring was a bit much. It was very laughable.
4. The ending with Toby just leaving. What made the ending creepy on stage was when Toby went back to the meat grinder and just kept grinding the meat after killing Sweeney.
So, there you have it. If you haven’t seen the stage show, I would definitely recommend going to see this movie. If you have seen the show, go see it anyway, but don’t expect everything to be the same.
Oh, and guys…be prepared because ANOTHER one of my favorite musicals (my 4t favorite musical actually) is hitting the big screen…MAMMA MIA!!!
10/10
It was pretty good. More funny then anything else *though I had to close my eyes with the slicing part*. Surprisingly, I didn't predict the ending twist.
You probably could have if they had kept the Begger Woman meeting Sweeney and Anthony at the docks...she says something at the beginning of the stage show that she says at the end.
"Enchanted"
True Loves Kiss Is The Most Powerful Thing In The World
Finally got to see it! It was such a cute movie! I especially love how Giselle's dream was foretelling ROBERT being her Prince, not Edward (look at how she dressed that wooden figure, HIS HAIR, and in her dream she was dancing with him; Robert was wearing what Giselle dreamt him in and they were dancing at the King and Queen's ball)
I also loved all the tributes to the older Disney version of fairytales
- How much 'toon Giselle looked like Ariel, just with lighter hair (my mom even went "That's Ariel!")
- Aurora's dream of dancing with her prince.
- How Giselle and Edward rode off into the sunset on the white horse (like in "Snow White")
- Snow White's friendships with animals (and the "new" version of "Whistle While You You Work)
- Reflections in the soap bubbles (Cinderella)
- How Narissa looked like The Evil Queen from SW and Maleficent from SB, and did the whole dragon thing at the end like Maleficent did in "Sleeping Beauty"
- LOVED how past some past Disney Princesses made cameos!
Jodi Benson = Ariel = Robert's Assistant
Paige O'Hara = Belle = Soap Opera lady
Judy Kuhn (singing) = Pochaontas = "You're too late" apartment lady
I know I'm probably missing some, but these were the ones I could remember :o
And DAMN! Had I known Idina Menzel was in this, I would have seen it sooner! She's one of my favorite stage actresses (she was the original Maureen in "RENT" on Broadway and in the movie, and Elphaba in "Wicked", and is married to one of the hottest men on earth; TAYE DIGGS! *nosebleed*) I especially loved the ending she got her happy ending too, and basically became the Cinderella of the story XD

Gone: 5/10 although it was ok to watch there were too many drawn out scenes which had no real effect on the plot/feel/direction of the movie so were just kinda boring and pointless...sure some might say it's artsy but well I wouldn't even call it that. If you cut those scenes the movie would be a lot better but would probably go for about 20 mins. I'm cursing the person who compared it to Wolf Creek...puh-lease....this flick has nothing on Wolf Creek so rent that instead ;)
I Am Legend really lives up to its trailers and reviews ;3 It's a bit more of a horror than I imagined... and WIll Smith is amazing... Really loved the way they did the cityscape for Times Square too... I was working there for a few months so it really made me go especially "wow" XD

Enchanted 10/10
I WILL buy the DVD. The actors for Giselle and the Prince really sang their parts. <333
Lady O, thanks for the details! I agree completely with all of them, however I didn't noticed some (reflection on bubbles). Will concentrate harder the next time I watch the show. :D
It was during the scene where Giselle is cleaning the bathroom floor with the animals ^_^
Wasn't it great!? I just loved all the tributes to the past Disney Princess movies. And if you listen closely, you can here some of the background music to "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", etc. And you know when Giselle gave that old lady money? You can here the lady say "Would you like to feed the birds? ____ a bag." TOTAL Mary Poppins reference there! :D
But I just have to say that my favorite parts were
- At the beginning when Giselle had the dream of dancing with her "prince", made the statue and it ends up looking like what Robert wore to the ball, and they danced together. TOTAL premonition! And how he sang to her during the song, just made my heart flutter.
- Now Nancy really became the Cinderella of the story. I thought that was genius.
- Real life Pip owned the movie. Especially during his charade scene in the resturant! "No thank-you"...."'Is good"..."Well, okay!"

Enchanted
6/10
It was a bit too Disney for me, most Disney movies aren't made with 100% sugar but this one was. Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan etc had storylines which were powerful and lots of good themes such as friendship, love, courage, righteousness but Enchanted was just all about love and dreams of love coming true.
There were some moments of sarcasm which appealed to my "matured" tastes and a few jokes such as:
Morgan Philip: Remember not to put too much makeup or the boys may get the wrong idea. They are only after one thing.
Giselle: What's that?
Morgan Philip: I don't know. They won't tell me.
Prince Edward: [threatening Robert with his sword] Have you any last words before I dispatch you?
Robert: You have got to be kidding me!
Prince Edward: Strange words!
Me watching Enchanted is like a Disney princess in a horror movie, just fish out of water:yell. A bit too overbaked Disney for me, its not a bad movie but really not my cup of sugary tea.

Leonardo was good but I didn't like the scottish/irish accent that he was using..too much Johnny=Jack Sparrow remembrance there.
The man that played Solomon was soo powerful, wow! I totally bought what he was selling right there^^
Though I thought the flick was too long and quite 'boring' the ending was soooo good! I loved it. That's why it got a 7 from me!
Also the subject..superb. It was about time someone made a film about diamonds and Sierra Leone..not that sugary fluff all the time but the real deal.

The very recent movie that I saw was National Treasure 2, and that was like 3 weeks ago. It's really good, and not at all disappointing; similar to the first one. The plus for me was that there's Nicholas Cage in it. He was one of the actors that made it to my favourite actors list.
I missed about five minutes of the show at the start, since my older sisters decided to grab burgers and we were late. But still, the movie got me hooked on it from the start. Very realistic acting by all cast. Nicholas played his role in an amazing way, as well as the female lead and the side-kick. :D
Conflicts between characters are also resolved, which adds to another good point to watch this movie. Overall, NT2 is complete; it is very interesting and entertaining in all the right places. Not a lot of romance in it, it's Historical so romantic elements are not heavy in it; except for some love fights and mocking, so it'll probably be a no-no to true hopeless romantics. Must watch for those who find history an interesting matter though.

Aliens vs Predator: Requiem - 7/10
It was better than AvP, that's for sure, but has none of the magic the older movies conveyed. It was a pure hack and slash flick really. Lots of blood and violence, and well, actually there was so much killing that it seemed somewhat pointless near the end of the film.

Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street 7.5 / 10
Johnny Depp sings pretty well! Massive <333 for:
- Mrs Lovett's 'worst pies in town' song and the accompanying choking on food from Todd.
- Mrs Lovett's 'family and love' imaginary scenes... is hilarious with a permanently grouchy Todd.
- Singing + throat slitting scenes. Its so... unreal.
Why the low-ish ranking? I spent most of the ending scenes hiding behind my jacket. Too much sprays of fake blood for my liking. :p

Sweeney Todd 7,5/10
I loooooooooooooooooooove the song Epiphany, absolutely my favourite song.
Johnny Depp's singing is gorgeous. And seeing 'Ali G' as the crazy Pirelli is ace. Btw..who's the judge again? he looks soo familiar!
The death scenes were too fake for my liking..though one was just ace, and I think the ones that saw this flick now which one I'm talking about.
I gave this film this 'low' ranking because there's just too much singing in it. I am not a musical fan and ofcourse this was a musical..but didn't think it would be all singing and no talking..well barely. Aand the deaths were all the same..I was hoping for some gutting or slicing of other limbs..too bad.
The little kid is also cute as hell!

The judge is Alan Rickman also known as Profesor Snape.
Last movie I watched was Cloverfield. It gets a solid 8/10. I fell in love with Marlena.

Oh God, I hope to high Heaven that Alan Rickman doesn't go down in history as the guy who played Professor Snape in Harry Potter.
He was Metatron in "Dogma", one of the best movies EVER. But I hope his signature role will always be Hans Gruber in the original "Die Hard"; that movie got him get all the villian roles he's gotten so far :rotflmao

Sweeney Todd - 8.6 l 1O
I absolutely love this movie. The songs are done very nicely, and Johnny's voice really works well with the songs. My absolute favourite song from the movie would have to be Epiphany, although I really like No Place Like London as well. The cast was great. And I even like the dark atmosphere in the movie, for it has been brought out very well.
Alan Rickman was such a pedo judge.
All in all, I really enjoyed the movie; being I'm a huge fan of Depp's and Tim Burton's works, as well as I enjoy musicals a lot. However, I have issues with the ending personally. I'm nowhere near expecting a bubbly, cheerful, and happy ending; but . . .ugh, I can't even start to write what I'm trying to convey. Anyway, it's worth a watch.

It's an 'old' flick but for me it was new^^ Monster House 7,5/10
Great film and it definitely left me scared a few times:D that's good, especially if you're watching it alone at night XDDD such a wuss I am! But yeah, the animation was top notch and in some scenes it just looked like a real person was in the shot instead of the 3-D figure! lol, the voice cast was funny and just a good flick overall. With some scenes I had trouble because for little kids it would've been a bit too mature...but hey..apparently not all animations are made for children anymore^^
I thought some bits were going on too long and that made it a bit boring at times..but still..nice one to watch sometimes at night, perhaps Oktober 31st.

Over her dead body 7.5/10
Am not sure if i found it funny because me and my friend kept cracking jokes or the fact my two friends cried at the end of it and we just laughed. I dunno its been better than some of the trashy flicks i have seen anyways. IT ALSO HAD MIKE FROM FRIENDS WTF WHEN WAS HE IN MOVIES O_O. And yeah it had a parrot in which i kept going "Aww bless it" all the way through the film, maybe my bird loving self was the reason why it got a high rating but yeah am lame shoot me for it. The storyline wasn't bad even thought it kind was Cliché and stuff but yeah it had its funny moments and you had to laugh at it even if you didn't find it funny. The fact it was the afterlife and heaven i think did it for me because it would be so funny to spy on a guy you were meant to marry and them try and ake his GF's life hell when there the only one who can see you.
Saint Trinians's - 2/10
Why the heck i was dragged to see this I have no idea. It was awful. I could have written something better myself blind. I only found it funny because Russell Brand was in it and this guy who played a guy and a woman and he was just strange through the whole thing. The rest was pointless and so just not funny. So glad you guys don't have to see such a crap UK remake of a film Jeeze.

Not exactly old movies but they're new to me ^_^
Superbad- 9/10
Like the title says, it's all about superbad high school kids who get caught up trying to buy booze for last party of their senior year. Michael Cera and Jonah Hill are hillarious as hell playing best friends. Also, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Fogell/McLovin is a laugh riot XD It's a smart comedy.
Secretary- 10/10
It's all about a secretary who engages in a "special" relationship with her lawyer boss. Maggie Gyllenhaal is excellent as the slightly neurotic Lee Holloway, and James Spader fits the lawyer role quite nicely. The storyline plays out like a fairy tale romance with some slickly twisted elements.

Based on a true story, after graduation a guy goes on an adventure without telling his parents and without ever contacting them. He meets a lot of interesting characters and sees a lot of beautiful places.
Run, Fat Boy, Run (7.5/10)
A comedy about a guy who decides to run a marathon to prove to himself an his ex that he can change and is not a total loser.
Stardust (8/10)
A scifi comedy about a boy who sets out to find a fallen star to bring back to the girl he wants to marry. It has a great cast, special effects and it really is a fun story. You won't be disappointed, it's very enjoyable.
Jumper (8/10)
A guy discovers that he can teleport to places he has been before when he falls into a lake and gets trapped under the ice. He decides to leave home and live an exciting life traveling all over the world. His fun comes to an abrupt halt when a religious cult finally catches up to him some years later. It based on a true story about a bank robbery but the true reason for robbing the bank is kept hidden from the robbers for most of the movie. ^ Based on a novel, isn't it? The movie is based on one of the 3 books in series by the same author. Haven't watched it, though. But I might.
Watched Stardust with a friend yesterday. It's a load of 'Hollywood' crap because the movie spins itself around their own cheesy definition of 'love'. Though, I really dislike the dim witted bimbo the male lead was interested in early in the story.
The only funny and slightly redeeming aspect of this movie is Michelle Pfeiffer. She cracked me up halfway through. o_o''

Yeah well, Hollywood demoralise the first girl the male lead fell in love with. They made her character as someone materialistic and snobbish - and so the audience wouldn't feel the least bit of sympathy for her when the male lead fell in love with another girl. In the book, I heard that the first girl wasn't too bad.
Anyway you know things change when it is Hollywoodised.
They probably change the way the witches died, or the way the male lead's father fell in love with his mother (a princess in the magical world of Stormhold) because in the movie, it took the father like 2 minutes to fall in love at first sight with the mother, and 5 mins to kiss, and 7 mins to end up doing each other and gave birth to the male lead 9 months after.
So after all that, they had the nerve to give a hearty speech about 'true love' when the guy grew up and fell in love with a fallen star. Please. -_-
Oh, and the father, after doing the mother, didn't even go back to look for her after that. It's like a night in Magical Brothel or something and he promptly forgotten about it until one day his son in a basket arrived for him from the Other World across the wall.
True love. Har har.

Jumpers 3/10
This movie was made of fail. The hero's a jerk, his girlfriend's rather dumb, and the only redeeming character of the movie gets stuck on a power line in the middle of a warzone because he and the hero had some lover's spat.
Something I've noticed after my recent movie marathons: why do all make out sessions lead to sex? The MC and his girlfriend go to Rome and he gets instasex. (Never mind the fact he was supposed to have DROWNED IN A RIVER the last time she saw him and he never explained it.) In The Lost Room miniseries, MC meets some chick and they have wild crazy monkey love for no evident reason. Same thing happened in The Waitress, though the main character was pretty starved for love (if that's an excuse.) It's annoying watching the movie and then POOF! SEX TIME!

The Eye is the most recent movie that I went to theaters for, as for watching movies at home, my most recent was I Am Legend.
The Eye was pretty good, for some reason the spirt things in this movie creeped me out more than I thought they would. I'd give it a 8/10, just because I expected a little more from this one.
I Am Legend, in my opinion this was amazing. I loved the flashbacks and the mutants were pretty cool too. I was sorta expecting something like the ending, yet it was awesome. Someone showed me the alternate ending to the movie, and I think I liked the one they put in the movie alot better. I would glady buy this movie. 10/10

i'll give it a 7/10.

National Treasure 2: book of secrets was a pretty good film though the 'I wanna clear mah name' concept was too sissy and dumb.

i just saw that too....it wasn't as bad...but still not as good as the other movies =___= they pretty much combined a whole bunch of movies xD including star wars, national treasure, pirates of the caribbean, and even Tarzan lmao xD
the old indiana jones were mostly trap things, while this one is like solving a puzzle instead...but i did the like Shia LaBuff moments xD (dunno if ispelled his name right :lmao)

Indeed Indy 4 was a lot like a National Treasure knock off, which is weird because NT is a knock off of Indy.
I watched Knocked Up last night on DVD. 9/10 I really liked it, made me laugh at some moment. It was a comedy with an actual story to tell.

I saw Indiana Jones 4 on Saturday and I loved it. I walked out of the movies with a massive grin on my face, whistling the theme tune. I mean what were you people expecting?
To everyone who didn't like the new Indy movie. What's not to like? They used the Indy formula: Take an actual archaeological concept, make up a legend with zero basis in fact, carry the plot through to completely illogical conclusions and finally add a large dollop of the supernatural and some awesome fight scenes. And don't forget the hat and whip.
I mean is what happened any weirder than the Ark of the Covenant having the power to melt the skin off people, but only if they look at it? Or a guy who can tear out people's hearts with his bare hands, who is randomly collecting magical stones and using mind control potions to create an army of child slaves? Or magical cups that transform water into either healing potions or poisons?
I mean really?
Also I found this on another forum I think it's awesome:
I can't believe this. Indiana Jones wore this fucking hat and he used a whip, what was up with that? And I can't believe that sometimes things didn't go the way he planned them. And what's all this shit with him making smartass remarks? And why were there beautiful women in the movie?
And do you mean to tell me that you never know who is on the level in the movie? And that the villains, all uniformed and ominous, are lead by a heartless creep with an interest in the paranormal?
Seriously. What was up with this movie. It was everything I expected. What the fuck.

Watched 2 new movies.
Hot Fuzz for the second time 10/10. I love that movie, huge Edgar Wright fan.
Road to Perdition. 9/5/10. It reminded me of the Godfather, with its great cinematography and use of dialogue (very little but subtle and great at moments). Truly became a favorite after the credits rolled. Jude Laws character looked cool.

I don't care for too many movies, but I was kinda forced by a group of friends to go see Prince Caspian whenever it came out. When it was done...I kind of felt like the whole thing was one boring blur. The first movie was so much better. 4/10.

Currently watching Indy Jones: Kingdom of the crystal skull
is pretty interesting...though i knew about certain crap from the beginning>.>
Let's see how it will unfold.
EdiT: just watched it fully and i must say, it was pretty weak>.< Okay sure some bits were so funny but the plot itself..there wasn't really any. The bit i hated the most was the fact that they put ''.......'' in the movie..so dumb.
Shia Labeouf was cute though xD
I was quite dissapointed with Cate Blanchett though. Her accents changed alot of times, I think she could've done that better. her acting was great though.

just saw The Orphanage~ it didnt let me down. this movie gets u all excited from the beginning till the end, and it worths every money spent on the movie ticket ;) um, just like Pan's Labyrinth, the ending is either sad or happy or in between, depends on how u prefer to interpret it. i must say that Guillermo del Toro is just awesomeness! can't wait for Hellboy 2 ;D --------->9/10
ooh, and i saw Indiana Jones last week. overall, it was such an enjoyable watch. i wasnt surprised with the "....." xD the setting and time frame fit the "....." quite well imo. and Cate Blanchett (sp?) was wow. -----------> 7.5/10

I watched Sex and the City only cos i got to see Iron Man afterwards, compromisation ftw!!. It wasn't bad its just there was a lot of screaming and yelling at random times and not like during sex but just raising voices for no reason...it happened alot, it was weird. 7/10
Iron Man was very well written, acted, and just really made the way a comic book movie should be made. to put it short it was the anti-fantastic 4 (1 &2:yell)

I FINALLY finished watching Disturbia (only because of Shia Labeouf<333). I thought the cast was pretty random, especially seeing David Morse play the villian and all. he looked so old. I really liked Aaron Yoo aswell, he's awesome! But the girl..shoot me now, she so cannot act, i don't understand how they could've given her the part. so wrong.
pretty fun flick to watch, minus the girl and the pretty crappy ending.
7/10
Die Hard
It's good to see this film again. all i can remember of this flick is the strange, huge office building, the kids and that it's Christmas. It's fun seeing Alan Rickman as the ringleader and also a young Wesley Snipes with glasses? looks interesting^^
I loooove Bruce Willis btw, how can i deny it, eighties baby for the win<333
will review later to give this 20 year old flick a rating.

I finally caught up with the rest of you and saw "Enchanted".
For a Disney movie it was pretty all right. I liked how they mixed up the roles a little for the ending, but the 'couples' that ended up happening was kind of random, imo. I guess everyone had to have a happy ending, no matter what. :p
7.5/10 from me!

The deer hunter (1978)
I've seen this film before, about 8-10 years ago so i couldn't remember much of it, just the russian roulette in Vietnam and that Christopher Walken and Robert de Niro played in it.
So, i wanted to see it again. One might say that this film has too much industrial town and too little war shoved into this 3 hour flick. I say that person is correct.
Though, i also cannot argue that this film is just beautiful. Yes, you can better skip the first hour, yes it's quite boring and yes the actors' abilities will blow you away.
Go see this classic if you have not already.
8/10
P.S. Christopher Walken is incredibly good-looking in this one..he reminds me of someone ^^

Jarhead (2006??) 5,5/10
Too bad nothing was happening while i had anticipated bloody massacres etc. nothing happened at all..though the acting was very good there wasn't really anything that happened. I was literally hoping for shootings/killings but no.
too bad, i was dissapointed.
