Welcome to the Ishida Uryuu & Kurosaki Ichigo FC.
We think this pair rocks, fighting back to back, to defend what's most important. Bromance? Maybe. Ally? Why not?

As with any fanclub on Bleach Asylum, we have some simple but important rules to follow:
* Stay on topic, as related to the character/pairing of your fan club.
* If you do not like a pairing DO NOT read or post in that pairing FC. If you have an issue with something said in a fan club, use the report button or PM a mod, DO NOT take it into your own hands or start a war. This could result in an temp ban with no warning at the mods discretion.
* Do not discuss other pairings in your pairing fan club OR characters from a rival paring not apart of your paring. The FC should only discuss the specified pairing or character. This will be handled with quickly at the mods discretion. Posts will be deleted without warnings. Single/Multiple offenses could result in a temp ban without warning, depending on the severity and frequency. These rules apply to everyone on the forums, including owners and co-owners of fan clubs.
* Neg reps to rival pairing FC posts won't be tolerated. This is considered being in an FC of a pairing you don't like therefore breaking a rule. There are no warnings for this, this is a ban-able offense on the first time.
* If a fan club owner is inactive in an FC but active on BA and you want to take over the FC, seek their permission via vm or pm first.
* FC owners cannot make specific rules that must be followed. If there are problems in the FC click the report post button or PM a moderator.
For a full list, refer to FC rules posted here (http://bleachasylum.com/showthread.php?73-Fan-Club-Rules).

You and I are Shinigami and Quincy. I know our views are polar opposite. If you think my views are wrong, you are welcome to watch from here.
Your story is too long! It doesnt make any sense. Your story was so long I forgot the first half!
It wasn't the shinigami acknowledging the strength of the Quincy. It was working along with the Shinigami, wasn't it?!
So if you won't do that now, when will you?!
Shinigami and Quincy are exact opposites! That's just fine!
In a fight against a large number of enemies, the best way to go about it is back to back!

[Ichigo finishes another hollow brought by the hollow bait, and attempts to find Uryuu to stop him ]
After this is Ishida! I'll make him cry and fix this mess!
[Uryuu in a telepathy moment to Ichigo]
I wonder if you can muster the power to find me?
... find me?
... find me?
... find me?
..............
Shut up! I'll definitely find you soon. Damn it!
Don't under estimate how good my instincts are, ISHIDA!
Hurry up and get Rukia's cell phone to me, KO-N!
-- Ch44, Awaken to the Threat, p9
Your story is rather long too. But I understand completely. In brief, If either of us do not survive here...
It means we'll lose the one we're going to beat up.
.............
...... FANTASTIC!
I'll make you cry afterwards!
By all means. If you survive, that is.
-- Ch46, Karneades Back to Back
Well, I figured if I could cut his feet and work my way up, then the head would fall down last...

-- Ch48, Menos Grande
[Uryuu ties Zangetsu on to his head as Ichigo holds on to his Zanpakuto]
OK! PREPARATION COMPLETE!
NOW WE CAN FIGHT HIM!
You are

An idiot... Aren't you?
-- Ch49, Unchained
[Ichigo after being rescued by Urahara after his first meeting with Kuchiki Byakuya and Abarai Renji]
Oh right! Did you also find Uryuu? How is he? Is he here too?
[Urahara]No sir. He's already gone. He lost a lot of blood, but his injury wasn't vital.[...]
[Urahara]When he left... he was worried ... about you
About me? Yeah right.
[Urahara]I even told him to rest here for a moment...
[... flashback ...]
Thank you for tending to me. However, I am fine.
Instead... please... treat Ichigo
Right now... The only one that can beat those bastards... is not me.
Please... heal Ichigo...
The only one that can save Rukia... is him.
-- Ch57, Unfinished July Rain
[Human nakama meets outside Urahara store in preparation for saving Rukia in SS]
Did you walk all the way here wearing that weird clothing?
you're very brave

Did something happen to Ishida? (looks around)
[Chad] He's preoccupied with Ishida not showing up when he wants him to. That's Ichigo for you.
-- Ch183, Eyes of the Unknown
[Uryuu explains the loophole of the promise he made to Ryuuken to Ichigo]
WHAAAAAT?!
Who cares whether or not soul society is involved, I'm a shinigami, so it's the same, right?
Not quite. You're just an "agent acting as a shinigami"
Besides, you've already been thrown away by soul society
.....
In other words, right now you are neither shinigami or their comrade.
So for me to be here breaks no part of my promise.
..... That's some messed up logic
Just admit that I've found a paradox in the promise.
THAT'S WHY I'M SAYING YOU HAVE MESSED UP LOGIC!
You're annoying.
Whose side are you on anyway?
I'M YOUR ENEMY!

Of course it is

[After blowing Yammy down Las Noches and interrupting Ichigo and Ulquiorra's fight]
Ishida...
What's this? You have questions in the middle of a fight? You're such a slacker.
-- Ch344, The Pride
Do you have...
... any other questions?
I didn't have a single question to begin with
You just started blabbling on your own
... you're such a pain in the ass
-- Ch344, The Pride
[Ichigo prepares to engage Ulquiorra again after Ishida's arrival]
I'm entrusting Inoue to you
If her rikka becomes unable to bloack my reiatsu
Protect her with your body
---- I planned on that. I didn't need you to say anything.
-- Ch344, The Pride
[Uryuu holds on to Hollow Ichigo's wrists to stop him from killing Ulquiorra]
... That's enough .... Kurosaki
It's finished. He's an enemy, but there's no need to carve up his corpse
So that's enough, Kurosaki...
[Hollowfied Ichigo does not remove his sword away from Ulquiorra's beaten body]
Can't you hear me, Kurosaki....?! I'm telling you to stop....!
If you do that.... you truly won't be human anymore....!
[Zangetsu moves closer to Ulquiorra's throat]
KUROSAKI!!!
-- Ch352, The Lust 6
Slashed....?! What's he talking about Ishida?!
[Uryuu behind the hospital curtains]
... its none of your business...
The hell it isn't! You got your ass kicked!!
If you couldn't do anything by yourself then we have to work together, right?!
[Silence from Uryuu]
Say something!
-- Ch430, Welcome to our Execution 2
If he was alive, they should have told you so, and if he was dead they should have told you the reason at least
If soul society didn't do either it probably means they didn't know it themselves...
...I should have told you when I first thought about it. I couldn't imagine this would happen...
... Ishida...
GOTCHA!
[Ichigo kicks Uryuu from behind]
OUCH!
Ku...Kurosaki, you--!
WHO CARES!
Its not like telling me would've made me careful, and I'm sure I would've forgotten right away!
Stop complaining forever about stuff that already happened! Dumbass!!
...You're not much different
DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?
[Uryuu adjusts his glasses]
Not really.
-- Ch464, Quiet Chamber, Noisy Heart
[Ryonosuke]And weren't you supposed to go help him!?
No worries. the enemy's reiatsu already disappeared.
Anyway, there's no way Kurosaki would lose to such a guy. I had no intention to help him from the start.
[Chad]He said it out loud... Actually I did want to help...
[Orihime smiling]
?
What's the matter, Inoue-san?
[Orihime]hm?
[Orihime]Nothing, Ishida-kun.
[Orihime]I was just thinking that you really became friends with Kurosaki-kun. And I really like that side of you.
Wait! If you want to make fun of me, do it in a way that I can understand!
-- Ch485, Foundation Stones
... I'm sorry, I can't come with you this time
Right. After all, ... Quincys exist to destroy hollows.
[Orihime]Ishida-kun...
[Chad]Ishida.....
I knew you'd say that. But then you'd be sulking if I hadn't called you too.
.... You

[1] Ishida Uryuu/Kurosaki Ichigo FC : Ishida / Ichigo Love (prior to BA revamp)

I am very happy that Belias told me that I can continue my work as owner of the four FCs together with the original owner partners. My favourite character is Ishida but I am also a big fan of the Ishida and Ichigo friendship. The idea to become an owner of this FC as well was very attractive to me when Otome-san offered me the ownership in the previous version.
But for being able to be an owner I needed the partnership of a person who can do the technical side of a FC like maintaining a member list. Fortunately Silverquord was prepared to form a team with me. Also because it worked so well in the other two Ishida FCs I am active in as owner, we decided to be an owner team.
Silverquord and me are also working together as owners in this new version. We are determined to also rebuild this FC. It will take time but Silverquord will put all the past features she added back together again. It looked great in the past. This work was interrupted and lost before it could be finished. I am sure the end result will be even better!
I am glad that we still have the gorgeous banner Otome-san provided for this FC. First of all, it shows Ishida and Ichigo as Shinigami and Quincy. They are close together, nearly back to back, ready to fight as equals in a team. It is beautifully done! This is exactly what I am hoping to see eventually in Bleach when Ishida is back. It also reflects their friendship very nicely.
We will do what we can to help to offer a welcoming environment, something that is very important to us. I hope you enjoy your stay and I am looking forward to many interesting discussions. Please pay attention to the rules of conduct of this FC.
Please let us know if you would like to be added on the member list. Everybody is welcome! Silverquord will add your names as soon as she finds the time.
The original version started as a place in which Ishida and Ichigo were primarily discussed as a yaoi pairing. Me personally, I see their relationship as a strong, beautiful friendship although not in the intimate sense. But I have nothing against yaoi at all. I have read fanfiction that treats Ishida and Ichigo as a love interest, as lovers, also as a married couple. A lot of it is beautiful, sensitive work. If some people want to talk about yaoi here, they are very welcome to do so!
I intend to focus on the special friendship Ichigo and Ishida have. I don`t think it will ever be of an intimate kind in “canon” Bleach but nevertheless, it is a very powerful and special relationship.
I think the concept of Yin and yang describes their relationship best:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yin_and_yang
“Yin and Yang are not opposing forces (dualities), but complementary forces, unseen and seen, that interact to form a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system.”
The relationship between Ichigo and Ishida has not reached that level, not yet. But I can see that one day they might reach that potential. I very much hope so!
The starting point of their relationship is reflected in Bleach volume 4. Tite Kubo wrote this poem: “We are drawn to each other like drops of water, like the planets. We repulse each other like magnets, like the colours of our skin.”
I very much agree with the sentiment that Rukia changed Ichigo`s world in more than one way when she chose to share her powers with him and he became a Shinigami. I think Ichigo did the same for Ishida: He opened a new world for him when he reached out to him, offering his friendship. Ishida never had any friends since his grandfather died and even then, he had no friends his own age. Ichigo became his first friend and Ishida began to learn what that means. Thanks to Ichigo he also finally understood what his grandfather really wanted, how misguided he was when he challenged Ichigo to this irresponsible contest. He also started to come to terms with his grandfather`s death.
Because of Ichigo Ishida got to know the world of the Shinigami himself. He learned what this world is really like. Ichigo on the other hand learned to value the friendship of the last Quincy, the last member of a race with a proud, ancient heritage.
A lot of time went past since these beginnings and especially with the start of the latest arc we can see very clearly that the situation is much more complicated than it seemed to be so long ago, that there is so much both of them don`t know (and we fans are discovering this as well).
The biggest challenge of their friendship lies ahead of them. What Ishida will soon have to deal with will be overwhelming. But also Ichigo is facing revelations about himself, about his family that are changing him forever. I am sure that Tite Kubo will not make it easy for them. I expect some drama, maybe even a crisis between them. But no matter what Kubo has in mind, I am confident that Ichigo and Ishida will emerge stronger from their trials. It will also bring them closer together.
Both of them will learn that they are two halves of a whole, that when they learn to combine their strengths, their abilities, they can grow further and become stronger together.
Ichigo and Ishida already made such an attempt at the very beginning of Bleach, when Ishida took Ichigo`s power right out of his sword, when he suggested the crazy plan to boost his powers by using Ichigo`s Shinigami powers. I think it would have worked. And I think we will see that it will work when Ishida gains his full potential, his Vollstaendig.
The lesson both sides, Quincy and Shinigami, have to learn is that it no longer matters who started what – it has to stop. It has to stop for both their sakes or there won`t be a future for anyone. There have been mistakes, missed opportunities and atrocities on both sides. The path Quincies and Shinigami are on now will lead to mutual destruction if nothing changes. Both of them have to find a new way to move forward.
My prediction is that both of them, Ichigo and Ishida, will work together to find an answer to the difficult question that is how to defeat the Vandenreich without destroying the future of the Quincies – and how to bring both sides together and motivate them to become allies, maybe even friends in future.
By exterminating the Quincies the Shinigami created their own worst enemy. The Quincies are on the path of self destruction but the collapse of the worlds will also be the end of the Shinigami. The Quincies don`t seem to care and the Shinigami have a difficult choice to make: Do they allow history to repeat itself and become consumed with hatred and revenge? Or do they try to find a way to build a future together with the Quincies, a future in which both races could complement each other, benefit each other and grow stronger together?
I want to be an optimist and predict that at the very end of Bleach, both races will find a way out. But it will be a long, painful process involving a lot of sacrifices.
Since the beginnings of Bleach I was left with the impression that Ichigo and Ishida are the most important characters in Bleach and that it is them who will shape the future of both races – if there are surviving Quincies. Yamamoto is dead and Bach seems to be stuck in the past, unable and unwilling to break this self destructive spiral of revenge and counter-revenge.
It seems change has to come from the younger generations, from people like Ichigo who already left such a big impact on the Soul Society and not only there. I know that Ichigo is the main character and therefore it will be him who will eventually face the final battle alone, who makes the main difference. But I hope that Kubo will leave some room for Ishida as well to shine at his side, as his friend and as equal partner.
Hopefully it won`t be too long any more until Ishida returns in the manga.

These are older texts from my files. Maybe they can help to start some new good discussions. Unfortunately I don`t have the time and energy to rewrite these postings. They are obviously replies to other postings.
(Part 1 / 3)
The latest chapter included this beautiful but also very interesting colour picture. It seems to tell us that the origin story dealing with the history of the Kurosakis, the Ishidas and Urahara will begin soon in earnest.
http://i997.mangapanda.com/bleach/523/bleach-3844639.jpg
Before it starts I thought I should answer some of the questions from the first page myself:
What is your favourite Ichigo & Uryuu scene?
I have three and it is impossible for me to prioritize. All three of them are very important when it comes to the relationship between Ichigo and Uryuu.
The first one is a scene from the beginnings of their friendship (Chapter 47: Back to Back Tearing Sky)
http://i26.mangapanda.com/bleach/47/bleach-1586442.jpg
Seeing them standing together like this, back to back, in harmony with each other still makes me smile. I also read the previous pages again and enjoyed it to follow how Ichigo guided Uryuu to this moment and Uryuu allowed Ichigo to lead him.
Ichigo is a protector. It is the driving force of his personality. Only when Tite Kubo also introduced Ginjou and his Fullbringers it became more obvious to me that Ichigo has the tendency to attract other powerful beings, forging a group of misfits into a group of friends. The Fullbringers were certainly more of a group of misfits than Ichigo and his nakama. What bound them together was more an alliance for different reasons but not real friendship. But also Ichigo`s friends who became part of that group are misfits with problems to fit in and interact with others. Especially for Uryuu, this was a big step. I am glad that he took this chance and allowed Ichigo to reach him. He put a lot of trust into him, something that is definitely unusual for Uryuu, the loner who tends to avoid people.
Especially Uryuu had to learn a lot in this regard. In this scene Ichigo and Uryuu built the foundation of their friendship and it was also the beginning of understanding each other. This is an ongoing process. There is certainly a lot Ichigo doesn`t know about Uryuu and he also doesn`t understand him sometimes even now.
Their bickering, the passion both of them are showing when they team up also reflected by Ichigo`s trademark grin and Uryuu showing one of his rare small smiles show an early bond that is already pretty strong. No matter that Ichigo and Uryuu are also very different people, both of them realize that they are equals, that both of them are warriors. No matter that the aspect people call being “frenemies” and a by now friendly rivalry between Quincy and Shinigami is still there, there is no doubt about it that both of them very much care for each other and also respect each other. They are terrible at showing it to each other but that doesn`t change this at all.
My second choice is probably the one most people would choose. It is from the dome story (Chapter 350: The Lust 6)
http://i4.mangapanda.com/bleach/352/bleach-2402587.jpg
What Ishida did by placing his one still working hand on that of the monster his best friend had become, trying to stop him from mutilating Ulquiorra any further, is nothing else but amazing. It adds to it that Ishida is first of all a thinker not only in battle. When he acts he doesn`t do it rashly but after thinking about the consequences very carefully. Ishida knew perfectly well what he was doing. He knew that he had no chance whatsoever to defend himself should IchiThing attack him but he was determined to try to reach him, saving his humanity, even if it costs him his life.
I could see that Ishida was never afraid of what will happen to him. Obviously his friendship with Ichigo matters so much to him that his own life doesn`t seem to be that important. Instead I could see that his fear for Ichigo`s humanity was growing. Ishida is usually such a quiet person. Seeing him pleading so desperately and close to tears (at least in the anime, the voice acting was amazing!) and being rewarded for his selflessness by being impaled by Zangetsu, it took my breath away.
http://i31.mangapanda.com/bleach/353/bleach-2402535.jpg
Then there is this moving scene, showing Ishida`s gentle and relieved smile on his pained face. He is just glad to have his friend back. He knows that what happened was not Ichigo`s fault. He doesn`t blame him at all and is first of all relieved. Also this image shows the selfless, loyal friendship Ishida feels for Ichigo so well.
On the other hand, instead of getting any encouragement, not to mention help from his friends, there are also no reactions when Ulquiorra yanks out the sword from Ishida`s body and Ichigo is just eager to continue a fight that has become unnecessary.
I could see clearly how fragile Ichigo`s mind had become, that he realized with growing horror what he had become. He already maimed Ulquiorra once when he was IchiThing. He doesn`t want to do it again as Ichigo. His ramblings that he should be maimed himself only add to it.
But he seemed to be unable and unwilling to really focus on Ishida and face him.
What is your favourite quote?
I very much enjoyed it to see that Ichigo and Ishida already shared the same thoughts when they became friends and this will hopefully also be reflected in the last arc:
Ishida (Chapter 46: Karneades Back to Back):

Ichigo (Chapter 47: Back to Back Tearing Sky):

http://i30.mangapanda.com/bleach/47/bleach-1586428.jpg
Can you imagine that Uryuu and Ichigo would ever fight against each other seriously, maybe even using lethal force?
I can imagine the possibility of a dome-type story in which one of them has been brainwashed by the Vandenreich. Bach already wanted to “re-educate” Ichigo and therefore I think it is more likely that he would become the victim of mind manipulation again. After the dome story and the Fullbring arc, this would be the third time.
On the other hand, I wonder how far Tite Kubo will go when Ishida returns to Bleach. I definitely see the possibility for serious, tragic misunderstandings. When I look at what happened between Ichigo and Ishida starting with the dome story until now, I have to wonder how well both of them will deal with this crisis.
Tite Kubo left a lot of gaps. We have never seen an aftermath of the dome story. There is also the 17 month time jump. The Fullbring arc is also not revealing if Ichigo and Ishida ever talked about what happened and if they worked it out. What we have seen are more examples of Ishida sacrificing himself for Ichigo, Ichigo being upset but without showing any of it to his friend and leaving him behind whenever he is hurt and can`t keep up. Especially in the Fullbring arc I could see how selfless Ishida is. His friendship with Ichigo is truly unconditional. He will always be there for him, no matter what. But from Ishida`s viewpoint, can he really be sure that Ichigo feels the same about him? It would not surprise me if deep down the deep trust Ishida feels for Ichigo has some cracks.
The scenes in which the dying Ulquiorra started to discover what a heart is and the tragedy that Ichigo`s got broken at the same time were very moving but they will always be tainted to me because of the way Ichigo and Orihime literally turned their backs on Ishida, leaving him lying there bleeding, ignored and forgotten.
It is not only the way his friends treated him that got my attention. It also left an impact on me how Uryuu reacted to it – meaning that he didn`t react to it at all. Uryuu was badly hurt but he was conscious and able to communicate. I think if his self-esteem would have been intact he would have said something about it. If that would be Ichigo lying there or Rukia – they would make sure that they get the attention they need and deserve.
I can`t shake the feeling that Ishida still has trouble to understand what a real friendship is. He seems to see himself first of all as being accepted because he is useful, he has powers and fighting experience.
This scene reflects this very well (Chapter 348: The Lust 2):
http://i21.mangapanda.com/bleach/348/bleach-2402753.jpg
This new arc will hopefully finally show Ishida that he is more than that, that he is liked and respected first of all for the person he is and not just for his powers. I want to see that Ishida will finally be integrated more into the group. He is still living like a recluse. Very high on my wish list is a story in which we see his friends fighting for him in “canon” Bleach.
What the Fullbring story showed is another weak spot Ishida has that might become a real problem now. Chad was certainly right when he said that Ishida is complicated. This can indeed be a weakness but also a strength. Ishida has shown both on different occasions. Being a thinker has helped Ishida a lot in the past but on the other hand, when he was put under a lot of emotional stress, lying alone with his thoughts in his hospital bed, he started to overthink things. The confrontation between Ichigo and Ishida in front of Ginjou reflected this very well.
Now that we know that Ichigo`s mother was a Quincy, will this bring him and Uryuu closer together or become a problem for their friendship?
I think eventually it will bring Ichigo and Ishida closer together but this might take time. It very much depends on what Tite Kubo has in mind.
There is so much Ishida will already have to deal with and that Ichigo is half Quincy might be very hard for Ishida to digest at first. It doesn`t help that Ichigo already has shown a Quincy power Ishida hasn`t got and never heard of.
I mentioned my theory in the Ishida FC that Ichigo might one day give his friend this Quincy power with a blood transfusion. But whatever happens, I am confident that Ishida will one day reach his full potential as a Quincy. My hope is that it will be a dramatic but also happy occasion when Ishida achieves his Vollstaendig for the first time. Ichigo joked that he might kill his friend by mistake should he look like Opie but I doubt it that Tite Kubo will do this. It should be beautiful, powerful and really badass – something that will prompt Ichigo to cheer and be happy for his friend.

(Part 2 / 3)
*****
I think without Kon`s arrival he eventually would have. Mayuri would have looked into Ichigo`s situation more, maybe examining the sword in the process – and he would have detected that Ichigo`s Quincy side is becoming active. Now that the Royal Guard arrived, it is good that Ichigo`s secret stays secret for a while longer.
Maybe Uryuu thought that he hasn`t got anything to hide. If Mayuri wants to watch him going to school, hunting hollows and even activities in the bathroom, let him waste his time. But this will change very soon. As soon as Uryuu learns about the Vandenreich and what is going on, the spy bacteria will become a serious problem.
I think he might go to Urahara and ask him for help in this matter. I am sure he wouldn`t go to his father to get his help but it is likely that he will confront him because he never told him the truth. Hm, if he is around for a change, Uryuu could also have a talk with Isshin. This would be really interesting!
Yes, I am sure as well that Ichigo will always have powers that are predominantly Shinigami. If there is a Quincy influence, it will be only few aspects like “Blut”, something he didn`t need to train for and is not complicated to use. I also agree with this: Ichigo never had any talent for Kido. I don`t see why this would change when it comes to the use of complex Quincy techniques.
Orangerebellion, your idea makes a lot of sense. This never crossed my mind but you are right, Uryuu has never been surrounded by Quincy reiatsu, not even a little! This might work.
A saving Ichigo story is also appealing to me although I have a feeling this arc will be about saving Uryuu as well. Already now the latest arc has so many different layers! This won`t be a straight forward arc in which someone needs saving, we reach the end boss, he gets defeated, the end.
It would indeed be a great opportunity for the nakama to shine but there is also the aspect that the Shinigami have to realize that not everybody who is Quincy automatically deserves the death sentence, that Uryuu and also Ichigo are friends who should be trusted.
*****
There are definitely big differences between the writing of the Winter War against Aizen and the new arc so far, the invasion of the Quincies. I agree with you, Saiyan5ninetail that the new arc is still very young and there will definitely be surprises waiting for us. But it is possible to make some observations already.
Before I continue I want to mention that I already posted a lot of this text in the Ishida FC.
First of all, it shows that Aizen is a very dangerous, ruthless villain but he had his limits. This is very visible now looking at what we have seen in the new arc so far. A lot of people die and it can be (nearly) anybody. Aizen has a god complex. He wants to rule and therefore instead of killing his enemies when they are Shinigami he preferred it to teach them a lesson by cutting them down. Destroying the balance of the worlds, annihilating the Soul Society is not in Aizen`s interest. But fighting the Soul King might be.
Another difference is, Tite Kubo changed his writing style. The new arc feels already much more polished and less disjointed. I can see that it is planned very well. I can also see that Tite Kubo is concentrating on the key moments during this invasion. Kubo shows us scenes that reflect best how brutal, how monstrous the Quincies are in this war but also moments, hidden in the past and/or away from the knowledge of the average Shinigami that the lines between the good and the bad guys are very blurred.
It is much better this way. Tite Kubo is concentrating on the essentials but keeps the door open to come back to developments he left out. I am sure, in time and when there is a good opportunity Kubo will show us some flashbacks. Some might be detailed. Others might just give us a few important scenes.
After the wave of fighting is over Kubo can slow down and concentrate on character development, on the aftermath. Kubo wrote the invasion very well but to me it will be more interesting to find out where the story will go from there. I can see a lot of possibilities and I am very curious.
What will happen now between Ichigo and Bach will be very important. Maybe Ichigo`s power outburst will catch Bach by surprise because seeing Ichigo using Blut Vene interrupted his concentration and he ends up badly hurt. He could just retreat with Haschwald, leaving Ichigo behind. But somehow I have the feeling that Bach won`t make that mistake. At the moment I am leaning towards the option that Ichigo will become a prisoner of the Vandenreich. He might end up in the same prison as Harribel.
My guess is that the stage is nearly set up now and only then Tite Kubo will add Ishida to this situation. Kubo already isolated Ishida. He will have to deal with it that he never knew the truth, Ryuuken but also Soken lied to him, prevented him from reaching his full potential and especially with what became of his people.
Especially if it is true that Ichigo absorbed the Quincy Blut technique and used it automatically without having Quincy blood himself, this will be difficult for Ishida to handle after everything else that is already attacking his self esteem. Being a Quincy is what defines Ishida. Not only will Ishida learn that he is the last Quincy following the old teachings that mean so much to him, now he will find out that Ichigo has taken the last source of pride he still had away from him, the feeling that his Quincy powers are special. Shock, anger and disbelief – I think this is what Ishida will feel.
I wasn`t happy about this development. I am still struggling with that idea but after I started thinking about it a bit more, I can see the potential now that Kubo`s approach is not as bad as it seems.
It will take time but Ishida will also need help to find his inner balance again, to regain his self confidence and rediscover his place in the new reality he is faced with. At the same time also Ishida`s friends may have to struggle with their emotions and this might make it difficult at first for some of them to give him the help he needs.
I think eventually Ishida will see his mission as being chosen not just for defending humans and their souls against Hollows but also to save his people from themselves, to find a way to end this war for the sake of all people. I also think eventually Ishida will understand that it doesn`t take anything away from him because Ichigo has absorbed a Quincy ability. Ichigo is Ishida`s best friend and he can be seen as a symbol that humans, Shinigami and Hollows should live together. And if he has a Quincy part as well, it shows that Quincies should be part of this alliance too.
After an initial crisis, maybe Ichigo having this Quincy ability might even bring him and Ishida closer together. As I said, maybe Ichigo will be able to give Ishida the physical Quincy changes needed to use Blut. When it comes to Blut Vene, just seeing Ichigo using it might be enough for him to learn. Ishida is mainly self taught and this includes difficult techniques like Ransotengai.
I wonder how far Ichigo`s Quincy side might develop. Ichigo is a hack and slash type fighter, very different from Ishida. I think at the end Ichigo`s Quincy abilities will be very small but Ishida might be able to teach him something.
At least this way Tite Kubo would be able to develop Ishida`s powers without him being brainwashed and programmed by the Vandenreich in a vulnerable condition, struggling with what happened. Ishida would have time to emotionally heal and develop his full potential among friends. He would also have the opportunity to gain the trust, maybe even friendship of most Shinigami. I very much prefer this path than throwing him from one emotional low to the next. Ishida the suffering hero struggling with his inner demons and sacrificing himself is always a powerful recipe for good stories but this is not all he is. This is not all he has been and I definitely don`t want him to be just that.
I want to see him recover, grow as a person and reach his full potential and be integrated into the resistance against the Vandenreich Quincies. During that time I also want to see opportunities for the fun, gentle side of Ishida to return. I miss seeing his quirks. I think it is important to bring some humour back and give Ishida a break until the next blow comes.
I think it would give a storyline of Ishida being imprisoned by the Vandenreich and being brainwashed much more impact and power when Ishida is at his strongest, at his most confident. If Kubo wants a fight Ichigo vs. Ishida involving lethal powers as well, it should be done when both are on the same level.
*****
Thinking about it, I wonder… It looks like it that Ichigo returns to the World of the Living first and Urahara with his group will return some time later. There could be a good dramatic reason for that.
I agree, Ichigo and Ishida are not comfortable with the idea at all to talk about their feelings towards each other. I noticed that Ichigo had more than one emotional outburst in the Fullbring arc reflecting that he very much cares about Ishida but he only did so when there were no witnesses around and definitely when Ishida himself was unable to appreciate it.
I think if there will be emotional scenes between Ichigo and Ishida, then only when they are alone. Maybe Tite Kubo has something along these lines in mind.
*****
I like dark Bleach a lot and I agree with your assessment that this is “good stuff”, certainly from the point of storytelling. I am ready for a ride on an emotional roller coaster!
Hopefully it won`t get too dark. I also want to see Ichigo and Ishida helping each other, at least trying to! I expect typical Ishida defensive manoeuvres like trying to push his friends away and retreating in his apartment but I hope to see the typical Ichigo stubbornness that won`t allow Ishida to get away with it.
Some male bonding would be great! I am also counting their trademark bickering as bonding, too because it always reflected that they care for each other. I really want to see that now!

(Part 3 / 3)
@ Silverquord
Looking back I most definitely agree: The time when a youngster is making the transition from child to adult is the most crucial and when it comes to Uryuu and Ichigo, a lot of factors come to play, more than the average person in the late teens has to deal with.
Tite Kubo has the opportunity to explore so much here! It seems that Tite Kubo will start soon to explore the origins of the Kurosakis and the Ishidas, much more than the teasers we already got in this arc. I am hoping for a story with a similar pattern as the “Turn back the Pendulum”: A story in which current events are based on the past and we get a better idea what the basics of Bleach really looks like. Especially Ishida`s family is a collection of mysteries and unknown elements.
*****
My guess is the coming sub-arc will throw Ishida into the abyss and Ichigo will have to struggle as well: with the revelations about his own origin but also with supporting, maybe even saving, his Quincy friend. But after the crisis has been dealt with both friends will move forward and fight for the future of everybody. This is my prediction and my hope.
I am still very unhappy about it how Ichigo and Orihime treated Ishida on the dome. Ichigo`s “checking” with Uryuu was showing shock about what he did as IchiThing and then he immediately turned his attention to Ulquiorra who, by the way, made no move to attack him again.
(Chapter 353: The Ash)
http://i31.mangapanda.com/bleach/353/bleach-2402535.jpg
I understand the argument that guys have a tendency not to talk about feelings and I also see the point that Ichigo was in shock. Nevertheless, I have to wonder, if that would not be Uryuu lying there, if that would have been Rukia, for example, would Ichigo have reacted the same way?
I must say if anybody had told me before the dome story was written that one day Ishida would do so much for Orihime and especially Ichigo and their reaction would be to literally turn their backs on him, leaving him bleeding, forgotten and neglected with life threatening injuries – no “thank you”, no affection, nothing whatsoever, I would have said, they would never do this to him!
I am admittedly not a guy but even if guys don`t like being fawned over, I would have expected some sort of nice male bonding scenes. Maybe some good natured bantering, a clap on the shoulder and get Ishida to say that he is doing all right (even if he isn`t and he is indeed playing tough guy).
Something but ignoring him like this, I still think it must have hurt him a lot. Ishida is male but he is certainly not what I would call “typical male”. Better some embarrassment but getting the feeling that his friends actually care about him than getting the feeling of being abandoned and forgotten.
I suddenly noticed another interesting parallel when it comes to the relationship between Ichigo and Ishida. Both had to go through important lessons partly also because of misguided contests. There was the irresponsible contest Uryuu started, one that fortunately didn`t result in a disaster as it could have been. But much later there was the battle between Ichigo and Ulquiorra which also was partly about a contest of who is “better”.
http://i7.mangapanda.com/bleach/353/bleach-2402541.jpg
To finally get a resolution of the dome story, to find out what happened during all the time gaps Tite Kubo left there is very much at the top of my personal wish list!
I understand that Bleach is a fighting manga. Having a chapter or even several in which everybody sits around the table, maybe at Urahara`s, drinking tea and discussing what happened is not exciting reading at all. Revelations have to happen the painful way, during action, during trauma – and it seems we will get plenty of that. I noticed the increase of flashbacks and I very much welcome that.
For emotional outbursts involving Ichigo or Uryuu I noticed that this either happens when Ichigo or Uryuu are alone so that no witness is around. Or something extreme is happening, like when Ginjou was stealing Ichigo`s powers.
Yes, absolutely – a crisis has a tendency to reveal the best or the worst in people. It is a true test of character and that is definitely typical Bleach.
I will try to find my posting about a possible blood transfusion between Ichigo and Ishida. I mentioned it a few times but I will try to find the original posting when I was getting into more detail. I will let you know when I find it.

@ Silverquord
I enjoyed reading your answers to the discussion questions. The choices you mentioned are among my favourites as well. I can`t add a lot but I would like to make some comments here and there…
I see the Fullbring arc as a stepping stone into this last huge arc which will have several sub-arcs. According to the colour picture with the snowmen right now we are in the Reioukyuu arc. If what we have seen in the Fullbring arc when it comes to the relationship between Ichigo and Ishida is showing strong parallels with the last arc, Tite Kubo has a dramatic start in mind.
Chapter 459 (Death & Strawberry 2)
http://i3.mangapanda.com/bleach/459/bleach-2528767.jpg
2.
This scene in which Ishida had left the hospital prematurely and in a hurry to help his friend is also touching me a lot. It felt a bit like the dome story to me, a weakened but determined Ishida facing his friend who is struggling with mental health issues. I wonder, will we see something like this in reverse in this new arc?
I admit it, this scene moved me to tears when I saw it the first time. It is emotionally very powerful. I think three elements are coming together here: Ishida cares very deeply about Ichigo but at the same time he understands. He knows very well indeed what it feels like to lose your powers and now he witnessed that all the hard gained achievements have been ripped out of Ichigo, leaving him empty and helpless again. Worse – there was nothing Ishida could do to stop it. Even if he would have been strong enough to use Ransotengai – it wouldn`t make any difference either. Throughout the whole Fullbring arc Ishida`s self confidence suffered one beating after another. I can imagine that Ishida very much felt like a failure, useless and disgusted with his limitations. He must have felt that he failed Ichigo – again.
Chapter 241 (Silverflame)
http://i13.mangapanda.com/bleach/241/bleach-14194.jpg
http://i21.mangapanda.com/bleach/241/bleach-14195.jpg
3.
Yes – this is also a good example showing Ichigo`s and Ishida`s common beliefs. Ichigo`s primary instinct is to protect people. It even brought him back from the dead. But Ishida is a protector, too. I regret it that this aspect of him is not shown more clearly. Especially nowadays Tite Kubo tends to leave so many gaps in his story but in the Fullbring arc we didn`t even get the chance to see Ishida fighting a hollow. We didn`t get the chance at all seeing him fight seriously. I know, Tite Kubo wants to surprise us but I find this very frustrating.
Ah, yes – that discussion is so typical them! Trademark bickering meets Ishida`s cleverness – it was great to watch. On the other hand, I noticed Ichigo`s annoyance but he didn`t ask any further questions. As it is typical Ishida, he also didn`t volunteer any more than he absolutely had to. If Ichigo would have known the background of that promise, I am sure his reaction would have been very different.
*****
I keep wondering what might push Ishida that far that he would willingly join the Vandenreich. Tite Kubo is a great author and I am sure if he wants to write such a story he will find a believable, touching background. But I can`t think of anything right now.
I am sure that Ryuuken did a lot of psychological damage to his son. I see it reflected so often in Bleach! As I said somewhere, one of the fanfiction writers I sometimes discuss things with privately is working with abused children and she sees the consequences of life long psychological abuse very clearly when looking at Ishida.
What kept Ishida going after the death of his grandfather is his pride as a Quincy, his heritage. When Ishida met Ichigo, it was an obsession. It was his identity, something he felt he needed to keep alive as the last active Quincy for his grandfather but also because hunting hollows and saving others from them gave him a purpose, something to feel good about. At that time Ishida probably felt that he doesn`t need friends. To his classmates he was first of all a strange weirdo, a nerd who kept everyone away from him at arm`s length. They didn`t understand him but I think Ishida didn`t understand them either. The everyday problems of his classmates must have seemed very trivial to him, for someone who grew up slaying monsters and has been living alone since his early teens.
Ichigo changed this. I am sure Ichigo`s friendship means nearly as much to Ishida as being a Quincy. I am convinced that one of his fears is that he might lose this friendship and because all the other friendships are linked to Ichigo, he would lose them as well. Ishida would be alone again. Now that Ishida learned to value friendship, he probably would feel devastated if that happens.
Just respect is not enough of a reason. But losing his anchor which is the pride as a Quincy AND the support of his friends maybe even believing that they despise him and deserted him, this would very likely push him over the edge.
Yes, Ishida is already isolated. It seems nobody is in any hurry to inform him about what is going on. I noticed that Ichigo never seemed to have told Ishida that Ebern was using a Quincy cross.

Well, thank goodness I was self centered enough to save the few pages of this FC because... well, its my first FC, so I was really proud of it. Here's my original first welcome post, edited slightly :)
*wave hello* Welcome, all ye Quincy supporters and Shinigami believers!
[removes Headband of Justice] (grin)
I personally like this tag-team. The team, Kurosaki Ichigo & Ishida Uryuu, was one of the original pair of friends in the human nakama, and like my joint-owner B. Haddrell, I am also hoping Tite Kubo will develop their relationship further in the current arc.
As B. Haddrell said so eloquently, Ichigo and Ishida are halves of a whole, and stronger for it, and I wholeheartedly agree. Similarly, I'm very grateful for B. Haddrell's help putting up with this FC, and hope that you enjoy the joint effort result: we're both excited to present this version2 FC to you
A little bit of clarification, in the essence of enriching this little, humble cranny of Bleach Ichigo-Uryuu fandom:

Here's my take on the discussion questions:
1. What makes Uryuu and Ichigo a good pairing?
They're very alike in many ways. Kudos to Kojima for the first one to even mention this... I don't think many of us realize this until it was presented to us this way. Both Ichigo and Ishida feel the same way about seeing hollows and the pain brought about by them. They are enemies based on their family histories, and yet it doesn't stop these two, and complement each other.
2. What's your favourite Ichigo & Uryuu scene
I have several favorite scenes, many of which B.Haddrell's already mentioned. This is another one of my favorite scenes.
Ichigo is at the point where he is completely devastated and confused, all of his friends and family has seemingly turned against him. If you know what is already happening, and you look back at this page, it's very touching. I love this page because it's very rare that you have their relationship switched around. There are not a lot of moments like this, especially within the human nakama after the SS arc.

And this. Especially the last panel, with the eye shot. It shows how much Uryuu understands and cares for Ichigo, and how Tite Kubo considers the depth of their relationship. In many ways, this is same, and yet not the same as the dome story. In the dome, Ichigo was considered powerful, and it is understandable that Ishida may put faith in Ichigo's power to save the day/have hope of his help. But in this arc, Ichigo is powerless, and yet it still ellicits such emotion from Ishida. There is no doubt here that he cares for Ichigo personally.

3. What's your favourite quotes?
Something that explains both Ichigo and Uryuu's similar beliefs:
ICHIGO
At first I thought "I wanted to protect mom."
The ones to protect increased with the birth of my sisters.
I kept going to a dojo for the sake of protecting them.
I got a bit stronger.
The ones I thought I wanted to protect

Ch241, Silverflame

Its funny, but it says a lot about their relationship. It is a bit confusing who says what in an off-panel conversation (where Chad is shown, but not Ichigo and Uryuu) but if I'm not mistaken, it was Ichigo who said the last line: "I'm your enemy!" while Ishida assumes that Ichigo is on his side. It was a complete turn around from their first meeting (where Ishida kept saying Ichigo is his enemy) and shows how they understand and trust each other. Not to mention, the whole exchange was revealing Uryuu's effort of finding a loophole so he can travel with Ichigo :) Funny and thoughtful at the same time :thumbs
4. Can you imagine that Uryuu and Ichigo would ever fight against each other seriously, maybe even using lethal force?
For a storyline perspective, maybe yes, but not to the death. Only in a possible pivotal scene/plot where the one tries to save the other from a misunderstood ideology that they may have been brainwashed with.
5. Now that we know that Ichigo`s mother was a Quincy, will this bring him and Uryuu closer together or become a problem for their friendship?
Yes, definitely. Ishida has the most understanding to what a Quincy pride is, and he's going to learn it from Ichigo as his friend. They're not obviously going to change their personalities, and will still banter constantly, but I think it will bring them closer :)
6. What question would you most like Kubo to answer about this pairing?
An existence of a blood relation :) They're pretty much like brothers from the way they act, to be honest :P
Italicized above was my original answer... but in light of recent developments, maybe its not so feasible, but I would still want Kubo to say if these two guys will finally accept each other like brothers :P

After posting most of the text below in the Ichigo FC I suddenly realized that I should leave my thoughts also here, in the Ishida x Ichigo FC.
I think I have good reason to be very worried about Ishida but after the probably inevitable drama there is also a good chance for some lighter, fun scenes between them. If it happens, this is something to look forward to before things might get serious again.
I also mentioned in the Ishida FC in the past that the idea that Ichigo might storm into Ryuuken`s office one day and confront him has been very much on top of my wish list just after finding out what happened on the dome after Ichigo left. Ichigo won`t be intimidated by Ryuuken one bit. Should Ryuuken start treating Ichigo like his son, trying to intimidate him - it will have the opposite effect, I am sure of that! I can imagine that it will anger Ichigo a lot should Ryuuken use that opportunity to belittle Uryuu`s abilities and his character.
I think Ichigo will not just “ask” to be trained. The Vandenreich threat could mean the end of everything and Ichigo will be sure that he needs to be involved. Ichigo will insist that Ryuuken trains him and should he resist, Ichigo will get his father involved to put pressure on him.
Even when both Ishidas try to teach Ichigo, there will be limits. Ichigo is a powerhouse but fine control is not something he is good at. Ichigo might learn to access his Quincy powers in a way he used his Shinigami powers: Creating a strong blast that overwhelms the opponent with raw power. (I am already imagining fun scenes like when Renji started to learn Kido with explosive results).
But there is a better example:
(Chapter 82: Conflictable Composition)
http://i29.mangapanda.com/bleach/82/bleach-1587728.jpg
http://i37.mangapanda.com/bleach/82/bleach-1587729.jpg
:o
Imagining this, I feel sorry for Uryuu and especially Ryuuken who might be worried that his underground training area will suffer serious damage. It is fortunate that soul-synthesized silver seems to be very difficult to destroy but with Ichigo, you never know…
I can imagine the bickering between Uryuu and Ichigo – and Ryuuken might admit that if Uryuu is really talentless, he is definitely not the worst case he ever met.
Ishida might have to make good use of his agility as well while Ichigo is struggling to learn at least some level of control.
This could be great stuff! :)

I would ask if I could join, but it seems I'm already on the member list for the group.
I definitely feel that Ichigo being revealed to be a Quincy is not something that will detract from either his or Uryu's character; rather, it will be something that will bring the two closer together as individuals and Nakama as Ichigo learns to use the power he inherited from his mother.

Maybe you mentioned it in a VM that you wanted to join? What counts is that you are here: Welcome on board, Saiyan5ninetail!
I think in the long run you will be proven right: That Ichigo is part Quincy will bring Ichigo and Uryuu closer together. I also think adjusting to the news won`t be a problem for Ichigo. Ichigo and his mother were very close. That his mother left such an important part of her in him will mean a lot to him. It also adds to it that it is Isshin who is telling him the truth now. He knows that his father cares for him and he is delivering the story of his origin in a supportive, tactful way. I can be sure of that.
With Uryuu, the situation is very different. What he will have to take in is enormous, definitely compared to Ichigo. Learning to deal with it will be very difficult for him. I also wonder who would finally tell Uryuu the truth. If it is Isshin, he might be able to limit the shock somewhat but Isshin never had any close contact with Uryuu whatsoever. I don`t think he will start a relationship with him now.
With Urahara and Orihime in Hueco Mundo, what is left are Ichigo and Ryuuken. I think by default it will be Ichigo who will tell Uryuu everything. Ichigo is a good, caring friend but he has trouble with the concept of tact and diplomacy sometimes. In his vulnerable state, it is likely that Uryuu will take some of the news the wrong way and suddenly a rift opens between them. I am sure that Uryuu would confront his father afterwards and what he tells him will make matters worse.
Whatever happens, Ichigo will be determined to help his friend and fix any damage that might have happened when it comes to their friendship. Ichigo can be remarkable stubborn and he won`t give up.

We're a new, small group since the last time, of course we remember who was on the list before ^_^ Welcome back Saiyan5ninetail!

Ichigo is a good, caring friend but he has trouble with the concept of tact and diplomacy sometimes. In his vulnerable state, it is likely that Uryuu will take some of the news the wrong way and suddenly a rift opens between them. Agaaaaahh... Kubo is writing Ryuuken, so when is he going to write Uryuu in?
Ichigo is a completely different Quincy altogether. Hmm, actually I'm not very sure what race he is now. I'm trying to figure out when to change the details for the character information; he sure has a very complicated origin :) But well, it looks like he's going to be a Quincy through and through, so I'll update "Quincy" as Ichigo's race on the first post, first.
It'd be interesting to finally know who Uryuu's mother will be (best candidate now is Katagiri, but I actually still have my doubts) It'd be an interesting comparison between both Moms. I'm expecting Ichigo to reach out to Uryuu once they both discover the truth about their past.. there's no way Ichigo can ignore anything related to his mom (such a momma's boy ^_^ ), esp being a Quincy. I'm just really hoping Uryuu's going to be around for this, before any plot fallout Kubo intends to make.
I think it'll still be Ryuuken who will inform Uryuu about his past, unless it is some sort of forced situation where Ichigo has to directly tell Uryuu, like how B. Haddrell imagined. But it'd be weird to hear your parents past from a friend, even if its a good friend.
Even if Ichigo's a quincy, I don't think he's going to don a reishii armor. Just seems like its not his style. But I wouldn't be surprised if Uryuu does.
Just curious though, I can't make any heads or tails about Opie's comment on Uryuu. There's an implied "hidden" power from Uryuu, and I am just curious in what shape or form it would be and how it could potentially complement Ichigo's. I pretty much want to see a back to back cooperative teamplay between the both of them reminiscent of the early SS chapters. For this to happen, Uryuu is likely going to be at least up par or at least somewhat comparable to Ichigo's power level. We haven't seen much from Uryuu from the timeskip, and I'm early wondering what will happen for this arc. On the other hand, I'd also have to wonder what will happen to Ichigo's ability after this Everything But the Rain mini arc.

I am wondering, too when Uryuu will return but unless Isshin is starting to jump ahead in his story, it seems it will be a while. Uryuu was born in November. Ichigo was born in July. This means Ichigo is a bit older than Uryuu. Maybe Ryuuken and Katagiri (I hope it is indeed her!) had Uryuu is the result after Masaki and Isshin intended to have a family together. Somehow I am left with the impression that Uryuu might not have been a planned child.
Ichigo is indeed a lot of things but when looking at origin, I first of all look at the origin of the parents. Ichigo is first of all a Quincy and Shinigami hybrid.
I agree, I also can`t imagine Ichigo in a Quincy armour. Ichigo is the hack and slash type who tends to overwhelm his opponent with raw power. Ichigo is a powerhouse, at least he usually is. He wouldn`t think he needs it and I agree, it is not his style. But, yes, I can easily imagine that Ishida wears it.
I think there are a few ways that would make Ishida much stronger and would put him on the same level when it comes to raw power as Ichigo. I am reposting the text in question:
The first one is natural growth by training and gaining more experience. This is what Uryuu has always done and it shows. There is already a big difference between Uryuu`s powers and abilities at the beginning of Bleach and today. (Well… what Tite Kubo has shown us so far).
The second one is, enabling Uryuu to develop “Blut” himself. He was definitely not born with that ability unlike Ichigo. Ichigo could give it to him by a blood transfusion.
The third is helping Uryuu to break a possible block in his mind that limits his powers. Unohana removed such a block from Zaraki. Uryuu`s block would have different causes. He has been told all his life how worthless, useless and talentless he is.
The fourth is, Uryuu doesn`t even know what a Quincy with full abilities CAN do. Ichigo has seen the huge variety Shinigami can achieve and knows what to aim for. Uryuu never had that chance. I can imagine, he would already learn a lot more just from observation. We have seen that Uryuu didn`t have a lot of raw power at the beginning and maybe, compared with the most powerful Vandenreich Quincies, also today. But he nevertheless managed to master very complicated and rare techniques.
It could be that Uryuu will never be a powerhouse like Ichigo but he would make up for it with a high level of Quincy Kidou skills Ichigo would never master.

Welcome on board, sephysarkon, also from me! :)
I agree with you, Silverquord – Tite Kubo is definitely building something here that will be very important in the relationship between Ichigo and Ishida.
Opposites that attract each other, this is what Quincies and Shinigami are. I found it very interesting that Tite Kubo made it so clear in the latest chapter.
Maybe I will get my wish and we will finally get a good look at the aftermath of the dome story. If that Hollow that turned Ichigo into IchiThing came from his mother I think it would make my theory even more powerful, that it was Ishida`s desperate plea that eventually brought him back after Ulquiorra stopped the transformation.
I would have preferred it if Isshin would have met with Ichigo AND Uryuu so that both of them learn the truth. Isshin would also be the best person available to help Uryuu to handle the shock and deal with the news.
Instead my prediction is that Ichigo will end up doing this and it won`t go well.

It is almost prophetic, Haddrell. I wrote that little poem we both have in our sigs about how Uryu and Ichigo are Yin and Yang, and all of a sudden Kubo outrights states that Quincies and Shinigami are opposites of one another in the recent chapter.
Not only that, but Ichigo and Uryu can also be seen as opposites of one another, and they do balance each others' personalities out.
B. Haddrell

Yes, I felt the same way, Saiyan5ninetail. It was no surprise to me that Tite Kubo spelled it out so clearly now, that Quincies and Shinigami are opposites but also able to complement each other, becoming stronger together. I have noticed this from the very beginning since Ichigo and Uryuu combined their powers to fight the Hollows, at the beginning of their friendship.
It will take time until Ichigo and Uryuu will become really two halves that form a stronger whole but I want to be optimistic that they will get there. The coming drama between them will hopefully get both of them to finally open up to each other. Ichigo will probably realize very soon how little he knew about his friend, how much he has really done for him and how much he has taken him for granted. And Uryuu will hopefully learn to trust Ichigo more and allow him to help him when it is needed.

I would just like to add in some fanfics previously recommended by B.Haddrell. These are friendship related, and I agree that they're great reads. If you haven't read them yet, then have a look! :)
Special thanks to the authors themselves for graciously letting us share their work here!
What turns up in the Dark (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8211289/1/) by eveningsparrow (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/4049250/eveningsparrow)
Classification: M, 29 chapters, complete (sequel in development)
Author's Summary: The white-coated body slams into the wall, sending spiderweb cracks out from the point of impact. A cloud of dust rises as the figure falls to the dirt. Broken glasses askew, the Quincy tilts his head up from the sand, blood trickling from his mouth. "Good...shot...Kurosaki." Rated for language and some violence.
B.Haddrell's comments: The writing style is unusual and needs some getting used to. But it is very effective. The story is in part extremely graphic, violent and has disturbing scenes. But all of them are very well written and realistic in the context of the story. Other scenes are very funny and made me laugh.
It is an intelligent story that explores the characters of Ishida, Ichigo and their relationship very well. It gave me a lot to think about.

The Aroshainingu Chronicle (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6936791/1/http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6936791/1/) by GothLoner (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/772331/GothLoner)
Classification: T, 7 chapters, complete
Author's Summary: When Head Captain Yamamoto declares that the last of the Quincy archers, Ryuuken and Uryu, must either be stripped of their powers or killed, just how will Uryu react? Especially when those he once knew as allies are now fighting him to the death...
Additional Author's Note: This story was written before the Vandereich Arc
B.Haddrell's comments: This story was written before Yamamoto`s death and events in the new arc. Nevertheless, this is a very interesting look at the conflict between Quincies and Shinigami. It includes interactions between Ichigo and Ishida that might still be relevant when Ishida returns. Some of what happens here in this fan fiction could happen in “canon” Bleach.
-----------------
Spotless and Clean (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6041541/1/) by sinemoras09 (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1325586/sinemoras09)
Classification: T, short story, complete
Author's Summary: Ishida is about to get beat up. Again. Ishida Uryuu, from three points of view. Gen. Ishida, others. Hinted one-sided Ishida/Orihime. High school fic. No spoilers.
B.Haddrell's comments: This story is a lot of fun and explores the quirks Ishida and Ichigo have that made me laugh but there is some seriousness here as well.
Happy reading!

I have some time now so I'm going to answer some questions ^^
1. What makes Uryuu and Ichigo a good pairing?
I won't be original here. Ichigo and Uryuu are two opposite poles: plus and minus, white and black, yin and yang ; ) In manga two arch rivals are often two completely opposite characters, like Naruto and Sasuke. Because of that they complement themself perfectly. When Ichigo screams and fights Uryuu thinks and takes control of the situation ahead. Not to mention they both very handsome. When Ichigo is 'a rebel type' - aggresive, extravagant and brash Uryuu is elegant, cold and sophisticated. What is more to say - they are absolutely EPIC.
2. What's your favourite Ichigo & Uryuu scene
All and every single one of them.
3. What's your favourite quotes?
That's a difficult question. I like their banters very much but when they start to monolog they're don't know when to stop :) But I liked how they were talking about their past, their loved ones at the very beggining when they fought Menos Grande. I wish that they could just sit and talk some more about their families. I think that they could realise how much they are close, how much they suffered as a children, how much they understand each other. And how much they can help each other. And I really want to see how Ichigo apologise to Ishida for what he did to him on the HM Dome. And than Ishida might do just...
http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/464/7
Serves you right, you dork !
4. Can you imagine that Uryuu and Ichigo would ever fight against each other seriously, maybe even using lethal force?
I think that's actually possible. Although they have much in common they actually don't talk with each other when there's some issues like, ones again, on the HM Dome. Maybe that will change with time but I'm really afraid that they would have to resolve their problems with fists.
5. Now that we know that Ichigo`s mother was a Quincy, will this bring him and Uryuu closer together or become a problem for their friendship?
That depends, but I think that in the and they would fight on the same side.
Seriously, Ichigo would intentionally hurt Ishida, after what he already done to him ??? I don't think so.
But firstly they would be both shocked, that's for sure.
About fanfictons recommended by Haddrell - sama I was reading only the first one on the list and although I liked that one I really, REALLY don't want to see Ichigo going berserk EVER AGAIN. Especially if it's Ishida who would suffer the consequences.

Hello, hazel-eyes! :D Welcome also from me! :)
I love your avatar. I got this image in the form of a big pencil board and it is one of the Bleach pictures decorating our walls.
I very much like your replies. I especially liked your description of their differences that gives them so much potential to complement each other. On the other hand, they also have a lot in common. Ichigo`s primal instinct is to protect. It is the driving force behind him that even brought him back from the dead – but also Uryuu is a protector. To protect others from Hollows is what bonded them together during their first battle together. It was also the first time they fought as a real team, back to back, complementing their powers and abilities. I know, it didn`t go as far as it could have with Ichigo running off and not listening to Uryuu (which is unfortunately still so typical for him!) but I can see especially now how much stronger both of them could be if they would really work together.
I most definitely don`t want to see any “Naruto and Sasuke” pattern. I have only seen the first episode and wasn`t impressed but because this topic appears frequently, I read about it using various websites. From what I can see, Uryuu is definitely no Sasuke. He might have shown some tendencies in early Bleach but I am confident that Uryuu learned his lesson well: He will remember what Soken taught him. Revenge is not the answer. All it does is causing more misery and deaths.
But when we look at extremes I can see that Ichigo is indeed the more aggressive and impulsive character. He got better at self control and he definitely matured in many ways but he is still more likely to act on instinct, following the flow of his emotions. Uryuu on the other hand is indeed very different. But he reminds me of the saying that still waters are very deep. Uryuu is usually so calm, collected. He reminds me of a predator that analyses a situation thoroughly and then strikes fast and effectively. Uryuu uses agility and speed but like a cheetah he can only fight at his physical peak for a short time before he loses momentum. I call Uryuu the thinker and Ichigo the basher.
This also means that although it is very difficult to anger Uryuu, when it happens the transformation is striking. When he faced Mayuri, when he faced Ulquiorra he never lost control but an icy calm took over. The change was startling.
I also wish that Ichigo and Uryuu would sit together and talk but this would not be Bleach-style. Them sitting together talking would not satisfy the target group of Shounen Jump. Therefore I assume that a mixture of pride, shame and pain prevented both of them to talk about what happened on the dome, learn from the experience and move on. I think it is likely that both of them avoided the topic and pushed it away as far as possible.
But I think Tite Kubo is now also building the stage that will lead to a drama between them, including forcing them to confront the unresolved issues between them. Only after dealing with those, both of them will be ready to face the challenges ahead together.
I also hope that this drama will not unfold in the same way as in the first fanfiction on the list. The circumstances will, of course, be different. Hopefully we will get a real idea soon where Tite Kubo is going when it comes to the relationship between Ichigo and Uryuu.

Seriously, Ichigo would intentionally hurt Ishida, after what he already done to him ??? I don't think so.
Lols. Yes, I think we can safely conclude, at least at the very end, they are going to work together. Ichigo's not the one to hurt Uryuu. Atm I could be Uryuu hurting Ichigo, since Uryuu hasn't resolved his issues stemming from his father's rather traumatic treatment of him, and this could shift towards imbalance at first. But even at that point, Uryuu with the intention of mortally injuring Ichigo? Nope, Uryuu may be angry, but not enough to intentionally cause harm.. I think he pretty much learned his lesson when he used the hollow bait the last time.
Opposites that attract each other, this is what Quincies and Shinigami are. I found it very interesting that Tite Kubo made it so clear in the latest chapter.
It will take time until Ichigo and Uryuu will become really two halves that form a stronger whole but I want to be optimistic that they will get there.
Yes, its really exciting to see Kubo finally come back and touch on the "opposite" concept between Shinigamis and Quincies. But we know that its not exactly confined to opposition, but also complementary! And we get that wonderful example for the very first few chapters of Bleach when Uryuu and Ichigo worked together to defeat the overwhelming amount of hollows, and that could-have-been plan for disposing the menos. So the question is, opposing, or complementing? lol, here at the IshiIchi FC, we like complements ^_^
Note, bolded fonts for B.Haddrell's quotes above is my own. Yup, Uryuu never had the chance. We've got a ton of Quincies going around now, and shockingly, what people call Quarrancars, the possible quincy-hollow hybrid. How much can Uryuu learn now? Lots. But that involves going over to the VR side of the ongoing war... of which Ichigo, at least now, is against. Is learning that Masaki, as a Quincy, enough to move him over to the VR side? Probably not... because his other half, his dad's half, is shinigami based. Poor Ichigo's going to have a conundrum... unless.....
If it isn't for learning VR tech, then its finally getting that odd old, presently stoic and harsh dad of his to finally show his cards. Ryuuken isn't as tough as he looks, now that we get to see him in a flashback :laugh I'd say dear old dad may finally get pushed out of his comfort zone and train both "pure blood" originated kids (his, and Masaki's) the meaning of being a Quincy sans VR tech. (I am assuming of course that Ryuuken here has no affliations with VR) This is with the assumption that Ryuuken grudgingly agrees with Souken's ideals.... at least the same ones he explained to Uryuu as a kid. (As of EBTR mini arc, we have no idea yet what Souken's stance is in the shinigami-quincy front)
Actually, Souken's ideals would actually be perfect for Ichigo... it is quite funny now, because, keeping in mind Masaki's "adoptive"(I can't think of a better word) status into the Ishida family, Souken can actually be considered as Ichigo's grandfather, too! :rotflmao http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a574/silverquord/90_icons/00_onionh/tralala_zps69214837.gif
Besides, Ryuuken can't possibly ignore the child of the woman he is losing his head over in EBTR; the fact that he was still speaking terms with Isshin says much about whose side he could be on... unless he was being unnaturally "friendly" with Isshin just to spy on uber hybrid Ichigo.
I call Uryuu the thinker and Ichigo the basher.
It would be actually quite funny to see them train together; because its highly possible for a role reversal, at least if it transpires and there will be a training phase: Uryuu's going to keep retorting back on his dad (lets face it, he outwardly doesn't like Ryuuken), while Ichigo will completely be lost on the situation and try to get Uryuu to be respectful. I'm pretty sure Ryuuken has never shown his nasty side to Ichigo, and being the director of the Karakura General Hospital, he comes off possibly respected (esp since Isshin's also in the medical business)
Ah, so many endless possibilities.... O.O
But I think Tite Kubo is now also building the stage that will lead to a drama between them, including forcing them to confront the unresolved issues between them. Only after dealing with those, both of them will be ready to face the challenges ahead together.
A sweet yes! And to end this post... I saw this gif and all it did was remind me of Uryuu, so here's something to end this post:

I think it is the mix of opposing and same elements when it comes to their powers but also their personalities and personal goals that form a complementing whole – or more accurately, will hopefully result in such a whole.
At the moment there are still too many barriers that are in the way. One of them is being dealt with – Ichigo is now learning the truth about his family but also about the Ishidas. Uryuu will learn the truth – all of it – very soon, too. All the secrets, personal and otherwise, will come out into the open.
The next step is dealing with them. Especially for Uryuu, this will be hard. What is mainly needed is a development of trust between them. Also when it comes to fully trusting other people, even a good friend, this will be very difficult for Uryuu.
I don`t think Uryuu would ever be tempted to join the VR under his own free will. Why would they share their knowledge with Uryuu and train him when it is not for their benefit? Especially after Ichigo has been used and thrown away from the Soul Society after everything he did for them, he would see this as an additional warning not to involve himself with the VR. To him they will be Quincies but Quincies who lost their way. All they would do to him is using him and they won`t take no for an answer. Uryuu`s sense of honour and pride would prevent him from selling himself this way. Uryuu will try to learn what he can from other sources. I am sure Urahara could get some visual recordings about the attacks.
I also have a strong suspicion that Ryuuken is a fully developed Quincy, including VR abilities. My theory is that after Isshin puts some pressure on him he will finally agree to train both, Uryuu and Ichigo. When I think about it, I even feel somewhat sorry for Ryuuken. And when it comes to teaching control to Ichigo, Uryuu might be tempted to pull his hair out. :p
(Chapter 82: Conflictable Composition)
http://i29.mangapanda.com/bleach/82/bleach-1587728.jpg
http://i37.mangapanda.com/bleach/82/bleach-1587729.jpg
Ryuuken might know of the VR and could have VR abilities but I would like to believe that he is not sharing their values. He has close contact with Isshin after all and they still seem to be friends. It is likely that he kept in contact with Urahara as well.
On the other hand, I don`t think he believes in Soken`s ideals either, at least not fully. Working with Shinigami and achieve some kind of harmony with them is not something he would support. He is still following in his mother`s footsteps and the teachings he grew up with. I believe that Ryuuken is first of all looking down at his son because he is not a full blooded Quincy. He is only willing to see what Uryuu can`t do instead of appreciating what he can do – in spite of the limitations he has compared to a full blooded Quincy.
I am not so sure if Ryuuken can “possibly ignore the child”, meaning Ichigo. Ichigo is definitely no full blooded Quincy, less Quincy than Uryuu is. On the other hand, Ryuuken knows very well that Isshin is a powerful Shinigami and the combination inside Ichigo makes him incredibly powerful when he is at his peak. Yes, I think also because the Shinigami side in Ichigo is coming from Isshin who seems to be an exception of the rule when it comes to Ryuuken`s attitude not to want to have anything to do with Shinigami, he might eventually give in to Isshin`s pressure and teach him.
And this after Ryuuken had put his son under a lot of emotional stress by placing the choice before him between his powers and his friends. Uryuu on the other hand is part Quincy, part “weak” powerless human. I can imagine that Ryuuken would let Uryuu feel his contempt even more when he teaches them together. Uryuu will grit his teeth together and get on with it, trying to learn what he can. Being treated badly by his father is nothing new to him anyway. But I am sure, Ichigo would not accept Ryuuken`s attitude at all.
Oh, Ichigo got a taste of Ryuuken`s nasty side! He was just right there together with Orihime when Ryuuken humiliated his badly injured son while he was lying in his hospital bed. I am sure Ichigo knows that Uryuu lives alone and has been for a while. Ichigo should have a good idea why by now.
By the way, that little gif is lovely. His habit of fiddling with his glasses always makes me smile. :D

NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo......
Good lord, all of the feels that will likely be generated if or when Uryu and Ichigo are finally forced to fight each other in this arc. I swear, the passion and heartbreak will be so intense it will be palpable.

Indeed… I am still struggling with this revelation.
I think the dome story might feel like a stepping stone into what is to come: Not only will the new story build on it, new aspects as well as revisiting old ones will add to it.
Isshin confirmed what I expected: Uryuu doesn`t talk about his family. Ichigo knows very little about him and that in spite of what they experienced together. Uryuu doesn`t like to volunteer anything about his personal life and Ichigo doesn`t ask questions because he knows.
But for helping a brainwashed Uryuu he needs to know much more about him, also on a very personal level. My guess is that the Vandenreich will strike again very soon. It won`t be a big invasion this time. This “shock and awe” effect only works once. Instead it will be a much more targeted strike.
I want to make a bold prediction: Bach will want to test his latest recruit, the Prince of Light. I think Bach is aware of it that the section of the Soul Society that is potentially the most threatening to the Vandenreich is the Department of Research and Development. He will send Uryuu together with a small team to get information and to destroy it.
I suddenly realized: Tite Kubo did not only remove the human nakama together with Urahara but also Rukia and Renji, the other two members of the nakama. Byakuya would be the ideal person to mediate, to prevent any hasty decisions but he isn`t available either.
I think at least the history Uryuu has with Mayuri will come out in the open. Ichigo will know but also the Soul Society. The reactions should be very interesting and reflect again that both sides have a lot of blood on their hands.
My prediction is, this coming storyline will be much more complex than the dome story. This is not about Ichigo turned monster vs. monster starting to turn more human with Ishida in the middle, trying to save his friend from becoming a monster for good. This will be much more personal also because it builds on that story.
