Word mistake thread

A thread to talk about all word mistakes/misunderstandings aswell as what you called stuff as a little kid.
Stuff like:
saying something else then you intended(though you don't relise at first) , makeing up weird words, Mistaking a word for something else etc.


In golf i though one of the clubs was called a "Pidegeon wing" since i knew you could make a birdy, an eagle & an Albatros so why not a pidgeon wing aswell:rolleyes:


Can't come up with more in english atm but i've made tons:o:rolleyes:


Well some from my own language called a lampe(lamp) for a "Djum"
Reason was my father used to lightly hit the lampscreen(sp?) made of metal and said Djum when the metal vibrated.


Don't know the logic in this one but called a "gris"(pig) a bed(which sound way more like a "ged"(goat))

Last one i can remember for now would be calling a Vulcan a Vulikan (said in a way like something from a book for kindergarten(the one with an Elephant king wearing a Green outfit)



So what kind of mistakes/misunderstandings have you made?
Hopefully not something with serious consequenses.

Whenever I used to get a sore throat I used to think it was because moss (the moss you see growing on rocks) were itching the insides of my throat. For some odd reason I pictured what was inside my throat as "Litchens". This might be because I felt as though something was itching my throat. I dunno if it counts but that's a misunderstanding from me: Litchens.

I used to think "onomatopoeia" was pronounced like "utopia".

Also, I used to think "bukkake" was a type of fish. Hoo boy, was I wrong.

I once spelled the word epiphany, apifany. Phonetically spelling fails you :)

One of my classmates made one hell of a word mistake today XD

He said he'd been a "livmor"(womb) for some hours a few days ago, he ment "jormor"(a titel given to a person helping a newborn out into our world)

My logic got me laughed at. In English, there are multiple accepted ways to say some words, like 'route' can bee pronounced 'root' or 'raowt' so when I first saw the word 'router' I said 'rooter' instead of 'raowter' and my parents laughed at me and said it HAD to be 'raowter'.

I'm still confused on why you can't use it as 'rooter' @-@ My logic does not accept their reasoning....

I remember when I was a little boy in Math class, we were doing testalations and I stood up when I was finished to get the teacher's attention that I was done first and said "Miss _______ I'm done with my testicles!" I think I said that while being too hyper and fast at speaking >_< Her eyes widened and I was sent into the closet :(

I used to think 'Volleyball' was prounced 'ballyball' XDD

I also used to call 'stuffed animals' 'stuff up an animals.' ...also I used to say that 'liposuction' was lifeo-suction' haha I'm sure I had more but I can't remember.

i lol'd at avi ^_______________^;;;; well actually when i was very young my friends discovered i didn't know what 'pubic hair' meant. they found it to be very funny >=((((((((((((((((((( so when i was alone with one friend i asked what 'pubic hair' meant.. guess what answer i got?!

SO later... my friends called a group of guys and they were all like staring at me like they were expecting something to happen and one of my friends asked me "HEY *GIGGLE* DO YOU KNOW WHAT PUBIC HAIR MEANS!? *GIGGLE* "
