I've got an iRiver iFP-1095
http://www.nadavi.com.ua/jpg_zoom1/34496.jpg
iRiver make the best mp3 players :p. Not aesthetically but functionality, durability, sound quality, everything! They are superior XD.
Might as well stick in headphones/earphones too:p
Earphones I have the Shure e3c's.
http://www.dmcworld.co.nz/images/standard/shure-e3c.jpg
Quite expensive but worth every cent! They're in ear earphones as you can see from the shape. More trebly but its not like the bass is non-existent. They give perfect sound, especially vocals.
Headphones I have the Logitech FreePulse bluetooth headphones.
http://www.trustedreviews.com/images/article/inline/4069-IMG0512s.jpg
They give me about 10m of range. The sound quality is extremely good, not as good as the Shure e3c's of course but very good. They are very comfortable and don't leak sound. The bass is very strong too. I'd recommend them to anyone.
I got a feeling everyone's gonna say iPod x3 I just don't like them with a passion haha, not because I hate the mainstreamness but more like people not researching before they buy. They just buy it because everyone has one.

AND YES PEOPLE THEY ARE GOOD AND THERE BATTERY DOESN'T KONK UP I HAVE HAD MINE NEARLY 2 YEARS SO THERE.
At the start there a bit hmm nmmm but now not had 1 problem with the iPod at all. Runs smooth, blows up your ears when your sleeping and has all the functions i need for an iPod.
The earphones i have are:

People complain how crap they are like they don't stay in there ears but they do with mine xD and there sound quality rules.

MP3 Player
iPod Nano (Product) Red 4Gb
Small and portable and I take it with me everywhere I go. Second generation Nanos are a vast improvement over the first. And the aluminium casing measn they don't get scratched as easily, although I do have a nice case for it too!
http://www.mp3-music-player.com/news/06_11/images/ipod-nano-red.jpg
Earphones:
Bang and Olufsen A8
These pair of earphones are a real steal. I found them off eBay for less than 70 bucks, when they usually retail for more than double. Highly audiophile, and you can actually listen clearly to each and every sound that the instruments make clearly, not like the crappy stock earphones that come with the iPod. Plus, they look hella good.

well, nowadays mobile phones do double up as mp3 players. my current phone, a sony ericsson, was used as an mp3 player for a year or so till i got my ipod. its convenient and you wouldn't need to carry something extra that way. guess samsung's phone making and mp3 making dpeartment got lazy with this? xD

Sonny Erricson phones then is what you want, there like buolt to have like memory cards slotted in to store music. Why i like my phone because if my iPod batterys dead i have that. I mean it doesn't store as much but enough. Or you could get that new samsung phone that switches over into an MP3 player.

What kind of horror stories did you hear? I've had mine for more than a year now, still works fine ^^ The player itself is only 1GB, but I added a 2GB memory card to it. Travelled half way around the world with this little guy, and I have no problems so far. If you're talking about sound quality, then I can tell you it's not the best ... even my crappy Curtis has better bass than it, but if you can find a good pair of earphones, it makes quite a bit of difference.

Its not that hard really. Just look around at all the major manufacturers. iRiver, Creative, Sony, Samsung, Gigabeat, etc, there are heaps of them but its not that hard haha.
I think the truth is there can't be an ipod killer. They're just too popular right now to be beaten. But yes, true, there are way better things out there. An older model iRiver such as the H320 can wipe the floor with the ipod. It does everything the ipod and its extensions do together and its so many years older!

But yeah thats why its so hard....I want something where people say "Holy crap screw apple I want what Shadoblaks packin'!" I did figure that if I wanted 8gb from apple then I'd be spending 250 bucks and if i was going to do that i may as well spend the extra 50 bucks and get a 30gb Video iPod..This was at the beginning Now I figure, if I'm gonna spend 300 freaking bucks, I may as well get the Creative Zen Vision Widescreen which looks like the god iPods pray to XD

Yeah, thats the general argument...I absolutely love the iTunes interface to death (I have iTunes on my computer and my phone) but theres no denying that there are better overall players out there...And Aple wont release better versions until the current versions stop selling....So I think they need some stiff competition..

actually you wouldn't need to get a case for scratches, because the ipod comes with its own dust free case which does well enough to protect the ipod. but if you're like me, and are afraid of the scratching, you'd get a screen protector like this one i got
http://www.handhelditems.com/ipod-video-crystal-clear-film-shield-protector-diofilm-p-4774.html
it really protects the ipod from all manner of surface scratches
oh yeah, and if you did eventually decide to get an ipod, do post pics :p

since when were ipod users pragmatic? ;)
but yeah, i'd hit the ipod touch if it had more space or the classic if i didn't recently buy my ipod 30gb *curses*
hahaha XD
:o
Meh, those 80 gigs would really come in useful though...I'm almost at 40 and my 30 gig is crying. It's still in really good condition though, so I guess I'll just wait and see....>.<

How do you use 30 gigabytes?
I have a 6GB Sony NW-A1000, and only half of that's full :D
It's pretty good, though, especially since I got sent it instead old 1GB thing when that gotr sent off to be fixed. Well, 5 extra gigabytes, proper menus...I'm not complaining ;)
And then I have the cheapest earphones I can find in the supermarket, because there's no point in me buying expensive ones - I tend to chew things, whatever's to hand, and headphone wires by your face definitely count, so I chew off the plastic and kill them :o

30 gigs go by really quickly...especially if most of it is illegal. And if you use torrent files and download entire discographies instead of Limewire. XD
hahaha I'd hate to be your earphones...I spent so much time looking for acceptable earphones in China...sadly, none existed that were cheap enough. All had pretty bad sound quality or weren't long enough or were too expensive. >.< I just want ones that are comfortaaabllleeee. *flaaaiiillll*

i dunno about you but my ipod is always full of videos. i hardly keep any music in there. i have a large collection, but i don't listen to most of the songs all the time, so i only put in select albums and i haven't gotten bored yet.. xD still doesn't change the fact that i'm perpetually out of space cus i do store lots of movies and anime on my ipod. makes the train ride home less boring.

I've tried putting movies and stuff on there...I've settled for having one episode of Scrubs (My Musical. ^.^) on it...but anything with subs makes my eyes hurt cuz the screen is so small. >.<

Agreed...The new video ipod nano's look like giant chicklets -_____-With 8 gbs of space and a tiny screen, its impractical and doesnt look as portable as it should...Who decides the square shape was better than the bar??????

Nah, it's not as bad as it looks.
And the new iTouch...if you're going to shell out that much money, I'd rather just get an iPhone. Wait...if I already have a plan with AT&T, and I buy an iPhone, can I just shift that plan to my new phone?
Tomodachi69
09-11-2007, 02:06 AM
Uh.... I'm not sure. I know that you can switch phones when you renew your plan and contract with them, and consequently, you can get deals and junk, bt switching midplan... dunno how that works. I imagine you can just buy the phone, though.
negativzero
09-11-2007, 02:11 AM
think they made t square in order to accomodate the video screen, else it'd be too small to watch.
the iTouch isn't available here yet, and when it is, i bet its gonna cost a bomb! not sure about the plans and pricing guys, but i suppose with any new phone, they'll make u get a new one or renew ur old one, else they would charge you more for just purchasing the phone i think.
Tomodachi69
09-11-2007, 02:15 AM
Yes, purchasing while mid-plan costs more. You only get discounts on prices when you switch and start new contracts; otherwise, you pay full price.
Hmm, atm, iirc, the iTouch costs 300 and 400. Not sure about the iPhone, but it's a buttload of money.
aznxenocide
09-11-2007, 03:20 AM
Ah, kay thanks for the info.
Nah, iTouch and iPhone are pretty similar in costs...299 for an 8 gb iTouch, 399 for 8 gb iPhone. Of course, that's without the plan.

I used to have a 30Gb iPod but my history with Apple products isn't good. I first had a lime green ipod mini and the battery died a year after I bought it. My second ipod was the white 30gb iPod and it got stollen. My third and last ipod was a black 30gb one and I gave that one to my mum 'cause I fell in love with the Zune. I bought the pink Zune and I love it! I can watch my anime, music videos, movies, etc and then listen to music, the radio and songs that I don't have but my friends give me through their own Zunes. :D I like it and so far (I've had it for a month now) it has not done anything wrong or acted up. It's good.
The only thing I don't like about the Zune is the software... but other than that it's great.

I have a 20 gig 3rd gen iPod (it's the type with the buttons on the top) that's about 4 years old and still kicking, but since I fear it's coming death, I got a Touch when it first came out. They really should re-name it the iPod Smudge. You try to clean it with a cloth, but you're just spreading the finger grease around.

The ipod touch does get smudges easily.. i agree. but its barely noticable when the screen is in use. smudges are a huge pet peeve of mine and it BARELY bothers me on the touch. Plus they have tons of screenprotectors that advertise the whole "smudgefree" thing.. I dont have any experience with them but if its an issue for you, you might want to look into it.
